While everyone gets crazy about the gifts “in” the sleigh, I always thought the magical sleigh that can get you across the world in a day and handles like it is on rails was really the true gift. And this one is already painted RED!! If you truly want to impress your loved one or yourself and at the same time make every friend and family member jealous, this is the ONE GIFT they will talk about for years. I know, because that is what I did. In 2002 Lotus only produced 100 of their 25th Anniversary Edition Lotus Esprit V8 Twin Turbo and this one is #74. The last major change Lotus did to the Esprit until they stopped production in 2004 was to switch to the round taillights in 2002. After 10,675 Esprit were made and 28 years after they started, Lotus stopped production on one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Julia Thompson, the designer of this body style, started the new updating in 1993, with 2002 being the last year of the last round of major changes (taillamps). The car is beautiful and yes you will get your picture taken while driving, while it is parked and you will hear all sorts of wild guesses as to what it is as unknowing males try to impress their equally unknowing girlfriends to their car knowledge. I have been told it is a Ferrari, a Bugatti, to a secret Corvette. I am not sure why people will tell you what you drive, instead of asking, but they will. If you are looking for a car that will keep you unnoticed, go buy a Porsche, as this is NOT the car. I bought the car for my wife on 11/29/2010 as a Christmas Present for her from Boardwalk Porsche with 21,541 miles. In the last 5 years we have only put 2700 miles but those have been some fun miles. I live on a street with 7 Ferraris (including a F40 and a F50), one Underground Racing Lambo, and a couple of Porsches, but mine gets the mailman to stop and take pictures. In the only car show we put it in, it one first place at the Boardwalk Spring Concorso on April 14, 2012 for the British Class. They used to have pictures up so you might be able to use your favorite search engine and see this beautiful car in action. Notes/Work done on the car: 1. The car has a clear screen on the front. 2. I replaced the clutch last year ($8k). 3. I replaced the battery with an Optima battery with a trickle charger setup. I will include the setup with the car. 4. The car has been completely checked out, and you will see from the pictures with the car on, no idiot lights are lit. A. Timing Belts have been changed to JAE BLUE timing Belts. B. All four Oxygen Sensors where changed as well. C. Also changed the a small Oil Hose, Idler Serp Pully and the Crankshaft position sensor. They were not “bad” but they a normal failure parts that are very easy to replace when replacing the Belts. D. All this work was done by Small Car World a very well respected Lotus service shop. If you have any questions you can call Richard and he can talk about the car. If you have the opportunity to go see his shop you should. There were a dozen or more Lotuses and very specialized British race cars from all years. 5. Tires are great, and nothing is leaking from any portion. 6. The glass is all perfect and the seats are great. I had new Gas Lift Shocks added to even the hatch stays open by itself. Don't laugh, those things are very expensive! 7. Sometime in it past the car had a cat back system installed and it sounds awesome. 8. I know of nothing wrong with the car except that the wife does not drive it now and this kind of car begs to be driven. With her not driving it, medical conditions, and myself being more of a convertible man, it is time for the next lucky person. 9. I also have the Services Manual included with car. 10.
