Thanks to a few very thoughtful upgrades, you can pick up this timeless symbol of class while enjoying modern conveniences. Edsel Ford rebelled against his father's mass market sensibilities by building a car for people in his substantial wealth class. He emphasized design, which means these first generation cars show their boldness with sleek lines rather than adding chrome. This was the car he could have proudly driven in Europe with its waterfall grille, subtle red detailing in the bumpers, push button door handles, and an exposed rear tire that was so artfully presented that it would become the Continental's namesake on other vehicles. But look a little closer and you can tell this one is even more unique. The silver paint has the great shine that only comes from a modern respray. Those who get even closer start to notice there's also custom maroon pinstriping on the front and rear. So is this elegant machine also a hot rod? Open the door and there's a supple red interior that provides the kind of luxurious room in both the front and the rear that you would expect from such an elite car. When you slip inside, a very original Lincoln wheel with semi-ring chrome horn greets you. But just like the exterior you start to see the interesting red pinstriping again on the polished wood dash. If you keep scanning the panel, you'll start to see some modern convinces hidden within this classic luxury. Unlike the original Continental, you now get an AM/FM/CD player for modern music, supplemental gauges for better info, electric power windows, and ice cold air conditioning running R-134a. Of all the modifications, the one under the hood is the most interesting. Some Continentals had a 305 cubic-inch motor. This one no longer has the complicated V12, but retains this same displacement in an easy to service and/or upgrade small-block Chevy V8. This power plant might have a Holley four-barrel carburetor and aluminum intake manifold for a bit of hot rod flair, but this Continental Club Coupe never losses its luxury nature. In fact, the more modern motor has allowed the manual transmission to be replaced by an easy going three-speed automatic. Going down the road in style is exceptionally effortless, too, with features such as power steering and the modern BF Goodrich name on those classic-looking whitewall tires. There were only 847 Club Coupes built in 1941. It will be hard to find one of the few remianing that will be so easy to drive and live with everyday. Don't miss this opportunity. EXTERIOR COLOR: ODOMETER READING: 81420 INTERIOR COLOR : Light Blue VEHICLE FEATURES & OPTIONS Maintenance Records, AM Radio, CD Changer, Power Convertible Top, Power Top, Air Conditioning, Vinyl Interior, Coil-Over Suspension, Front Disc Brakes, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Power Seats, Power Steering, Power Windows, Seatbelts-Front SELLER REMARKS Lincoln is reaching into a lot of its heritage these days, which is reminding us all of some great cars. Arguably there's no better one than the Continental four-door convertible. And in the case of this 1965 model, everything represents the icon perfectly - right down to its factory-correct elegant color combination. It was quite a daring feat to put four doors on a convertible, and especially so with those rear-hinged suicide doors. What's amazing is that the designers wrapped this bold idea in a modern design that showed restraint from being too outrageous with sheetmetal. That's how an elegant icon was born. This one is covered its original shade of code Q Huron Blue paint, so it's the subtle and sophisticated choice for a warm summer day with friends. The slab sides give way to chrome accent lines that run the length of the car. The rest of the brightwork is nearly as important to keeping this convertible complete, which makes having those big bumpers, wide horizontal grille, and original slotted hubcaps so essential. While you'll love to have the top down, the newer dark blue convertible top really makes for a nice complementing contrast in color. Open any one of the iconic suicide doors, and you're greeted to an amazing-looking light blue interior. With the top down the interior and exterior colors complement each other so well it almost seems tough to see where the sheetmetal ends and the seatbacks begin. A premium Lincoln means plenty of features. This includes power seats, power windows, power convertible top, and air conditioning that's been converted to R-134a. Even the original AM radio is still in place, but there's a CD changer hidden out of the way so you can still listen to modern tunes without ruining the period-correct appearance. From behind the wheel the full gauge package looks amazing and highly stylized. Keen eyes can even spot the rare auto-dimmer for the headlights in the middle of the dashboard. The sporty clamshell hood gives a great view of the large 430 cubic-inch MEL V8. This is the correct motor for the era, and the big black air cleaner on top lets people know that you are keeping this cool cruiser original. There's plenty of power, and the dual exhaust even lets out a muscular howl when you really want to get moving. But this Lincoln will never betray its easy-going luxurious nature. The three-speed automatic transmission makes for a fantastic highway cruiser. The suspension soaks up bumps without rattling the body, and thanks to that long wheelbase, the ride is effortlessly smooth. Power brakes with discs up front and power steering make this a true go-anywhere luxury driving machine. This Continental is a model of factory correct elegance. We've got the maintenance records to prove this one is turnkey fun that's ready for the first person smart enough to snap it up.
