Nicely restored with a lot of new components, this is a trail-ready 4x4 with a lot to offer, including a very reasonable price. The burgundy paint is a lot nicer than what it was wearing originally, and the rich metallic finish looks great on the upright Jeep bodywork. It's a few years old and this is a Jeep, after all, so it's not perfect, but for a vehicle ostensibly designed to chase through the mud, it's pretty darned nice. The rockers and rear corners of the body have been appropriately reinforced with black diamond plate, giving the Jeep a tough look that's also highly functional. The side steps were also added in 2014, so it's easier to climb aboard and a set of high-output KC lights were added up front. You'll also note heavy-duty bumpers with built-in tow hooks, fresh rubber fender flares to cover the oversized rubber, and a heavy-duty spare tire carrier with a matching fifth wheel. Few Jeeps are this nicely equipped, this well-finished, and this thoughtfully built. The interior is the familiar low-maintenance Jeep stuff that you've come to expect. The high-back buckets wear fresh black vinyl seat covers, a material that wears like iron and you can just hose it off after a day playing in the mud. The floors are covered with heavy duty rubber mats and the back seat looks like it might be original, or at least wearing an older seat cover. There's more black diamond plate on the dash, with updated knobs and handles, a correct speedometer with built in temperature and fuel gauges, and a pair of auxiliary gauges for voltage and oil pressure. There are a pair of power outlets under the dash, so roughing it doesn't necessarily mean going without your tech, and there's a locking center console for a bit of security. Overhead there's a robust 6-point roll cage as well as a new soft top and doors that were installed just last year. Jeep's rugged and reliable 258 cubic inch inline-6 is the engine most CJs use and it's a great choice. Torquey and willing to just crawl along at little more than idle speed, it was built for situations just like this. It's mostly original and runs great, thanks to a rebuilt carburetor and new ignition components. It's not pretty and showy, but it's highly functional and doesn't' need any excuses. This Jeep is equipped with both power steering and power brakes, which are welcome on a vehicle with oversized tires, and a custom tubular header feeds the exahust. A 4-speed manual transmission feeds a 2-speed transfer case, while the axles are filled with 3.54/3.55 gears so it's an easy highway cruiser. There are newer shocks underneath, a recent front driveshaft, and custom wheels with 32x11.50-15 BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A radials that were installed in 2014. The Jeep always looks like it's ready for an adventure and this one has a lot of money recently invested in keeping that spirit alive. These machines still represent a ton of fun for the money. And if you're looking for one that is truly "trail rated" and ready to get dirty, then this 1977 Jeep CJ7 deserves a closer inspection. First off, this CJ is still made of steel, not a fiberglass tub, which makes a difference to real Jeep aficionados. Like many of its siblings, this one got a long list of upgrades that only enhanced what was already a very capable package. The look is unmistakable, but it's pure Jeep taken to the next level. The red paint is OK, but you already know you aren't buying this Jeep because it's a trailer queen. Red may or may not be its original color, but at this point it doesn't really matter because it's been thoroughly vetted and upgraded to handle the rough stuff. Big fender flares cover the wide by huge tires, a set of auxiliary lights at the base of the windshield are actually useful for more than blinding the guy in front of you at rush hour, and the heavy-duty polished diamond-plate accents are more than just pretty, they reinforce critical areas of the Jeep's tub. There's a set of tubular steps that help you climb aboard and there's no mistaking the familiar Jeep face that's elemental in its simplicity. The black interior looks freshened, too, with seat covers that are in excellent condition, a few well-chosen upgrades, and a back seat that can carry two folks who really, really like each other. Durable floor covers mean you can hose it out when you get home from a day in the sun and there's a custom aluminum center panel framing a combination of aftermarket and original factory gauges. There is no radio, of course, but you won't miss it one bit, especially when you're behind the wheel. There's a custom B&M shifter to manage the 3-speed automatic transmission, and in the rough it's probably a smart idea to have one that locks out reverse when you don't need it. For weather protection there's a bikini top that at least keeps the sun off you and the worst of the rain, but again, you're not buying this because you want to drive it to work in a suit and tie. The engine is AMC's torquey 304 cubic inch V8 that powered Jeeps for most of a generation. Upgrades include an aftermarket intake and Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, a set of chrome valve covers, and special long-tube headers and a pair of glasspack-style mufflers with turn-downs just ahead of the rear axle, so it sounds like it mean business. Power steering and power front disc brakes are probably mandatory on something with tires this big, and the suspension was built for off-road duty with a 4-inch lift. Both axles are Chevrolet units, so they're burly enough for the rough and there's enough gear inside to make the big tires feel agile, even on surface streets. Giant 33x12.50-15 Falken off-road radials have been stuffed onto a set of blacked-out wheels to complete the look. We sell a lot of CJs but rarely do we find one that suggests so much fun. The Golden Eagle graphics were surely inspired by the other highly decorated machines of the period but tie into the Jeep's distinctly American heritage; honestly, is there any vehicle more patriotic than this? And if you do take it out in the brush, you'll appreciate the burly front bumper with grille guard and winch, custom steps, and the oversized spare tire mount with tubular rear bumper. Inside, the Jeep is basic, but that also means that it's virtually indestructible. Have some fun with the top and doors off, then hose it out, that's the name of the game. The seat covers are recent, so they fit well and are quite comfortable for a day of play, and the floor has been covered in tan carpets, befitting the Golden Eagle's upscale mission. Power comes from AMC's rugged and reliable 304 cubic inch V8, and you'd better believe that it transforms the Jeep's performance. With a no-nonsense look, a strong Buick V6, and stripped to only the bare essentials, this one is the world's most recognizable off-road toy no matter how you look at it. Anyone who's familiar with vintage Jeeps knows that their steel skins are perhaps the most vulnerable part. It dents, scratches, and if you live in certain parts of the country, they rust in the most demonic ways possible. The solution? Cover it in matte black paint. The finish is tough, easy to maintain, and with those diamond-plate reinforcements, it won't get all bashed up. It lends itself perfectly to the boxy Jeep shape where you can make it sturdy enough to withstand the rigors of off-roading without damage and still keep that traditional Jeep look. A bright red pinstripe and some bright chrome pieces dress it up, but it still looks like it should be getting dirty in the mud and that's exactly where this Jeep is at its best. Fender flares, a simple front bumper with a heavy-duty winch, and a pair of bright jerry cans on the rear give it a definite old-school look, which works well since this is one of the earliest CJs we've ever featured. Although there's a rear bench, this one works best as a 2-seater now, thanks to a pair of comfortable and supportive buckets from a late-model John Deere tractor (don't knock 'em 'till you've tried 'em). The original rear bench is still there, hidden behind the temporary bikini top, and if you need room for four, it's there. Cool half doors add a modicum of protection, but the best way to enjoy a Jeep like this is alfresco. The instrument panel is pure simplicity, with auxiliary gauges on the left and a big speedo on the right and a minimum of frills. A massive padded roll bar behind the seats has a few reinforcements, so it's ready in case worse comes to worst, and there are accessories like an axe, a vintage digging tool kit, and a fire extinguisher so you're pretty much ready for anything in this Jeep. Unusual but correct, it remains a reliable workhorse that will get you anywhere as long as there's fuel in the tank. Take the guy who built this 1984 Jeep CJ7 Laredo, which carries a lot of off-road gear, a potent 360 cubic inch V8, and a long list of options including A/C. It's one of the nicer ones we've featured and it looks fantastic. If you've been watching our inventory lately, you already know that these vintage Jeeps, especially built like this, just don't stick around very long. The vivid red paint job was finished in 2014, and it looks spectacular. We worry about Jeeps when they're this nice, because the new owner might be afraid to play in the dirt with it, and that would be a shame. So while it's clean and shiny, take a look at the straight bodywork, including all the reproduction Laredo decals that still look great after all these years. Then there's the solid body tub, rubber flares over the giant tires, and that Warn winch up front which has never been used. Lots of chrome details, ranging from the grille surround to the front and rear bumpers, as well as the twin exhaust pipes out back give it a lot of sparkle that will still show up when the Jeep's out in the brush playing. The paint itself is two-stage urethane, which is durable enough for the rough stuff, and shines up beautifully just by hosing it off. Clearly someone did it right when they put this one together. Jeep interiors have always been about function over form, and for utilitarian good looks, they've perfected the formula. Clearly this one was intended for serious fun off-road, which explains the form-fitting Bestop front buckets. It's still got that hardcore Jeep look that's 100% functional, but basic doesn't mean stripped, as there's spray-on bedliner material on the floor instead of the usual rubber mat and a powerful Jensen AM/FM/CD stereo with 4-inch speakers in the dash and 6x9s back that actually sound pretty darned good. The instrument panel and control layout is pretty close to what you got back in the early days of the Jeep brand, but if it works, why change it? There's also under-dash A/C and you can put it to use because the hardtop and steel doors seal up well enough to make this your daily driver. In 1984, nobody was making big horsepower, so the original engine in this Jeep was jettisoned and replaced by a sweet-running 360 cubic inch AMC V8. With the usual upgrades including an Edelbrock carb and intake and a set of Hedman long-tube headers dumping into a 3-inch exhaust system, it has plenty of power to get this Jeep just about anywhere. It also wears plenty of chrome dress-up, and shows tidy workmanship throughout, although the A/C compressor and power steering pump seem to dominate the engine bay. It's backed by a 4-speed manual gearbox and the original transfer case and axles, which hardly need an upgrade. And like many of its siblings, this CJ wears 15-inch chrome wheels with positively massive 31x10.5-15 Goodyear Wrangler off-road radials. These classic CJs will not be getting cheaper, and if you like to play in the dirt, this one is an option-laden solution that's ready to rock today. The big news is a modern fuel-injected 4.0 liter inline-six under the hood, but the clean paint, heavy-duty suspension, and comfortable interior all make this a 4x4 that you can use every day. There aren't many better tools for going to remote places than the CJ7, and the design captures the best of the classic Jeep look without being too archaic. This one wears a recent white paint job that looks quite good on the upright 4x4, especially with some subtle graphics on the doors. It isn't perfect, but on a Jeep, perfection is kind of a silly notion because you'd be afraid to use it as intended. Nevertheless, it has a great shine, super clean bodywork, and a hood that fits well. The removable doors are a favorite Jeep feature, and when combined with the removable hardtop, you have the best of open-air motoring combined with all-weather security. Big tubular bumpers and matching steps on the sides give it a suitably butch off-road look and rubber fender flares cover the oversized tires. To complete the off-road look, there are safety cages over the taillights, a full-sized spare perched on the tailgate, and a pair of big off-road driving lights on the front bumper. If you can't get there in this Jeep, you probably shouldn't be going. The interior is familiar Jeep with weatherproof materials and basic controls. However, that doesn't mean it's not user-friendly, with a custom center console with cup holders, recent neoprene seat covers, and a floor that's been covered with spray-in bedliner material so you can just hose it out after a day of fun. The custom 3-spoke steering wheel looks sporty and you'll note that with the engine transplant came some other niceties, including air conditioning and a 5-speed manual gearbox, making this a Jeep that's quite usable in the urban jungle. There's an AM/FM/cassette stereo in the dash along with the usual array of analog Jeep gauges and knobs, and for fun, you can lower the windshield for real in-your-face fun in the dirt. There's a cozy back seat for two and if you look carefully, you'll spot a pair of speakers tucked into the corners just ahead of the rear wheel wells. Forget the old carbureted six, this one sports Jeep's famous 4.0 liter fuel-injected six, a mainstay of Jeep production throughout the '90s and '00s. It's a neat fit in the CJ's engine bay and all the electronics that made it such a reliable workhorse have been successfully transplanted. It almost looks OEM under the hood and offers easy service, plentiful parts supplies, and legendary reliability. A high-mounted air filter allows it to slog through some pretty deep stuff and the condition of the inner fenders and firewall suggest that this has always been a clean southern vehicle. The 5-speed manual makes this Jeep a comfortable freeway cruiser yet the 2-speed transfer case and 4.10 gears ensure that it's effortless in the rough as well. The front axle includes a TruTrac Dana 30 while there's a Detroit Locker inside the AMC20 rear axle, so it's not going to get stuck. The suspension offers a 2.5-inch lift, a 1-inch body lift which help accommodate those big 33x12.50-15 Mickey Thompson meats on 15x8 Centerline wheels. This 1976 CJ5 offers a nice restoration with a few smart upgrades, making it stylish as well as capable in the rough stuff. The classic Jeep lines look great no matter what color you paint them, and this one clearly had a ton of time invested in the final result. The shape is familiar and we have always liked the little details that make the CJ5 special, things like the indentation behind the doors, as if a shovel was supposed to be strapped on, and the exposed hood latches. The tailgate has been welded closed to reinforce the tub and give the giant spare tire someplace to hang, but the rest of the body is quite stock. The paint is modern urethane so it shines up nicely after a day of playing in the dirt, and while Jeeps were never renowned for their fit and finish, this one looks great. New black rubber fender flares cover the oversized tires and it includes correct little details like side marker lights, proper Jeep taillights, and black tubular bumpers fore and aft. And yes, that's a chrome duck on the hood and no, why don't know why it's there. All we know is that we like it. Recently installed two-tone seat covers anchor the nicely appointed interior. The same bright red paint used on the body covers every unfinished interior surface, including the dash, and the floors are covered in spray-on bedliner material which makes for easy maintenance when you're out playing in the mud. There's also a stock rear bench for a pair of friends, and it, too has been upholstered in two-tone vinyl. The centrally-located Jeep gauges remain in the dash, joined by a trio of Auto Meter dials for temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. There's a modern AM/FM/CD stereo with speakers in a custom housing under the dash and both shifters have new boots and custom knobs, with the transfer case's knob looking like a chrome hand grenade. For emergencies, there's a removable bikini top, but it's mostly to keep the sun off you during those hot days playing in the mud. AMC's reliable 304 cubic inch V8 is incredibly torquey and virtually indestructible, and driving through a 3-speed manual gearbox and a two-speed transfer case it will go just about anywhere. It looks great under the hood with fresh engine enamel, a chrome air cleaner, and an open-element air cleaner, and there are a lot of new components throughout. An HEI ignition system lights the fires and there's a lot of new wiring to ensure reliability. Long-tube headers feed a great-sounding dual exhaust system with turn-downs just behind the rear axle, so it has a muscle car soundtrack when you're running hard. An upgraded suspension with a modest lift and new shocks all around ensure that it'll go through the rough stuff without complaint. Polished Centerline wheels are a great choice on a flashy Jeep and wear oversized Firestone off-road radials. Go ahead, have some fun, this Jeep was built for it. V8 engine, heavy-duty off-road equipment, upgraded interior, and niceties such as A/C and a powerful stereo all make this one of the most desirable CJs we've ever offered. If there's one thing we've learned in the past few years, it's that CJ7s are red hot in the market. They're not on everyone's radar, but we sell every single CJ7 we can get our hands on, and I would expect this one to be no different. The tan paint is in excellent condition, most likely repainted in the not-too-distant past simply because it's way too nice to be 30 years old. But that isn't to say it doesn't look authentic, because in addition to the high-gloss finish, there are correct stripes and 'LAREDO' decals on the sides of the hood, all of which take you right back to the funky, fun-loving '80s. Big black rubber fender flares give the CJ a wide-shouldered look and helps cover the large-by-huge tires underneath and for off-roading, having a big Warn winch on the front bumper is reassuring. There are also tubular steps along with a big spare tire mount out back, so you've got the essentials for both daily driving and weekend fun. Nice chrome bumpers, a shiny grille, and a pair of off-road lights add to the visual fun. The brown interior is relatively new and in outstanding condition, showing virtually no wear. The seat covers are reproductions of the originals and look great and unlike many of its siblings, this CJ is a bit more civilized and uses carpets on the floor instead of rubber mats. There's a locking center console for a bit of security in the open-topped Jeep, and upgrades such as A/C and an AM/FM/CD stereo system mean that you can drive this Jeep every day without complaint. A column-shifted automatic transmission is joined by the lever for the 2-speed transfer case on the floor and the sporty leather-wrapped steering wheel is a welcome bit of luxury. It includes a contrasting brown hardtop and painted steel doors, so inclement weather is never a problem in this awesome CJ. Originally powered by a six, this CJ7 now offers more power in the form of a correct AMC 304 cubic inch V8. It fits like it was born in there and it's pretty much the way the factory would have done it, including a heavy-duty air cleaner and an HEI ignition system. There's even corporate blue engine enamel on the block itself. Power steering and brakes are another bonus that helps with both daily driving and off-roading, and the A/C system is brand new and uses R134a refrigerant inside. The 3-speed automatic transmission and all the 4-wheel-drive hardware are in good order and it's surprisingly civil on the street, rolling with a pleasant V8 burble from the single tailpipe. It's unrestored underneath, but there's plenty of evidence of proper maintenance, ranging from the upgraded shocks to new bushings in the springs. Flashy chrome wheels are a very sporty look and carry giant 31x10.50-15 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A radials. This is one of those Jeeps that does everything well, and as a CJ7, it's at the very top of the desirability chart.
