This Jaguar was sold recently by means of the high bidder meeting reserve. As these things normally go, the buyer who did not see the car was not able to complete the sale. It's all good and here was the listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171805779470?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649 It seems if this car needed at least 15,000 dollars of welding, paint and interior, but...BUT it was three thousand dollars it would sell. Maybe there is some romance in getting an old heap to sputter to life that is lost on me; an allure that a nice car under the same circumstances just doesn't have. Fuel and brakes are not beyond the reach of a shade tree do it yourself mechanic. Body, paint and leather work, not so much. The homework that was necessary before the purchase of a neglected car that was parked for a reason was often not done and because of these overlooked realities, the cycle repeats and the car is parked again. Have I seen that movie before!

Originally my mother-in-law's car, bought new in 2000, I inherited it in 2007 with 38K miles in it. I maintained this car as if I was going to own it forever, unfortunately, never say "forever". Meticulously maintained with regular oil changes. Within the last 3 years it has had all new plugs, wires including coils, and new catalytic converters, left and right. Recently it had extensive suspension repairs replacing front and back sway arms links, upper and lower control arms, tie rod ends, front struts, and more, basically anything with a bushing that could go bad. This is a wonderfully maintained car ready for many more years on the road. The accident report is a deer hit. It ran across the road in front of me, into the on coming lane where a car hit it and tossed it back into my lane. Still on the binders, I hit it as it was lying on the ground. The jag got a new front fender, radiator and AC condenser. The deer got up and ran away.
