I bought this 1958 Jaguar Mark 1 3.4L saloon to fix up but I have too many projects. This car was a well optioned car back in 1958 with the factory wire wheels and automatic transmission. It has been off the road since the 1980s but is a pretty original low mileage car (46,899) with matching numbers engine and gearbox. The car was not running when I bought it. I cleaned the points, replaced the plugs, changed the oil and put a little lubricant down the spark plug holes. With a good battery and some fresh gas, I was able to start the car and run it for a few minutes. It sounded great except for one broken exhaust pipe which made it really loud. The starter carb even worked. I did not try to put it in gear and drive it since I am not sure if the brakes work. The car has the original leather seats and the carpet is in good condition. The interior wood is decent but the dash top needs to be re-finished. It has the usual Jaguar MK1 / MK2 rust and the outer rockers have rust/bondo and there is rust in the jack mounting points and rear spring mounting points. The rest of the body, doors, hood and trunk lid including the wheel wells are in good condition. The paint is cracking and the chrome has some pitting but the bumpers would clean up with some buffing. Overall this is a pretty nice original car to fix up and it would not take much to get it back on the road. There are a lot of Mark 2s out there but the Mark 1s are much rarer and a lot less survived. I can borrow my friends truck and trailer to assist with local shipping/delivery. Please ask any questions prior to buying/offers. Thanks for looking.
