This project started out with a 1950 International dump truck cab. This was placed on a shortened S 10 frame and a custom front end with air ride. front and rear disc breaks. The motor is a reconditioned chevy 350 very stock and detuned as this is a very light truck , very short wheel base , legal open wheel , It was built for a gentlemen who had experienced a stroke and was kept mild. The rear end is coil overs off a mid 70'S IROC. with dual exhaust out the end. The lights turn signals wind shield wipers , power windows and auto door pops all working as there are no handles on the out side. Glass is all good. New heater but no air . NO sound system. automatic 700 R4 trans. This is not the smoothest ride in the world but you could put air bags on the back if you did not like the coil over as the compressor has this capacity. There are a few chips in paint but slight and some of the pin strip is rubbed weak again not much. Aluminium radiator with a 39 cowl all metal that tilts out top allow access. power steering and a tilt column. Leather buckets in tan. There are one or two stains less than quarter size in carpet. I believe this build has between 500 and 1000 miles on it. IT has been in many car shows Central California and have won awards. This is what the previous owner liked to do. It is an eye turner and attracts attention so if you are shy you do not want this Truck. That photo in the dunes was taken at Pismo Beach Ca. On any given day thousands of people are there on the beach and in the dunes...rail buggies, vw baja bugs, jeeps...When I aired down the tires and cruised up the beach with the Scout...I had people giving me the thumbs-up and walking up to me to get a closer look. Wrangler unlimited rubicons are fine, but everybody and their brother has one...and have you priced one lately? This little Scout will go anywhere a stock rubicon will go and look better...turn more heads, doing it. By the way, as you can see in the photo, when the fiberglass double layer insulated top is off...there is absolutely nothing obscuring the view or separating inside from outside. Everything made today has posts, door frames in the way. The Scout is wide open. Out of the thousands of vehicles on the beach that weekend, the only International Scout was MINE! Guys wanted to buy it, girls wanted to get in and go for a ride...YOU WANT TO BE KING OR QUEEN FOR A DAY? Drive this little beast anywhere where people who like vehicles go...and you'll attract a crowd...and I do mean...IN A GOOD WAY. This little Scout II Traveler is mostly original, but with a two inch body lift, four inch suspension lift, including new High Country springs and shocks, new 33 inch Falken Wildpeak a/t tires on the original white spoke wheels, and a Detroit locker in the rear differential. I have the original line setting ticket, it has a Borg Warner t-428 4 spd trans. tc 146 2 spd transfer case, 3.73 gearing. Also an aftermarket 30 gal. fuel tank, giving the Scout a 600 mile range on one tank of diesel at 20mpg, and the Scout will get 25 mpg. It is fully optioned, including tilt wheel, sliding rear windows, power disc front and power drum rear brakes, power steering, factory air, which I just finished refurbishing including new compressor, clutch, drier, and expansion valve...it blows ice cold! This Scout drives straight down the highway and can do 70mph no problem...I drive it at about 55 to 60 though. It has good ground clearance and does very well offroad, especially with the rear locker, though it is not a rock crawler...and has never been abused in that way. The roof rack is extremely solid, one of a kind, and will handle anything you want to put up there. It's steel tubing with expanded steel basket. You can weld to it if you want brackets for a high lift jack, fuel cans...whatever. The top comes completely off, of course, and there is a bikini top that comes with the Scout too. It also has a rollbar...and lots of other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting. You could drive it coast to coast, no issues. The retrosound stereo is top of the line and looks like a period unit, but has handsfree bluetooth cellphone link, IPod and IPhone compatible, mp3/wma playback, two usb connections, and more. I have the original am fm pushbotton radio, which will go with the Scout. The pictures, I think, will say it all...but you are welcome ask questions through ebay. If you need to talk in person, leave me your number and I'll call you. There is absolutely no rust on this rig. I can't think of anything that doesn't work. This is one sweet little Scout! I reserve the right to end this auction early. Feel free to call me at 559-723-1338 for questions, more details and to make offers. I've had the Scout for about 6 years and have constantly made improvements to it, investing over $20,000. If you're close enough come take a look in person, drive it, and you'll see just how nice it is...call me...By the way...I didn't think it needed to be said but...everything is close to perfect...it rung perfectly...goes down the road straight, stops the same...shifts smooth and steers easily...sounds great with the new 3 inch custom manifold and pipe with no muffler. It seats four adults comfortably with lots of legroom...and when you put it in low 4 and 1st gear and let out the clutch...you can idle up just about anything!!! The diesel motor has lots of torque at low rpm. so you don't have to rev it to climb, you just idle up...it's really amazing! Also, when you go on a several day trail run with a club or whatever, and everybody wih gas engine rigs have to bring along five or six jerry cans of gas...you don't even need extra fuel...this rig will go six hundred miles on one tank...And if you want to ford deep water, well...there are no electronics, no spark plug wires, no points, no nothing...the entire engine can be submerged and it'll still run like a German sewing machine...just like it always does!! I don't know what else to say about this rig, except that I've owned gas Scouts, Toyota Land Cruisers, a Bronco, and even a British Land Rover...and this is the BEST all around rig I've ever owned. In fact...I know I'm going to regret selling her...and I'm selling her for only one reason: I'm afraid I'm gonna spend a whole bunch more money if I keep her. You see, there is one drawback to the little Nissan turbo diesel...while it's smooth and torquey, and gets incredible mileage...it doesn't tow heavy loads at high speed. When you put a heavy trailer behind it, you slow way down on hills at highway speed. So...if I keep her, I'm going to drop a cummins 4cyl. and a nv4500 5 spd in and triple the power...but that will cost mucho bucks...so, first, I'm going to see if there is some purist out there who wants to keep her as she is...still one of the nicest "almost" factory Scouts out there. So, don't buy a five thousand dollar Scout that has rust, a tired motor, worn out interior, bad brakes...etc. then spend twenty grand fixing it up. You're much better off paying fifteen for one that's near perfect...add your wench bumper and whatever...and spend your time in the driver seat instead of underneath on your back with a wrench!!! On Jun-25-15 at 13:04:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked a question about registration and it didn't post so...the Scout is smog exempt. When I bought it the tech. at the smog shop looked at the paperwork and signed off on it...no testing at all. By the way, this is a totally mechanical diesel...no computer, no electronics...If all the cars with electronics were to fry...this Scout would still be running...just sayin' for any survivalists out there. Also, because it's old school mechanical there is very little maintenance, plus, it's a perfect truck for running on veggie oil...
