2000 Honda Insight 50-60+ MPG !!! Car is perfect for a commuter car or just around town. It's been a great little car. We wanted to upgrade to a newer Insight and do not need this one anymore. Runs Great! All the services have been done at the Honda Dealership. Has a clean air certificate, so you can drive in the Diamond lane. It's had a transmission rebuild about a year and a half ago. Recently we had a new tensioner pulley and serpentine belt installed. The car has new paint in a light silver color. There is good tread on the tires -they are at about 50%. It has a dent in the rear bumper that has been there since we bought it. The check engine light is on because it needs a new catalytic convertor, and it won't pass California smog until the light is off. These cars are built to last and can easily see 300K-400K miles.

This is a nice 2000 Insight with a clean title. It is a nice car that gets great gas mileage because of the design of the car. It is made of high strength aluminum, has the preferred 5 speed transmission and weighs only 2200 pounds. That is 1000 pounds less than the Toyota Prius. It has a newly replaced IMA hybrid battery at the Honda Dealer on August 28th 2013 at 169,253 miles. It is the rarest color that Honda used for the 1st Gen Insight and is called "Citrus". Many Insight collectors say this color will be the only Insight that will actually be collectable in the very near future. I have not detailed it so it is dusty in the photos. Overall I'd give the paint a 9 out of 10. There are no blemishes beyond normal wear. The interior is stain free and it is clean. The tires are the recommended Bridgestone Potenza's, in good condition at 80% tread I'd say and the wheels are in good shape. The a/c blows cold and the heater works. Everything operates as it should. The IMA battery charges as it should and the autostop works perfectly because it is virtually brand new. My car comes with a cargo net for the back area and also the zipper bag Honda made available on certain models. It shifts as it should with no downshift grind. All VIN stickers are where they should be, even on the back bumper cover. This is an important question to ask other sellers. If you are paying top dollar for a 1st Gen Insight you need an accident free Insight which this is. If it is missing vin stickers you should ask why before buying. These cars last well into the 400,000 miles mark and will also go up in value because they are rare finds. Honda built very few of these cars world wide. Even Jay Leno, an avid car collector, says the 1st Generation Insight will soon be collectors items. They cost $30,000 to build. Honda still services them also. This model of Honda Insight is still to this day the absolute king of mpg of all hybrids. Sure you can buy an all electric Chevy Volt or even a Tesla but do you really want to spend $45,000 to $70,000 on a car that has a charge rate of just 5 miles per hour? Talk about limitations. I see these poor electric car owners waiting in line just so they can grab a quick 15 minute charge at one of 2 or maybe 3 charging stations at the local mall, so they are not stuck and need to walk home. I guess this is just part of electric car ownership. For basically the price of a used Ford Focus you buy my car and get 55+ miles per gallon or more depending on how you drive. You can literally drive for 600 miles without stopping for gas in my car. Where I live that is a trip to Las Vegas and back on 1 tank of fuel! The 1st Gen Insight was introduced into the US a full 7 months before the Toyota Prius so was the very 1st Hybrid on the market. Even today in 2016 no Prius or other hybrid car can beat my car's mpg. Only 200 were ever made out of 17,000 total worldwide. Of this number some have said fewer than 100 might still be "alive" in the world and of this number fewer than 50 might be in the US but this is pure speculation. Lastly, I am a small car dealer here in Orange, California. This means you are protected in your purchase because I am licensed and bonded. I specialize in these Insights. If you buy this and live in California you will also need to add salestax. I pay all other fees. You pay sales tax even with a private party sale but you pay it at the dmv so it does not feel like an extra fee, just expensive registration. But I collect this sad to say, not the dmv. In fact I complete all dmv paperwork for free if you want. If you prefer to do it that is fine also. If you live out of state you do not need to pay me sales tax. I am also just taking a guess at my price. There is an identical car that sold a few months ago for $12,500 but with less miles so I know these are finally hitting the "collectable price". But if you are buying it for your daily driver I understand if you do not agree with my price so let me know what you think is more fair and we can work something out. Honestly I'd rather keep it and sell my silver or one of my red 5 speeds but for now I will try to sell this one. I can also pick you up at the airport if you buy it and live out of state. I purchased a 2000 Honda Insight with 39,299 original miles from a Southern California City. The city registered it on 12/19/2000 with 20 miles on the odometer. They had possession, and their mechanics maintained it until I purchased it a short while ago. Air conditioning and Keyless Entry are but two of the many extras included in this well- equipped 5-Speed sport auto. All systems are operational. This Insight is original and in very good mechanical condition. The Owner’s Manual (all 250 pages of it) is in the glove-box. The spare tire is in its rear compartment. The lug wrench is still in bubble wrap inside its vinyl pouch, and another larger vinyl pouch encloses the unused jack. There is a small bump in left rear corner plastic underbumper just rear of the wheel skirt. (Refer to pics #2 & #3.) On January 9, 2016, with 39,413 miles on the odometer, I had Hybrid Revolt install a New High Current 8-Amp Hour IMA Battery in the Insight. The new battery has a 1-year transferable warranty. However, the warranty may be extended for an additional two years for just $100 per year anytime during the first year. The new owner may contact Hybrid Revolt and request the optional two-year extended warranty be added (for a total three years and $200). A battery harness that is required when adding a grid charger was also installed. Four Potenza RE92 tires with high-tread are on the Insight. On the driver-side door-jam is noted “color R-510”. The city had put its logos on the Insight doors and rear quarter panels. They were removed before being sold, and are barely noticeable. The paint on the small 39 inch by 32 inch top of the Insight has faded, somewhat. The remainder of the paint looks good. I ran a history report with “Auto Check” on January 7, 2016. It is a very complete check, but short due to the fact that in the “Detailed Vehicle History” section there are only three events noted on it (instead of ten or fifteen on higher-mileage and/or multi-owner vehicles). I WILL ONLY SELL THIS INSIGHT DURING A PERSON TO PERSON TRANSACTION. NO "BUY IT NOW". If you are in or going to be in the Los Angeles area stop by and look it over, then drive it. Here is a California 2000 Honda Insight with 34,210 actual miles for sale.   I purchased it from a city in the Los Angeles area.   The city registered it on 12/08/2000 with 83 miles on the odometer.  The title was issued to the city on 12/20/2000. They owned and maintained it until I purchased it.   All systems are operational (the Auto Idle Stop took me awhile to get confidence in it, the engine really does self-start).   The Insight is in very good mechanical condition and, completely original.  The Owners Manual (all 250 pages of it) is in the glove compartment.  The spare tire has never been used; the lug wrench is still in bubble wrap inside its vinyl pouch, and another, larger vinyl pouch encloses the unused jack.   The silver paint is original and still has the wet, shiny look over most of the Insight.  The paint on the middle of the hood is a little dull looking along with the small sized roof of the car.   The city logos that were on the sides of the vehicle having been removed.  When I found out that the Insight might be sold I looked into that possibility.  It was said that the city had more than one hybrid in the last 15 years.   The IMA batteries were conditioned every five years.   After a few more inquiries about the Insight at different locations,  I ran an Auto-Check on it.  I purchased the Insight.  The car is a pleasure to drive (no IMA light).  It is very nimble and quick. The occasional 60 to 70 mpg on the indicator looked good.  There is only one insurmountable problem for me.  The 5-speed manual trans!   Due to the fact that I’m 83 years young and haven' t driven a car with a manual transmission in years, especially in traffic, my left leg and knee limited the driving time in traffic to about 30 minutes. The ACCESS OK Stickers are on it (freeway pass).  This Insight is very clean, inside and out.  The license plates are valid until October, 2017.  The Insight is in the Santa Ana, CA area.  I would rather you view the Insight in person before purchasing it.  If you are in the area, or are going to be in the area soon to be able to inspect it, let me know and I will provide you with the exact Santa Ana location.  No texting, please.  Inquiring by email or phone is OK.    Thanks,  Jack
