For sale is my 2000 Mercury Cougar Special Edition. This car is one of a kind and not something you’re going to see every day… I am the second owner of this beautiful car and I have babied it for the last 10 years. I started modifying it right after I bought it, purchasing 1 or 2 parts here and there. I finally completed it a few months ago. The car runs and drives fantastic! I made sure the car stopped and handled as good as, if not better than, it accelerated. The car stops extremely well and the suspension mods allow it to handle the curviest roads with ease but still comfortable to drive. The motor sounds great with upgraded intake and exhaust and it idles and accelerates smooth and quick. The NOS was more for show and short burst of acceleration. The car has not been raced but it is really fast with the NOS on, especially 1st thru 3rd gears. I have put 3 bottles through it with no hiccups and the plugs were removed and inspected after each use. It’s currently fitted with a .75 shot which is recommended for this application. Everything works perfectly and there are no issues with the car. I spared no expense when it came to this car as I wanted everything to be right. The paint is original and in really good shape for being 17 years old. There a few minor rock chips and minor scratches and such but the body is overall in good to excellent condition. The Interior is in about 98% or higher condition. No tears, rips, or other issues. The car is a head turner and I always get comments and questions about the car. I have put the car in local car shows and people just love it. I hate to see it go but it’s time to move on to the next project so this one needs a good home with someone who will appreciate the time and work I have put into this car. It comes with cold ac, power everything, sun roof and all the custom features that came stock on this car. You can feel free to speak with my mechanic. (THE WHITE AREA ON THE TOP OF THE LEFT FRONT FENDER IS SNOW NOT MISSING PAINT). Same owner for the last 27 years. I sold this car 27 years ago to a friend and am now reselling it for them. This car would make a great project for the right person. It needs some refurbishing. I will list the pluses and minuses. It is completely original as it was owned by a professional who used it for daily transportation. The engine was redone about 70K miles ago and runs strong. The turbo works great as does the clutch and transmission. Has original removable roof panels.The body is very straight except two areas (see photos) but the clear coat is peeling in several places. The seats have no rips and the upholstery is in good condition. The heat and sun have damaged the dash, it will need to be replaced or recovered. Also damaged is the covering on the center console lid, e-brake boot, shift boot (I have ordered the parts to replace the e-brake boot, shift boot and recover the console lid), steering wheel cover and the outside markings of many of the buttons in the dash (climate control etc). The sun has also damaged the black coating on the stainless moldings around the doors and windows. They would need to be removed and either coated or polished. I have not tested all of the buttons in the climate control, suspension setting etc for function. The headlights open and close as they should and the cruise control works as do the p. windows. The rear end is very noisy. I have found locking differentials with 40k-60K miles on them for $399 plus shipping. A non turbo rear end will swap and there are quite a few used ones around as low as $250 but they do not have limited slip. The car is able to be driven while it is fixed up. Would make a great car to gut the interior and put a roll cage in, upgrade the turbo and injectors and make a wild street or race machine.
