Today, ASC/McLarens are supported by a well-organized club and parts network. In addition, the ASC/McLaren Mustang is a comparatively affordable muscle car, although performance cars from the Eighties have seen a recent upswing in collectability among enthusiasts. BODY & INTERIORContrary to what one may think, Ford did not send incomplete, body-in-white LX coupes to ASC/McLaren. Each was complete, including the aforementioned 5.0 engine and GT underpinnings. Henry Huisman, who worked at ASC and is now the owner of Paradise Automotive--supplier of NOS, reconditioned and used ASC/McLaren parts in Odessa, Florida (www.ascmclaren.com)--tells us they were also fitted with the GT front fascia from the factory."Once they took delivery of the car, they cut the top off and removed the interior in order to fit their own manually-folded top and power metal tonneau cover. Like the Capri, they pulled the windshield back about 20 degrees, which necessitated the installation of side windows unique to these cars. They also added side skirts, taillamp covers and a rear spoiler, and removed the stock emblems," explains Henry.Once the exterior modifications were completed, the cars were then painted a variety of special colors, which varied from one year to the next. "Ford shipped the cars, usually finished in silver or black, so in most cases the door sticker--which would have the paint code--will not match what ASC/McLaren ultimately applied. The underside of the hood should still exhibit the original Ford color," cautions Henry.Interiors were also extensively modified. With the rear seat removed, additional storage was made available, à la Corvette, below the stowed top and corresponding cover. The front seats were given extra padding and re-covered in embroidered leather; door panels and the armrests were also redesigned. Standard Mustang GT instrumentation remained, however.Standard features included power steering, tinted windows and even air conditioning later in the series; however, options such as a Whistler radar detector and Recaro bucket seats were few. The Recaros were dropped after 1988, mostly due to the fact few buyers selected the $1,500 option. Red/Black leather interior. Navigation, Sync, MP3/USB, dual environment, Cruz, etc. Six speed manual and will turn the tires in 4/6 gears. I love this damn thing but I need a new truck. A brand new 2007 Mustang GT was taken to Sanderson and completely customized to pay tribute to the original 1967 Eleanor style Mustangs that are so popular today. The engine underwent a complete Saleen Speedlab Series VI performance upgrade. Which includes a twin-Screw blower that features an integrated long-runner intake manifold along with a two-stage, water-to-air intercooling system and a BBK Cold Air Induction system. Shorty Jet-Hot coated headers were installed and mated to the side exit exhaust. The suspension was pulled off and upgraded to a combination of Saleen Speedlab suspension parts and Eibach Multi-Pro R2 coilovers. Huge front and rear Saleen swaybars. The Eibach coilovers are completely adjustable by the turn of a knob either under the hood for the fronts or right behind the rear tires for the back. Drilled and slotted, Baer Eradispeed +2 brakes were added both front and rear to handle the additional horsepower. And a B&M short shift kit and 4.10 gears were also installed. The body is also completely reworked to resemble the Eleanor. Hand molded upper and lower scoops, molded side rockers and molded rear duck tail spoiler. Hand crafted custom vents are built into the front fenders. Custom front and rear fascia was made specifically for these 50 cars. The SCT-M3000 is also given a complete custom paint job. The Tungsten Gray color looks amazing and Silver stripes are painted and cleared over. You cannot feel the stripes, so you know it was done correctly. HID headlights, fog lights and sequential taillights complete the makeover. The interior features custom embroidered headrests, a Hurst shifter knob, push button start and custom dash plaque. This Mustang GT was loaded up before all of the upgrades, so it was optioned with heated Black leather seats and a Shaker 500 stereo system. Black W/ Chameleon Paint Accents on Hood and Doors. Paint job was very expensive and looks great for 15 years old. Has Hail damage from being in the Midwest and got stuck outside in a bad storm. Was upsetting since the car was in a garage all the time. Hail damage on the trunk, top, quarter panels, fenders, and moldings around the Windows. Everything else is fiberglass. Rebuilt Title was from the car getting totaled out in 1998 shortly after the original owner purchased the car and was side swiped on the passenger side. The current front end damage happened a couple years back.The radiator housing got bent back an inch or so causing the aftermarket hood not too latch properly. I had to install hood pins so I could commute to and from Phoenix. The entire front is a little off centered and will need to be straightened up or cut off at the welds and a new radiator support re-welded on. The engine is in perfect condition minus the radiator reservoirs clips snapping. Cowl Induct Hood ready for supercharger. Full Saleen Body Kit Minus the front bumper, has a mustang v6 bumper. There are normal dings/scratches and the roofs clear coat is bubbling Rear bumper has 2 cracks from the glue coming loose underneath and water catching inside the bumper and ripping it back during the same bad storm. Passenger door trim is cracked.-Short Throw Shifter for awesome control of the gears-3.73 Limited Rear Slip Differential Gears - Brembo Brake Kit with Slotted Rotors - Chrome Cobra Rep. Rims 18x9 in the back, 17x9 in the front -Bassani X-Pipe & Borla Exhaust cat-back- Trunk is off a 1996 Cobra-Cobra Badging- Charcoal/Gray cloth interior, excellent condition minus driver seat which needs replaced.-Speakers & Tweeters (MB quart)-Amplifiers(Phoenix Gold 1000w & JL Audio 1000w) -Subwoofers 2 - 12W6 JL Audio Competition Series.-Head Unit(Alpine) Competition Series-The subs are in a custom enclosed/Plexi Glass box that takes up the whole trunk. The car has sound killing material all around the car (Dynamat;Spray Foam) ***Bads***(Besides the body issues stated above)-Car started to have fuel pump issues before I parked the car-The power windows and power locks relay(s) went out. I was told that it should be the same relay for both issues. I just don't have the time or patience to go through and find and test all the relays. -Needs 2 new front tires and one new front rim. This could be a great project car for someone with the space and time. Very fun car and big attention grabber.
