1970 FORD GALAXIE XL CONVERTIBLE 1970 Ford Galaxies – Background: 1970 Ford Galaxies were built bigger and stronger than previous models – becoming more luxury-oriented as years passed as engineers worked hard to achieve a quiet ride and luxury car comfort. The 1970 lineup had 21 new models with several body style choices, including: 3 LTD Broughams, 5 LTDs, 2 XLs, and 6 Galaxie 500s. These models were offered in 2 & 4-door hardtop, 2 & 4-door sedan, sports-roof, and convertible body styles. 1970 Galaxies had six engine choices: the 240 6-cylinder was economy, the 302 V-8 was 220 horsepower, the 351 was 250 horsepower, and the big block 390 was 265 horsepower. Performance buyers could choose from 2 or 4-barrel carburetor 429 big block power plants rated at 320 and 360 horsepower. Only 6,348 convertibles were made in 1970. Details of this Sale: I purchased this car in 2010 as its 4th owner. I quickly discovered issues under its red paint and began a 3+ year restoration. While it’s not Concourse quality, it is in very nice restored condition. Everything I've restored is rust-free, rarely touches a wet road, and hasn’t been it any winter conditions. It and has a rebuilt, and much more powerful, engine. Most mechanicals and all rusted sheet metal were replaced with NOS or new parts. You are better off buying this car from me than trying to restore one like it yourself. $13,000 is nowhere near the total investment I have in this fun and fully-functional convertible. Serious buyers… please contact me. Vehicle Specifications: VIN#: OU61Y10993Miles: 61,000Original Base MSRP: $3,501 Length: 214 inches; Width: 80 inches; Height: 54 inches; Weight: approx 3,600 lbs.
