1950 F-1This truck has a very good running flat head V8 and a 4 speed transmission. When driving the truck you need to double clutch the truck in between shifting gears or the transmission grinds when trying to go into gear. Even with the double clutch you need to position the stick right when switching gears or it will still grind. I don't know if this is typical or if the transmission is just getting worn out. The engine was converted to start with the key instead of the original push button start on the dash (which now operates a horn). The engine starts every time, without hesitation. It idles very nice and drives down the road great (once you get used to shifting the transmission). It goes down the road nice and straight and has very good tires and wheels. The brakes also function great. It has a very nice sounding dual exhaust (not too loud). The truck was converted to 12 volt and has newer gauges installed as well. All the lights and electrical work good. It still has the original heater and the dash was not cut up for a stereo or anything. The interior and the paint was all redone about 16 years ago. The interior still looks good with no tears in the seat. The head liner is all still in good condition and the floor is very solid. All the glass is in great shape other than the two wing windows have a little bubbling on the bottom of them. There is some bondo that is coming off in a few areas on the body of the truck. Also, the paint is starting to crack in a few areas. I tried to take detailed pictures of all the areas. The worst areas is on the hood, the back tow fenders and where the running boards meet the fenders. It's been driven for the last 16 years after the paint was done, so there is typical wear and tear on the exterior and interior. The paint could be addressed or driven as is. It still looks very nice from a distance. Someone installed two metal skulls on the front fenders as you can see in pictures. The running boards are in good shape. The hood was redone about 3 years ago and is a slightly different shade of blue than the rest of the truck. The engine bay looks pretty good and the frame and undercarriage is in very good shape. This is a very fun weekend driver. 1950 F1 PickupOriginal Flat Head V8 and 3 speed tranny. We have an awesome original condition 1950 Ford. This is a two owner truck and the second owner has been family friends with the original owner his hole life, so he knows this truck very well. This truck has been very well cared for over the last 65 years. It has been a driver and used on a regular basis, which is probably why it still runs so good. About six years ago they put in a lot of new seals and hoses, they cleaned the radiator, gas tank, put all new glass in it, recovered the seat (which now has two rips in it) and went thru all the brakes. It has been parked in my driveway for 4 days and there is not a single oil leak on it!!! It has dual exhaust with glass packs. I didn't bother detailing the interior or exterior just to show how well cared for this truck really was. Everything except the horn works as it should.....original heater, lighter, ash tray, all gauges, glove box, dome light, all lights. The doors shut extremely tight and don't rattle at all when your driving down the road. The seals around the driver and passenger widows are newer and don't allow air thru them. The head liner was falling down years ago and the top of it was removed. The bed and most of the body is very straight for being 65 years old. The wood bed is in place under a thin sheet of metal, but I'm guessing it's rotten. The two running boards have the most rust. Neither of the bumpers are original to the truck. About 34 years ago someone ran the front bumper into something and it was removed and a new one was installed in front and back. There is some visible damage to the body on the front of truck still. It is also missing the center piece under the grill from the same incident. This truck cold starts great, just pull the choke half way out and it starts right up and is ready to drive in 5 minutes, even after sitting a while. It drives very nice down the road, even at 45 or 50. The transmission shifts perfect and it feels solid cruising down the road. It needs tires. I have the original four wheels that will be sent in the bed of the truck (but no hub caps) It has been converted to 12 volt and they replaced the old oil bath filter system. This truck just amazes me every time I drive it. The wonderful original condition of the body and drive train is awesome. Very hard to find!! I have always appreciated the original preserved vehicles over the completely restored garage queens. Anybody can put $25,000 or more into restoring a vehicle, but it's hard to find them this original in running condition. It would be nice to see someone keep it as is and clear coat it. There are five small rust spots that would need attention before the clear coat. The under side of the vehicle is solid as well. Please do not hesitate to email any questions and leave your # if you would like a call.
