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his is a Super COOL, original southern Cal black plate 66 V8 Dart GT in very nice, rust free, low mile condition. Nicely preserved and maintained. Rebuilt matching 318 motor, 3speed auto, and Sure Grip Posi rear... nice set up!! It is a nice driver quality car with V8 power! Original black plate California car came to me in primer... I had it prepped and dip wrapped in hot rod satin black. The car looks great... the wrap can easily be roved if desired. Bumpers and moldings are nice underneath. Car and runs/feels great... definite daily driver capable. Excellent weekend cruiser or addition to any collection. Body is super super straight with no rust or collision damage that I can see. Professional quality wrap presents beautifully with only minor blemishes. Frame pans and chassis are clean and solid. Interior is pretty nice as well. Panels are great... Gauges and electronics work properly. Has a new headliner which could have been installed a little better... I have a new carpet kit for it... just waiting for my upholstery guy to return fro vacation. Seats were redone in cloth at some point and need to be done again... I like the covers.. goes with the street fighter look. Rebuilt 318 Motor starts, runs, and idles excellent... rebuilt trans has a shift kit and shifts smooth through the gears. Suspension feels tight and handles great... has factory power steering and power brakes with disk up front stop straight and sure. Great reliable driver. Overall this is an very nice Dart Gt in fantastic condition all around... it is well preserved and maintained. Awesome weekend cruiser, potential show car, or addition to any collection. 71 Dart Swinger 2 DR hard top plum crazy with a 5/69 casted 340. Hi- po manifolds,A/C not working but all components are there, pwr steering, pwr drum brakes, purple LED lit stereo/CD/USB with remote. Bench seat with headrests, interior in great shape. This is a great driver with new plugs,cap,rotor,8mm wires, shocks,rear u-joint, tranny service,reared service,rebuilt edelbrock 600 carb, tank sending unit, and fuel pump. It has its original 904 and 7.25 rear 2.76 gears. Tires in great shape. Go-wing, transverse stripe, chin spoiler and dual hood scoop. All gauges work except factory temp but does have working aftermarket gauges and tach. New quarter window regulator bushings. There is a slight crease in driver quarter panel. Probably can be massaged with a good PDR tech. There are a few bubbles in paint and minor rust spots as this car came from Hawaii but very solid otherwise. Sounds like a high lift cam with nice lope at idle. Runs and drives great. Could use new front end bushings and a disc brake conversion would be nice also.
