From the handsome styling to a strong-running 273 cubic inch V8, this neat hardtop is an unusual Dodge that delivers performance and big car comfort in one sleek package. If this car has been repainted, it was a while ago and the burgundy paint looks pretty original to us. That means it's not perfect, but it does have an honest shine that might get even better with some attention. The color combination is excellent, perfect for highlighting Chrysler's famous cantilever styling, with the Coronet in particular wearing it especially well. That paint also showcases some very straight bodywork, which is critical on a car like this, which is all angles and flat planes, so there's no place for haphazard bodywork to hide. The doors open and close with impressive precision, indicative of Chrysler's quality in the '60s, and everything lines up rather well. The trim shows some signs of age, with the usual light pitting and fading on many of the components, but given the car's overall look and the just-right patina, we think it looks right and the important stuff like the tail panel, lenses, and glass is all in great condition. The all-original red cloth interior looks surprisingly welcoming and shows quite well considering it's 50 years old. UV rays and time are tough on red fabrics, so there's a bit of fading, but nothing that would warrant replacement. Perhaps the most interesting feature is good old three-on-the-tree shifting, which makes this big hardtop a lot of fun to drive, but you also get that cool steering wheel and pushbuttons for the ventilation system, a very futuristic touch in 1965. The gauges are original and show rather well and the factory-installed AM radio is still in the dash, although it's probably ready for an upgrade. The back seat is remarkably spacious and it feels bright and airy inside thanks to that dramatic roofline and plenty of glass. You also get a massive trunk that's equipped with a recent plaid mat and a full-sized spare on a matching painted steel wheel. The 273 cubic inch V8 under the hood makes the Coronet a lot of fun to drive. As far as we can tell, this is the car's original engine and it's nicely detailed in Hemi Orange and quite stock, so it has that super-smooth idle that made Chryslers famous in the 1960s. There's also plenty of torque, especially with the 3-speed manual gearbox, and with a 2.5-inch dual exhaust system, it certainly sounds as racy as it looks. Dance with the clutch properly and the car launches effortlessly and snaps to attention when you crack the throttle. Underneath, you get Chrysler's famous torsion bar front suspension that rides well and offers reasonably sporty handling, while out back there's an 8.75-inch rear end with highway-friendly gears, so this coupe is a great highway car. The chassis is also original, so it's not detailed, but it also looks to have spent its life someplace where snow and salt were not a problem and it looks awesome sitting on Magnum 500s with fat 225/60/15 Uniroyal radials all around. We love the way this car looks, the way it sits, and best of all, the price tag. A cool Mopar with V8 power and a reasonable price tag means you can be having fun this weekend for not a lot of cash. The bright red paint shows off the angular body quite well and with a burly 440 under the hood, it more than lives up to the hype. Add in a few desirable factory options, a cool bucket set interior, and you end up with a Mopar that tops to the cool charts. This car was originally yellow, but given how non-committal the colors were back in 1966, the red works just fine. It's an attention-grabber, that's for sure, but the good news is that they seem to have gone the extra mile to make it tidy. You'll note that the detailing on the quarter panels is crisp, the crease along the top of the fender is sharp enough to give you a paper cut, and the smooth, flat areas are distortion-free. The only way to get all that is time and effort, and it shows. The paint shines up beautifully and the gloss is really impressive, and the red really sets off this car's more aggressive look that's often lost on the softer colors. I'm glad they skipped the vinyl roof, too, because draping the dramatic roofline in red only makes it stand out that much more. The chrome and trim is in good condition, a combination of original trim and new bumpers fore and aft. The black interior looks pretty stock at first glance, and admittedly there's not much you can do to improve the original designers' work. However, up close (and it's hard to see in photos), there's red stitching on the seats that is super subtle yet makes a big impact when you open the door. The carpets were probably replaced a few years ago and plenty of the trim is original and in good condition. A center console and that oh-so-cool shifter for the automatic transmission are pure Mopar and the instrument panel includes a pretty complete array of original gauges. The original AM radio still lives in the dash and there's factory A/C, too, but both will need some service to be in top condition for cruising. The headliner and dash pad are in excellent condition and the trunk is properly dressed with a reproduction mat and a jack assembly stashed in the quarter panel. This car was no slouch when it was new, since it came with a 383 under the hood. Sometime in 2012, however, someone swapped it out to a correctly-dated 440 cubic inch V and dressed it up like the factory put it there. From the original air cleaner to the corporate turquoise paint on the block, it has a very OEM look under the hood. The A/C compressor dominates the top of the engine, but if you look closely you'll see chrome valve covers and a new wiring harness that was installed last year. The TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission is augmented with a shift kit that snaps off gear changes without hesitating, and the original 8.75-inch rear end carries street-friendly 3.23 gears. The dual exhaust sounds fantastic, and the floors are painted to match the body, so you know there's nothing hiding underneath. Air shocks, a new gas tank, and stock Rallye wheels with fat 245/60/14 white-letter radials round out the list of combat-ready features. Surprisingly fast yet completely civil, this is the kind of Mopar muscle that built the legends. Best of all, it's still insanely affordable, so call today! 1966 Dodge Coronet for Sale 1966 Dodge Coronet for Sale Stock # 2092-ATL Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. Sporting what appears to be an all-original interior, clean bodywork, and a smooth 273 cubic inch V8 under the hood, it's a cool cruiser that won't break the bank. With a soft gloss, the code W White paint looks ideal on the long Coronet's angular bodywork. It has been repainted once and they did a rather good job of it, but it wasn't ever intended to be a show car. There are a few chips here and there indicative of its age, but overall, the presentation is impressive. Super straight body panels show crisp details and good panel alignment that further reinforce the suggestion that this car has never been apart or in an accident. A lot of folks really like the sharply folded lines of the mid-60s Chryslers, and the slick cantilevered roofline is instantly identifiable from a mile away, especially with a black vinyl covering as on this sleek hardtop. Things like the fine grille, the chrome bumpers, and the polished stainless strip along the body are further evidence of this car's easy life, and it sure looks like all the glass is original. Correct badges and the satin silver tail panel insert are in excellent condition, making this the kind of car that brings a smile to your face when you see it. The all-original black bench seat interior proves once again that the Chrysler stylists were at the top of their game in the '60s, and even the base bench seat got detailing on the backrests that makes it look far more upscale than its price tag would suggest. There's a dashboard full of real gauges, not idiot lights, and a slender steering wheel that allows you to guide the car with little more than your fingertips. Mopar experts will note that this car has A/C and it's fully functional, still using R12 refrigerant inside. Black carpets might be new, since they're so nice it's hard to believe they've got five decades on them, and the original door panels show some light aging but zero damage. The original Music Master AM radio remains in the dash and it, too, is fully functional. In back, the massive trunk offers enough storage for an army, as well as a recent and correct mat with the spare tire stashed underneath. A period-correct 273 cubic inch V8 remains under the hood, and it still looks pretty original. It's not detailed for show, but the air cleaner has been repainted to match what appear to be the original red valve covers, which dress up the engine a bit. The big A/C compressor dominates the engine bay, but all the hoses and clamps are recent, as is the master cylinder, so you know it's been properly maintained. It's impossibly smooth the way only '60s Mopars seem to be and despite its small size, it makes good torque that moves the Coronet with ease. A Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission channels thrust to an 8.75-inch rear and a single exhaust pipe gives it a nice V8 burble and reinforces the torque curve. Standard steel wheels with color-matched hubcaps look suitably low-key and wear 205/75/14 whitewall radials. This neat Coronet also comes with its original warranty card, maintenance records, and owner's manual. Clean, simple, and honest, this Coronet is a great way to get into the hobby for not a lot of money. Galen Govier certified 1-of-1 MOPAR, matching-numbers big block, 4-speed manual transmission, Track Pack, an awesome color combination, and a restoration that's so fresh you can still smell the paint. And even at this price, it has to represent some kind of bargain for this much performance. With just 29 miles on the restoration, it should and does look like a million bucks. The Y2 paint is simply called "Yellow" and we can't argue with how it looks. It's not an in-your-face bright color, but a little softer shade that seems all the more appealing when it's plastered all over one of the nastiest muscle cars of the era. The sheetmetal was expertly prepped prior to a drop of paint being sprayed, and while the gaps are better than they were from the factory, a bit of tweaking would make them nearly perfect. The smooth hood carries a pair of hood scoops that were a Chrysler trademark during the muscle car era and the black bumblebee stripe reminds onlookers that this isn't merely a pretty 1960s ragtop but a pretty gnarly piece of hardware. R/T badges were installed as appropriate and the chrome bumpers are in excellent shape. The black bucket seat interior shows off a few desirable upgrades that suggest the original owner decided to splurge a little bit on his new Coronet. A center console for the 4-speed is the most obvious upgrade, and it also carries a full set of Rallye gauges including a Tick-Tock-Tach. Hurst provided a cue ball knob and shifter for the 4-speed gearbox and the factory AM/FM/8-track radio is fully functional and is a very rare find all by itself. Seat covers, door panels, and the carpets are new and ready for show, demonstrating that upscale muscle definitely has its appeal. There's a black power convertible top overhead and the Coronet is one of the few ragtops that looks great top up or top down, and it, too, was recently installed. The trunk is correctly outfitted with a reproduction mat and a full-sized spare tire. The 440 cubic inch powerplant under that twin-snorkel hood is the original, numbers-matching 440 cubic inch V8 that many would argue is the best choice in a muscle Mopar for guys who like to drive. Rebuilt and detailed for show, complete with a functioning Ramcharger cold air induction system, it's plenty powerful and throws this big convertible around like it weighs 800 pounds less than it does. Correct details throughout the engine bay include hoses and clamps, fasteners, and those wonderful cast iron exhaust manifolds that flow just as well as headers. Interestingly enough, it's got manual steering and brakes, suggesting that performance was paramount when the order sheet was being filled out, and to be honest, you probably won't miss them even with that big chunk of iron sitting over the front axle. It's equipped with a 4-speed manual that has quick throws and powers a robust Dana 60 rear end with 3.54 gears on a Sure Grip limited slip, which was mandatory equipment with the 4-speed. It's also got the Track Pack option, which adds a few upgrades that most drivers will find useful. Finally, it's got a set of butch-looking black steel wheels like the A12 cars and they're wrapped in 225/70/15 BFGoodrich redline radials for a period look. Beautifully restored, incredibly rare, and with a very strong pedigree, this investment-grade Mopar is the kind of car that major collections are built around. In addition to the beautiful cantilevered roof styling, it offers big block power, great colors, and it's seldom-seen at local cruise nights, so you can bet on getting plenty of attention. The handsome straight lines of these cars have aged well. They capture the '60s almost perfectly, but with angular lines and wonderful detailing they wear it proudly. Aside from the top, which still wears its original white vinyl covering, by the way, the most dramatic feature must be those quarter panels which seem to be pointing forward into the future. The one part of the '60s we're glad it didn't bring with it was the original light green paint, which would be as stylish as an avocado-colored refrigerator today, and instead wears a medium blue that's a lot more attractive and probably won't go out of fashion anytime soon. The sheetmetal is straight and in good shape, with doors that fit well, and when it was repainted it was thoroughly disassembled because there's no sign of the original green paint. Much of the trim remains original, including the "electric shaver" grille, and the bumpers were freshened more recently, perhaps when it was painted. Overall, it has a nice, all-of-a-piece look that's pretty compelling. The sparkling white interior is also a combination of original and restored parts that works really well. Bench seats are made for cruising and there are newer carpets on the floor, black to really anchor the interior. The dash and gauges are crisp and sharp, surrounded by a gorgeous steering wheel with one of the last horn rings in the industry. The original AM radio remains in the dash, and even though there aren't a lot of options, there's a certain appeal to the no-nonsense Coronet's dedication to performance. The back seat is original and looks quite good for being nearly 50 years old and the massive trunk is fitted with a correct plaid mat and an original jack strapped to the inner quarter panel. Despite the car's size, it's a relative lightweight piece, so the 383 cubic inch V8 under the hood delivers stirring performance. It's a vintage 1964 block rebuilt to stock specs, so it's smooth and torquey at any speed. There's an Edelbrock 4-barrel up top, along with a chrome air cleaner, but otherwise it's quite stock. With a coat of corporate turquoise paint, it looks right at home there. Power steering and brakes are welcome additions to a car that can gather speed like this one can and the Torque Flite 3-speed automatic transmission always seems to find the right gear when you need it. Twin Flowmaster mufflers give it an awesome muscle car sound and as a lifelong California car, the undercarriage is in great shape. We've seen restored cars that didn't look as good as this one does underneath! Awesome Magnum 500-style wheels are the right look on any performance car of this vintage and they carry 205/75/14 blackwall radials that enhance the car's serious performance demeanor. For the Chrysler fan who likes to go a little bit outside the lines, this Coronet delivers plenty of performance with a more grown-up look. Vehicle Information VIN: WH23G75145322 Stock: 2075-ATL Mileage: 80,461 Color: Blue Trans: Automatic Engine: MPG: Drivetrain: Description Chrysler might have been late to the pony car party, but they practically invented personal muscle with cars like this 1967 Dodge Coronet 440 hardtop. In addition to the beautiful cantilevered roof styling, it offers big block power, great colors, and its seldom-seen at local cruise nights, so you can bet on getting plenty of attention. The handsome straight lines of these cars have aged well. They capture the 60s almost perfectly, but with angular lines and wonderful detailing they wear it proudly. Aside from the top, which still wears its original white vinyl covering, by the way, the most dramatic feature must be those quarter panels which seem to be pointing forward into the future. The one part of the 60s were glad it didnt bring with it was the original light green paint, which would be as stylish as an avocado-colored refrigerator today, and instead wears a medium blue thats a lot more attractive and probably wont go out of fashion anytime soon. The sheetmetal is straight and in good shape, with doors that fit well, and when it was repainted it was thoroughly disassembled because theres no sign of the original green paint. Much of the trim remains original, including the electric shaver grille, and the bumpers were freshened more recently, perhaps when it was painted. Overall, it has a nice, all-of-a-piece look thats pretty compelling. The original AM radio remains in the dash, and even though there arent a lot of options, theres a certain appeal to the no-nonsense Coronets dedication to performance. The back seat is original and looks quite good for being nearly 50 years old and the massive trunk is fitted with a correct plaid mat and an original jack strapped to the inner quarter panel. Despite the cars size, its a relative lightweight piece, so the 383 cubic inch V8 under the hood delivers stirring performance. Its a vintage 1964 block rebuilt to stock specs, so its smooth and torquey at any speed. Theres an Edelbrock 4-barrel up top, along with a chrome air cleaner, but otherwise its quite stock. Weve seen restored cars that didnt look as good as this one does underneath! Awesome Magnum 500-style wheels are the right look on any performance car of this vintage and they carry 205/75/14 blackwall radials that enhance the cars serious performance demeanor. For the Chrysler fan who likes to go a little bit outside the lines, this Coronet delivers plenty of performance with a more grown-up look. Call today! Matching-numbers big block, 4-speed manual transmission, Track Pack, an awesome color combination, and a restoration that's so fresh you can still smell the paint.
