Up for your consideration is a nice solid example of a 1984 Z/28 Camaro with the L69 High Output engine option. This has been my dads' cruising car on days where it's nice enough to take the T tops off. We are losing our storage space and we had a tough choice to make. We ended up deciding that it's better to let the car go to someone that has a place to store it because leaving it out in the weather just isn't right. Clean and clear KS title in hand. The Z car has been a car that was taken care of, but didn't go without being driven somewhat regularly. It is a very original example of a 1984 Camaro Z/28. From the double snorkel air intake to the High Output 5.0 badging this car is an 80's icon through and through and still has the styling to keep up with modern sports car looks. All of the option features work as they should except for the cruise control,windshield washer sprayer,and the passenger safety belt won't reel back in. It has some rust on the rear quarters and it does have exhaust smoke. The floor pans are original and solid, no leaks out of the T tops. It starts easy and goes up the highway nice and smooth. I have to say that it's a great feeling having the tops off and cruising up the highway, it's where the car is happy at. The tires are new within the last year and it stops with a nice firm brake pedal. Power hatch option works as it should and the hatch struts pick up the hatch with no problem. The hood struts are also fully functional and work as they should. A/C blows cold air , but in all honesty I would recommend having it serviced to get the maximum cooling capability. The gauge cluster was upgraded to a Dakota Digital unit at 94,000 miles. I still have the original dash cluster that will go with the car at time of ownership transfer. I could go on and bore you with all of the option codes this car has, but I know that stuff is fun for a new owner to look up. One of the cool things I have learned is that this car was crowned "The Best Handling American Car" by Car and Driver magazine in 1984. It is one of the more loaded up models and is only short a couple of options from being a full order sheet car. Some of the options include all of the windows being factory tinted, 4 wheel disc brakes, tilt wheel, dual power mirrors, power locks, and power windows. All in all this 84 Z/28 H.O. is a very solid example of one of the last factory muscle cars with a carburetor . If the new owner is needing delivery I am available to do that. When these valves open, a portion of the exhaust gases is routed through a second set of tail pipes pointed at the ground. This design offers numerous advantages. It allows the engine to be calibrated to produce higher torque. Secondly, it provides a free-flowing exhaust system, while still providing the capability for passing mandated pass-by noise regulations in the U.S., Canada, and U.K. Thirdly, it makes for some lovely exhaust sounds at wide-open throttle. The exhaust side of the engine also features a full 2.5 inch stainless steel exhaust system, running from the exhaust manifold outlet to the tip of the exhaust pipes. Suspension & HandlingSaleen developed special springs, shocks, and anti-roll bars to control body roll and to provide crisp cornering. Bushings made from high durometer rubber are used to achieve the direct steering response for which Saleen sports cars are noted. Because of its all-aluminum design, the new engine weighs 75 pounds less than last year's V8, which, along with the increased wheelbase, reduces weight on the nose. This reduction helps balance the car, giving it a 53/47 percent ratio across the front to rear wheels. Wheels & TiresSaleen-designed 20-inch alloy wheels are standard on all three S281 models. Up front, the wheels are 9 inches wide, and the rears are 9 inches as well. All S281's are equipped with high-performance radials. Sizes are 275/35ZR20 all around. Optional are ultra-high performance Pirelli P-Zero Rossos, 275/35ZR20s up front with 275/40ZR20s fitted to the 10-inch wide rear wheels.Exterior DesignModified from front to rear, the S281's styling cues capture attention. A long hood and short rear deck emphasize the Saleen muscle under the bonnet and its traditional rear-wheel drive setup. New alloy wheels are big, wide, and clothed in equally aggressive rubber that fills the wheel wells.The viewer should also notice a family resemblance with the Saleen S7 supercar. Features such as the lower front grille opening, the hood vents, the rocker panel side skirting, the rear spoiler and the rear diffuser are motivated by beautful form and functional areodynamics. Featuring unique Saleen-designed headlamp assemblies incorporating the industry's first bi-functional Xenon/HID lamp, these lights use moveable light shield technology to achieve both high and low beam functions in a single reflector with only one HID light source. They provide 40 percent more light in both low and high beam functions than conventional lamps. 'At Saleen we have our own design language,' explained Steve Saleen. Vapor is a very nice metallic silver, and the paint is in superb condition with a nice deep shine. Zero scratches, dents, damage, or paintwork. Almost zero rock chips. Wheels are excellent with no curb rash. Essentially ready for a car show, it’s that nice. Interior: Everything down to the smell will make you think this is a brand new car. Plastics, carpets, leather, all essentially flawless. Every feature works correctly including the power seat, power mirrors, power windows, audio system, cold A/C and hot heat. Exceptional condition. Mechanical: Again in excellent condition. Needless to say, the engine in this car is simply incredible. Stock levels of Mustang GT power at low throttle, but a totally different animal when the supercharger starts producing boost. Simply incredible levels of power and response, with the usual awesome Roush exhaust sound as well as a nice supercharger whine. The engine runs great without any caution lights or mechanical issues, and a recent oil change. Suspension is nice and tight without being harsh, it makes the Mustang feel surprisingly nimble. No suspension pulling, clunks, or other signs of damage or wear. Brakes are strong without any vibration or pulling. The transmission shifts smoothly without any grinding or popping out of gears, the short shifter makes for very nice tight gates, and the clutch is strong without any sign of slipping. Tires are in excellent condition with nearly new tread. Overall it is an exactly as nice as you would expect a car with just over 3,000 miles to be, essentially like new and a LOT of fun. Flaws: Overall this is a superb car, ready to make other Mustang enthusiasts jealous at your local car show. All flaws are exceptionally minor as this car is very nearly perfect. Exterior: very few rock chips, front bumper is drilled for a front plate, small section (~3 in) of scuffing on the underside of the front spoiler. Interior: single scratch on the steering wheel leather from 6:00 to 9:00, probably from a ring, not visible from the driver’s seat.
