Moving and need to sell my well cared for 450SL. A little history. The new vehicle was originally purchased from Boulevard Motors in St. Louis, Missouri - I have the original window sticker! According to the son of the original owner, who I bought the car from, it was garaged in St. Louis then again when his parents shipped it to California where they retired. When the owners were no longer able to drive safely their son took it over, driving it to his east coast home where it was garaged and driven, only in good weather, for a few years. I purchased the car from the son in '08. Since I have owned the 450 it has been stored with my other old vehicles in a environmentally controlled building. When I got the car I checked the compression (very good with all cylinders within 5 psi), changed the transmission fluid, had the injectors professionally cleaned, replaced all engine rubber vacuum lines and seals, and generally ensured it would be a reliable driver. The interior is overall in good condition and is original. It appears to have been repainted and that repaint is showing its age with a little pen holing on the right front fender and a some rear quarter panel fading. The exterior paint is a 15' quality job. The vehicle shows as a daily driver and is priced accordingly in line with the Hagerty collector car price guidelines. I have enjoyed driving it and it has been reliable for me running on 87 octane, no ethanol when I can find it. The soft top is in good condition with a clear rear window. The hard top is in good condition never having been on the vehicle after its delivery to me. There is a roll around cart for the hard top that goes with the vehicle if picked up with the vehicle. Tires show no issues with plenty of remaining tread. The spare, original jack and tool sets are in good condition going with the car. Also a couple of maintenance manuals and most all repair receipts go with it. The original owners son installed a Kenwood radio, amp, and rear deck mounted 6"x9" speakers supplementing the dash factory speakers - makes for an enjoyable sound system when the top is down. Lastly, I believe everything works but ask if you want something specifically checked. I enjoy owning and fixing up old vehicles and have tried to present the vehicle honestly. I am an amateur collector, not a professional, but with a 100% eBay rating. Please ask any question you may have and it will be promptly answered. I will hold the vehicle at no cost for up to 30 days while you arrange for vehicle pick up at my location. Transportation costs, and any international fees and arrangement, if any, are your responsibility. A well maintained 450 SL, ready to drive and enjoy. These vehicles were designed and built for many, many miles of use and are solid. I purchased this car from the son of the original buyers (I have the original window sticker) who took it over after his parents could no longer drive. The parents were in California at the time, so he drove it from California to New Jersey where he lived, driving it there only in good weather. He enjoyed it for a few years and now I have enjoyed it for over 6 years and am ready for the next classic (my hobby), so time to sell. All of the known performance nuisances and issues have been fixed or updated. I have the repair and parts receipts back to day one, complete since I have owned it. The transmission shifts smoothly without slipping, the engine does not use oil and has been reliable. It runs well on 87 octane gas; I try to use non-ethanol fuel when available. I do not know of anything not working - if you want something specific checked email me and I will test it. The car is a driver quality with what I would call a 15 foot paint job. The interior is original, seats and carpet good and not torn. The rear deck carpet is sun faded - I can provide a economical replacement source for this flat piece of carpet. The son installed a CD player, rear deck speakers and trunk mounted amp making music with the top down lively when desired. The hardtop roll around stand, pictured holding the hardtop, goes with the car if picked up with the vehicle. I have several maintenance books and a CD that will go with it. Also the fog lights, the appearance I did not care for, will be included. I set the 'buy it now' price below Hagerty's price for the condition I conservatively believe the vehicle to be in so I would expect someone to recognize a value when they see it. Now the legal stuff. A $500 PayPal down payment is due within 48 hours of buying the vehicle. The balance is due within 7 business days of the purchase in the form of cashiers check or cash if individually picked up. The vehicle will not be released to you or a carrier for 4 business days after receipt of a cashiers check for the balance due. You are responsible for securing a carrier if needed. I will hold the vehicle for up to 45 days after payment while you arrange for a carrier and get them to pick up the car. I will not be liable for the vehicle during this period of time but will continue to store it in a security monitored building with my other classic vehicles. Anything I have not covered feel free to ask as I want you to be pleased with your purchase. I have tried to describe the 450SL as best I can, but I am not a professional - just a car enthusiastic.
