I purchased this pickup ten years ago when it was nothing more than a neglected and unused vehicle. It was a time in my life when being single with children grown to adulthood, and being a master mechanic of 42 years afforded me the time and dedication to bring this pickup back to life. I began by a complete teardown and proceeded to restore and/or replace components as needed. The truck is all steel with absolutely no rust. The bed was replaced with a custom bed and tubed to allow for tire clearance. I chose Poplar wood for the bed as it complimented the color scheme and added new polished stainless steel strips. The fuel tank was removed from behind the seat allowing for more interior room and a custom (20 gal) tank was installed behind the 9" Ford rearend with a filler on the right side (no draping the the fuel pump hose over the bed to fill a cell!) The 9" Ford is set up with 4.11 gears and along with a 700R4 transmission makes this truck quick and responsive yet cruises comfortably on the freeway in overdrive. The triangulated link and coilover suspension from "Air Ride Tech" provides for a smooth ride. For the front suspension a crossmember from "Fatman Fabrication" was added. (no butchered clip job!) Power rack and pinion steering and coil springs gives this ride a nice stance. With four wheel disc brakes and power steering this truck is fun and comfortable to drive and tracks straight as an arrow. The rear tires are Mickey Thompson 31x16.5 on Convo Pro 15x14 wheels. The fronts are Mickey Thompson P225/50 on Convo Pro 15x8.5 wheels. For the engine I chose a 383c.i. (long rod) stroker. It's fitted with a steel crank, KB 10.5 to 1 pistons, Edelbrock performer rpm cam and Aluminum heads, Crane roller rockers and 750 cfm carb tops off the Performer rpm manifold. MSD ignition and billet distributor provides the spark. Exhaust flows through "Street & Performance" stainless steel headers, flowmasters and "Megs" tips. Cooling is provided by a large "Modine" 4 row radiator, "Flowcooler" water pump and coupled with an electric fan. Truck runs at a constant 185 and never overheats even in heavy traffic. Polished alternator, a/c compressor, pulleys and brackets complete the package. The interior was fitted with a split bench seat from "Glide Engineering" as it was made specifically for this vehicle allowing for more interior room instead of an oversized sofa from pick-n-pull. I'm 6'4" and need the space! It was covered in a medium grey velour. Door panels are covered in two tone grey. Carpet and mats are also a matching grey. The headliner is emblazened with the chevy emblem. The former fuel tank area is also paneled and upholstered to give the interior a clean look. For comfort "Vintage Air" was added as well as a "Digital" dash, billet tilt column and wheel, power windows and "Lokar" shifter. All wiring was replaced with a new fuse block/harness from "Painless" The all steel body was massaged to a "babby's butt" smoothness and painted with PPG "Lemon Ice". Pearl blue flames and striping was performed by "Real Ralph" himself! All glass was replaced with slightly shaded safety glass and new weatherstriping. This truck is a blast to drive and a head- turner where-ever I go. While I have very much enjoyed this project, it's time for another challenge. I hope you all enjoy the photos and I will gladly answer all questions about this truck from serious inquiries. Thank You
