I picked up this 1985 monte carlo ss from an estate sale. I dealt with the nephew of the original owner. His aunt bought it new in union grove wi from Benicek/Huck chevrolet. She owned it up until a few years ago and sold it to her brother. He had recently passed on and the car was for public sale and that is how I got it. The car has only 23,000 original miles on it. It wasn't driven in winters. It is still original paint and the only things I can see that were replaced was a battery, tires in 2011, converter back dual exhaust from napa (remnants of decals on pipes)and the a/c compressor. The paind has been buffed out as the laquer was starting to haze a bit. There are some dings and dents along with some scratches here and there. The pictures show many of them. It has a nice shine and there are some traces here and there of some crazing and factory assembly line sand marks. There are a few ripples on the roof and a 1 foot area that lookes like it was spot touched. I have had many of these body style buicks, chevy's and oldsmobiles to know that the paint and body work on them were not that stellar. I know of many cars that were touched up or repainted entirely at the dealers as people would refuse them. I would not rate this car as museum piece but one that was driven and is ready to be driven again and far nicer than 80% of the ones out there for sale. The interior is mint and was never smoked in. There is a slight hint of moth ball scent as the only issue with the interior. There are no more in the car at this time. Pictures show no wear on the seats or carpet. I do not have the original floor mats and the ones currently in the car are to save the carpet. Not a tear split or crack anywhere. Headliner is tight front to back. Car was rust proofed when new and there is no rust bubbling anywhere on the car. Car is low optioned, has Ice cold air, tilt, cruise and am/fm stereo. The car also has positration rear too with 3:73's I believe in 1985 due to being the first year for overdrive. Car runs great and is peppy. It has 0 wind noise going down the road at 65, handles tight without a sqeak and is a blast to drive.It will squak the tires in second gear under minimal acceleration. Motor is quiet, no noises at all and does not smoke going down the road. Car is real straight forward and easy to drive. It runs, drives and handles like a low mileage car should. It doesn't need anything to make it a daily fair weather cruiser. I do have a driver side door lock coming from the chevy dealer. Its missing the cap that held the little spring operated flap in the middle. I will have it keyed to match the car and include it with the car. New owner can decide to install or not. Inside the trunk it looks as if the spare was never used and i can't find the plastic hold down nut that keeps the tire tight. I have not checked with gm to see if it's available. I would encourage any or all questions to be directed to me. I am easy to get ahold of and would also encourage any inspections prior to buying.
