This nicely preserved 1972 Monte Carlo offers period-perfect good looks, a great-running big block, and an impressive documentation package that proves that its 20,883 miles are authentic. Nice, right? This very straight Monte Carlo looks downright perfect in Cream Yellow paint, which is both an ideal '70s color that fits the Monte's era, and a color that looks sporty today. From almost any angle, it sure looks like original paint, and while there are some touch-ups here and there, it would be a mistake to repaint it. Panel alignment also suggests that this has always been an extremely clean car that needed no major surgery. The first generation Monte Carlo was a huge hit, and the aggressive fender flares, tidy proportions, and what might be the longest hood ever put on a General Motors two-door still look fantastic today. The details like the raised fenders are still crisp, the chrome and trim is in excellent condition (the bumpers might be recent), and all the original badges and markings have been retained. A clean black padded vinyl roof gives it a formal look, with no signs of damage or rust underneath. Although GM called the Monte Carlo a "personal" luxury car, there's plenty of room inside. The front buckets appear to be original, and if that's the case, you have a good idea of how much someone cared for it. All the buttons on the tufted seats and door panels remain in place and the dash pad shows no cracking or UV damage. The gauge panel was similar to that found in a Chevelle (in fact, Monte Carlo dashes are often used to create fake SS Chevelles) and the gauges are in excellent condition with bright markings and needles. The burled walnut appliques are still bright and the horseshoe shifter is one of our favorites, of course. Other options include factory A/C, cruise control, power windows, and a tilt column, so the original buyer of this car was leaning heavily towards the luxury side of the personal luxury equation. There's also a nicely appointed trunk with its original mat and a full-sized spare that might just be original. Personal luxury also meant performance, with this Monte Carlo packing a 402 cubic inch V8 topped by a 4-barrel carb. Looking things over, it's not hard to believe this is a clean, low-mileage car and while there's some grime and signs of use, the Chevy Orange paint and original air cleaner give it a very correct look. Recent service work includes new belts and hoses and R134a refrigerant in the A/C system, so go out and have fun. It's a big block car, so the TH400 3-speed automatic was the automatic of choice, and it spins a 12-bolt rear full of easy-cruising gears that give the big coupe great highway manners. Underneath it's clean, with no frame damage and solid floors, as well as a dual exhaust system that sounds great without being intrusive. And there's simply no better rolling stock on one of these cars than a set of Torque Thrusts, with these wearing a newer set of fat Goodyear radials. Documented with the original Protect-O-Plate, owner's manual, title and ownership documents, maintenance records, and a reproduction window sticker, there's a lot of history behind this car. People keep expecting these to skyrocket in value, so perhaps this is the one that will be the smart investment for the future. Sporting a great-performance small block, this beautiful Cortez Silver coupe is a great show and go car that still looks awesome and delivers a serious punch under the hood. If a Chevelle is just a little too ordinary for you, perhaps this Monte Carlo is a better choice. As Chevy's big luxury cruiser, the Monte Carlo looks ideal in more subtle finishes like code 14 Cortez Silver, which is this car's original color. The bodywork and paint are quite possibly original and it still presents well with a great shine and only minor signs of age and use. If you really wanted to wake this one up, a professional cut and buff would probably pay big dividends, but overall the car has a very cohesive look that befits its stature at the top of the Chevrolet hierarchy. The chiseled Monte Carlo look was pretty sophisticated for 1970, with a notable lack of ornamentation and muscular-looking quarters that made this personal luxury coupe look anything but tame. Chrome is very good, the stainless has been well maintained, the bumpers are probably new, and the black vinyl top provides great contrast and a hint of formality to the big coupe. The black bucket seat interior is extremely clean, with a nice mixture of original and restored pieces. The seat covers and carpets are surely recent additions, and items like the door panels and headliner are in very good condition for their age. You'll also note that this car carries the optional factory A/C (ice cold!) and a center console, and all that burled walnut (who cares if it's fake?) gives the interior an upscale look. Modern additions include a set of gauges on the A-pillar and a tach strapped to the steering column, as well as an AM/FM/cassette stereo radio, making it a car that you can drive anywhere without a second thought. The horseshoe shifter is perhaps the coolest gear selector ever and the wrap-around dash makes this big car feel very sporty from behind the wheel. One of the virtues of a full-sized car is the giant trunk, which carries what appears to be its original mat and a full-sized spare with cover. The original small block is gone, replaced by a stout 350 cubic inch crate motor that's been heavily fortified for use in this big coupe. With a smooth idle and big torque, it moves the Monte Carlo effortlessly with a fantastic muscle car soundtrack from the long-tube headers and dual exhaust. The engine bay has been nicely detailed for show, with lots of chrome and polished aluminum, as well as a big Holley carb, a performance camshaft, and HEI ignition system. The a modern serpentine belt drive for the accessories makes for a very clean installation, the A/C has been set up for R134a refrigerant, and power steering and brakes are, of course, standard equipment. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission shifts like it should and feeds a sturdy 12-bolt rear end with highway-friendly gears inside. Proper Rally wheels wearing spinners and 245/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials complete the look that neatly blends performance and luxury in one package. The day of the Monte Carlo can't be far off because cars this cool can't stay this affordable forever. Take advantage of this opportunity before another one slips by. The 1975 Monte Carlo seen here was a sales juggernaut and in the years before SUVs and sport sedans dominated the market, cars like this were the vehicles of choice for people going places. Today they're interesting pieces of automotive archaeology and offer a fantastic view of the wild and often wacky 1970s. The 1975 Monte Carlo wasn't much changed from the 1974 model, but why mess with success? The swooping fender lines and forward-arching profile give it a classic look that works with the long hood/short deck styling that suggests luxury and power. The light blue paint is recent and replicates the original Medium Blue color, and I'm quite certain it looked right at home on the streets of 1975 where pastels and big collars ruled the day. It has also lived someplace dry, because the sheetmetal remains in excellent condition with no signs of rust or rot, something for which these cars were notorious, and which helps explain their relative rarity today despite record-breaking sales figures. This one came without a vinyl top, identifying it as a base model, but today it looks sleek and clean and I'm guessing most of you prefer it that way. There's also a ton of chrome that's still in decent shape, including the bumpers, grille, lower rocker cladding, and the unique taillights that would become a Monte Carlo trademark for years to come. It turns out that Chevy's personal luxury coupe was pretty darned nice inside. The blue vinyl buckets are in great shape with few signs of age, and they're very cool swivel buckets that are perhaps a feature that deserves to make a comeback. Of course, it helps that the materials the factory used was as durable as a granite countertop, but you don't keep a car looking this nice by accident. Even the door panels are clean and smooth, without so much as a depression where the driver's elbow used to rest, and the speakers are neatly installed to help them blend in. The dash offers a sporty look with lots of round pods for gauges and vents, and factory A/C, power windows, and a tilt wheel are all desirable options. With a faux burled walnut fascia, it has an upscale look and the newer AM/FM/CD stereo head unit provides a welcome dose of 21st century entertainment. The trunk is sizable neatly upholstered with black carpet and still has plenty of room even with a big custom subwoofer. Nice, right? The 350 cubic inch small block V8 was still the powerplant of choice for a majority of Monte Carlo buyers, and its smooth, torquey performance is ideal in the personal luxury coupe. It's a small block Chevy, so upgrades like an Edelbrock intake manifold and 4-barrel carburetor are certainly welcome and it runs superbly. The balance is pretty stock with a few dress-up pieces and while it's not detailed for show, it runs great. There's also a true dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers, so it sounds a bit racier than when it was originally built, but with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear with 2.73 gears inside it's an easy cruiser. Classic Keystone wheels are fitted, which give the conservative Monte Carlo a sporty look, and they wear earing 235/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. Always popular, these vintage Monte Carlos remain desirable machines today. Very affordable, this one has a lot to offer. With just 72,602 original miles, this nicely preserved personal luxury coupe is an outstanding specimen of a car that will always have a loyal following. And with V8 power, it's also a lot of fun to drive. We all know that factory paint from this era almost never lasted north of 10 years, so the owners of this beauty gave her a factory-correct re-spray. Sure, there are some signs of use, but there weren't many cars built in the '80s that still look this good today. The Monte Carlo's chiseled good looks are especially handsome in black, which highlights the curving front fenders and formal roofline. It also highlights irregularities, so it's a good thing that this car is so straight, so even those massive doors open and close easily with excellent gaps all around. Chrome was going out of style when this car was built, so it's restrained in its use of the shiny stuff, showing an excellent original grille, bright stainless rocker moldings, and just a sliver of brightwork on the bumpers. And how about that? A Monte Carlo without a padded roof! This one just keeps getting cooler. The interior is the burgundy vinyl that was so popular in these cars, and with so few miles, it's no surprise that it's still in excellent condition. The seats remain firm and supportive, the upholstery shows only minor wear, and it looks like there have been floor mats on the carpets since Day One. This particular Monte Carlo was definitely aimed at the luxury car buyer, with loads of power accessories like A/C, a tilt wheel, and cruise control, all of which are fully functional. This particular 2-owner car has lived in Georgia all its life, and the hot sun can be rough on soft interior parts, but this one has effectively hidden from the sun, and as a result the dash pad is excellent and the upholstery shows zero UV damage. The gauges are minimalist, showing only speed and fuel level, but the dash is attractive and you can see shadows of the high-performance SS model in it. There's the original AM/FM/cassette stereo that still sounds decent and even the trunk looks unused, and still carries the original spare and jack assembly. Fortunately, in 1986 the Monte Carlo was still packing a smooth-running 305 cubic inch V8. It wasn't built for pure horsepower, but it cranks out respectable numbers and enough torque to make driving entertaining. Showing a great deal of originality, it's clear that this car has always been properly maintained, with everything as the factory intended. As a small-block Chevy, it is insanely easy to modify these engines for more power, but somehow the two previous owners have resisted the siren call of horsepower and left it stock for future generations to appreciate. A 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission linked to a 10-bolt rear makes for a bulletproof driveline, and it makes for a superb highway cruiser with an incomparable ride. The only real modification is the great-looking Rally wheels, which wear slightly oversized 255/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A white-letter radials. If you have been looking for a clean Monte Carlo, look no further. This is a gorgeous survivor or perhaps the foundation of something truly spectacular. The most sporting version of an all-time favorite, it has a classic performance look and style that remains quite appealing, even today. White might be the best of the SS colors, giving the big coupe a lot of presence and remaining timeless rather than dated like teal or burgundy. With just one comprehensive repaint, this vehicle maintains the stock look these Monte's are best suited in. There are a few scratches and swirls here and there, but overall it's quite impressive for a car fast approaching its 30th birthday. The sporty urethane chin spoiler and unique nose give the SS its NASCAR-inspired attitude and a subtle deck lid spoiler reinforces that this was a grown-up hot rod, not a boy racer. There's no chrome left on the SS, with its body-colored bumpers and blacked-out trim, all of which remains in good condition overall. The special SS decals are particularly nice on this car, showing no fading or peeling, indicative of careful preservation over the past few decades. You could have any interior you wanted in your Monte Carlos SS as long as it was burgundy cloth buckets. There's minimal wear, even in the high-traffic areas like the driver's out seat bolster and the carpets are protected by a set of matching floor mats. A center console and 2-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel help with the sporty feel and the round gauges in a wrap-around panel are a nice touch. Options include factory A/C, power windows, cruise control, and a tilt steering column, so this is a lot more car for your money than a garden-variety Camaro and there's room for five adults inside, which is always nice. The factory Delco stereo is gone, replaced by a newer AM/FM/CD stereo head unit that sounds great and was professionally fitted to the dash so it looks clean and tidy. And as a full-sized car, there's a rather large trunk out back that is in good condition and obviously has nothing to hide. Chevrolet's small block V8, displacing 305 cubic inches in the SS, was the lone powerplant. Topped by a 4-barrel carburetor, it's a strong runner with plenty of old-school muscle car torque and despite being the most modified engine in history, this one remains bone stock right down to the factory air cleaner. The engine bay is well-maintained but not detailed, but that would be easy to remedy with a Saturday afternoon's worth of work and you can't argue with the way this SS goes about its business. Linked to a 200-4R 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, it's a fantastic highway cruiser and pulls down acceptable fuel economy, at least for a big V8. The suspension is tuned to be entertaining but you can still feel this car's luxury coupe origins underneath, so it's great for road trips and the custom dual exhaust system has a pleasant sound that's never annoying. Factory SS wheels look reminiscent of the IROC-Z alloys and carry 215/65/15 white letter radials. Very affordable and very fun, this is one of those cars that will always be worth about what you've got in it, making it easy to enjoy a cool piece of '80s muscle without breaking the bank. Vehicle Information VIN: 1H57U7D470555 Stock: 1863-ATL Mileage: 58,905 Color: Blue Trans: Automatic Engine: MPG: Drivetrain: Description The early Chevrolet Monte Carlos are already on a lot of collectors wish lists, and models like this 1977 example arent far behind. Big coupes were big money in the 1970s, and few could compete with the Monte Carlos combination of style and luxury. Nicely preserved with a few modest upgrades, this is a high-visibility 70s cruiser with a ton of charisma. OK, first things first: the giant wheels didnt require any modifications to fit, so if theyre not your cup of tea theyre easy to replace. But take a few moments to look at this Monte Carlo a little more closely and youll probably find that they work rather well, adding some flash to an otherwise subtle package. The misty silver-blue paint was sprayed not too long ago and looks appropriate on the car and might be close to the original light blue found on the 1977 Chevrolet color chart. The modern urethane has a great shine and they didnt feel the need to add pinstripes or other add-on dcor to make a point, instead letting the sweeping fenders and sleek roofline speak for themselves. And speaking of the roof, the vinyl landau roof is in very good condition and may very well be original to the car. Heavy chrome bumpers are also original and indicative of a car thats lived someplace warm. Its not perfect, but its pretty darned cool. Cloth upholstery was an optional upgrade in 1977, and the two wide bench seats make this a legitimate 6-passenger car. It may seem anachronistic to us today, but back in the 70s, this was a personal-sized car. But all that space feels downright luxurious today with plenty of stretch-out room front and rear and combined with the plush ride and significant amounts of sound-deadening materials, it has that incomparable 1970s luxury car feel behind the wheel. The upholstery and door panels are in excellent condition and are almost certainly original, with what appear to be replacement carpets underfoot. The sporty-looking instrument panel has a woodgrained fascia that warms things up a bit and the car is optioned up with factory A/C, a tilt wheel, and an AM/FM stereo radio. The trunk needs a new mat to be fully complete, but the spare tire might very well be original and there is a complete jack assembly. A 305 cubic inch Chevy small block V8 means that this Monte Carlo is an effortless cruiser with loads of potential. Its quite stock under the hood, right down to the factory air cleaner, again indicative of a car that has been well-maintained all its life. It starts easily and settles into an almost imperceptible idle, and with an original-style single exhaust system, its hushed on the highway. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission spins a 10-bolt rear with towering gears, which combine with the tall tires to make this a superlative road trip car. Those wheels are 20-inch Pinnacle alloys that fit right and tuck under the fenders without rubbing and carry low-profile 245/40/20 radials all around. A nice car thats quite well preserved and not nearly as radical as it appears at first glance. If you like the second-generation Monte Carlo, you wont find many this well preserved. Call today! And while you've seen trick Monte Carlos before, this vivid orange 1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS stands alone as an awesome example of blending OEM parts to get a new result. Who would have known that the chiseled, formal Monte Carlo would look so good in high-visibility paint? That's PPG Mars Red, surely a relative of Hugger Orange, and it gives the squared-off lines of the Monte Carlo a very sporting look. It also seems to accentuate some of the details you miss when these cars are plain old black or white, namely the gentle sweep of the fenders with a secondary crease running just below the ridge, the smooth integration of the aero nose, and the smooth slope of the rear deck. The SS wore its own aggressive body kit, but this one takes up a notch by dipping into the GM parts bin and pulling out a set of Camaro Z/28 ground effects to visually lower the car. They tie in neatly with the original chin spoiler and the aftermarket skirts behind the wheels, then topped it with a Goodmark cowl induction hood. The paint is extremely well done, showing complete coverage and a brilliant shine with only a few small nicks on the nose to indicate it's ever been used at all. Most of the SS's blacked-out trim remains black for a nice contrast, extra effort that pays off in a big way. The interior remains pretty much stock Monte Carlo SS, which offers buckets, a console, and plenty of luxury features to go with the sporty look. Light gray accents on the doors, center console, rear seat, and even the floor mats differentiate it from all the other garden-variety Monte Carlos out there. The burgundy velour is in excellent condition and the seats are just the right combination of comfortable and supportive. The gauges are fairly comprehensive given the SS's mission and luxury options include cold A/C with R134a refrigerant, power windows and locks, a tilt steering column, cruise control, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo that still sounds decent. The leather-wrapped wheel helps with the sporty demeanor but if you want to take four people across the country in comfort, few cars will do it better than a Monte Carlo, especially with that giant trunk, which also features matching orange trim. The stock 305 cubic inch V8 also got a makeover thanks to GM's vast parts interchangeability. Up top there's a Tuned Port Injection setup from a Trans Am and a computer from a Corvette, all dressed for show with a painted plenum and chrome intake runners. It gives the small block a shot of low-end torque that makes it fun to drive around town yet thanks to the 2004R 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, it still pulls down decent fuel economy. The underside is largely original and in remarkably good condition, indicative of a car that's been in a warm climate all its life, and thanks to a 2-inch lowering all around, it's got an awesome stance. A recent exhaust system sounds great and flashy Cragar wheels with staggered BFG radials give it just the right shot of yesterday and today. You won't be looking for attention in this car, it'll find you. Fortunately, when it does, it'll also find a very well-built and nicely finished car that runs and drives extremely well.
