The car is mechanically sound , you can drive it across country if you needed to. It has the original 305, starts right up, no ticking, no leaking, no excessive smoke. The air condition recently developed a problem, the compressor started making a rattling noise, it holds a charge, so I'm thinking that's all it needs. The car drives extremely well, it has new front brakes, new ball joints, newer shocks up front, the rear shocks are air leveling shocks. The tires were just put on the car a few hundred miles ago, it has 16x8 GTA aluminum mesh wheels. The exhaust is an aluminized coated 2.5 dual exhaust, its also brand new, the car has a deeper sound than factory, but isn't loud. The interior is in really nice shape, the door panels are not warped, the plastic lower portion still looks great, the carpet has been replaced last year, as well as the headliner, the dash is also really nice, its not all cracked up, the bench seat is original, although it looks nice for its age, I would say it shows some wear. The exterior had its original paint until last year when the car was repainted, it was done professionally and it shows, its refinished in its original color, except they added dark blue to the bottom. The car had absolutely no rust repairs done, the original paint was worn through in a few places and had some scratches and small dings through out, the bed is in excellent condition, and was refinished with a light texture on the floor. in short the car is ready to be driven and enjoyed, the previous owner spent thousands upon thousands getting the car to look the way it does, it was his grand fathers, he bought it new and left it to him. I got the car from the original owner's grandson. He was left the car after the gentleman had passed away. He sold the car because he really needed a full size truck and did not want to run the car into the ground. His grand father loved his El Camino, it shows by the condition of this car. It was professionally painted in the last year or so, the car looks fantastic, it had the original paint until then, they didn't paint the door jambs, so you can clearly tell there is no rust in the doors, I had it on a lift, the exhaust is brand new, duals, 2.5 inch, front to back, while on the lift I looked at the floors, they are in amazing shape , absolutely rock solid, The front suspension is new, upper and lower ball joints, have been replaced. The car drives incredibly smooth. The carpet looks to be new also, the seat is original and shows signs of wear on the drivers side, if you had it recovered the interior would look like new, the door panels are in excellent condition, they are original, but they are nice , straight, and have little wear on them. The headliner looks perfect, the dash is also in very good condition. The car has a throaty sound to it, starts right up, no noises, shifts as it should, the brakes feel great, the car drives straight, all four tires are new, it has GTA Trans Am wheels on it, which fit the cars time period. The car is 29 years old, so it has a few items that are not perfect, the windows work, but they are slow, pwr door locks work, they are also slow, the horn and the turn signals are not working right now, but I am looking into it, I will try to get them working, but be prepared if I don't get to it, Im sure its nothing major. The ac works, heat works, all the gauges work, interior lights too. This car is in great shape for its age, think about what most 10 year old cars look like usually, but as I mentioned, the previous owner bought the car new, and put a lot of time into preserving the condition of the car.
