But the rumble from the V8 and the slick performance sends some very different and modern signals. That's exactly what this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette feels like going down the road, and that's exactly what you want out of a high-quality restomod. This Sting Ray gives very few hints at the modern car that lies beneath the surface. Instead it just looks like nicely restored 'Vette. This satisfying appearance starts with a professional respray of the factory Ermine White. It looks bright and deep like a modern clearcoat paint should. The trim is complete, which is something you love to see because these early C2s had some intricate details everything from the thin stylized bumpers, to the Corvette name in cursive on the rear. It has the stinger hood with black accents, and since this wasn't a '64 option, it's one of your few cues that there has been some heavy investment in tearing up the streets. The other exterior custom touch is the set of ARE torque thrust wheels. These are a timelessly tasteful add-on, and few people realize it helps house the larger 17-inch tires. None of this gets in the way of the core feeling that the Sting Ray was one of the most influential designs of the decade, and even over fifty years later, it remains instantly recognizable and still resonates with enthusiasts. The interior is also about appearing original with subtle upgrades. It starts with black vinyl bucket seats that looks so new they should be wrapped in plastic. Beyond the three-spoke word-rimed steering wheel, you'll see that all the correct instruments are in place. Not only do they look good with the shiny bezels, but more importantly, everything works even the clock! If these bright elements have your eye, then you might start to spot a few of the new pieces. The radio is now a JVC AM/FM/cassette player that's adaptable for more modern tunes. Plus, there are those bright vents under the dash that pump out the ice-cold air conditioning running modern R-134a. But any thoughts that this Corvette is running anything close to stock is completely blown away the moment you pop the hood. That's a Corvette motor, but it's an LT4 variety that would have come in the 1996 Grand Sport. So the fuel-injected callouts on the fenders of this coupe aren't liars, they are just correct in a very unique way. As much as you know this is a more modern V8, it still looks at home in the engine bay - especially with the classic '60s-style shine on the valve covers and Hooker performance headers. But beyond just looking great, it has the reliability of a more modern motor backed up by an electric fan, new wires, new belts, and steel braided hoses. It makes for a performance package that growls like a good Corvette should, but it has a distinctly more mature and even tone that tells you this one is powered by something special. For true restomod status you need more than just an updated engine. The fully independent suspension has been updated with more modern performance components, including an SSBC Force 10 four-wheel disc brake package. To make sure this can be enjoyed to the fullest on the backroads, you have complete control with a four-speed manual transmission, and a versatile 3.70 rear end with Positraction. Capping it all off are a set of grippy BE Goodrich gForce tires. The well-done Corvette restomods are a fun topic at the car show, and this one will put you in the center of all the action. Of course, you have to stop enjoying Sunday drives in this upgraded 'Vette long enough to stop at the show first. You know this is a tempting and unique C2, and you're not the only one who thinks that way. Best of all, this 405 hp rare black beauty can be yours for the shockingly low price of under $20K. This is a very clean 2-owner vehicle with a clear Autocheck (no accidents) and only 81K original miles. The C4 ZR-1 changed the Corvette landscape in a big way. It proved that there was a market for a take-no-prisoners Corvette, even at nearly double the price for a base coupe. With performance that was truly world class, the sophisticated yet bulletproof ZR-1 became an instant icon, and the rare final 1995 model year examples like this one are true cherished machines. The black paint still shines like a midnight mirror thanks to the exceptional condition of the fiberglass and careful ownership. You can see more evidence of its treasured life in the well-maintained chin spoiler, convex rear bumper, and the clean five-spoke factory wheels. The black leather interior features everything Chevy could build into a car, and given its price tag, just about everything was standard. The deeply sculpted leather seats are in excellent condition, and show very little driver wear. The instruments are a useful combination of digital and analog and they're still bright and crisp. While you are most interested in the leather-wrapped steering wheel and the six-speed gearshift that perfectly falls to your right hand, there are plenty more features in this ZR-1. This includes power windows, power locks, keyless entry, cruise control, power seats, and an AM/FM/CD/cassette Bose stereo. There's a great glass targa top to let you decide when you want the elements to blow through the cabin, and the automatic climate control means you can do this any time of the year. Because this is a modern classic that's barely two decades old, there are also great modern safety features like the dual airbags and anti-lock brakes. That wondrous LT5 engine is still as amazing today as it was when it debuted. After all, who doesn't love a 5.7-liter 32-valve V8 rated at 405 hp. It's intimidating with those long intake runners up top and the cam covers on each side, but the good news is that they're virtually indestructible and run for hundreds of thousands of miles without complaint. So this one feels barely broken in averaging less than 4,000 miles annually so far. The adjustable suspension rides well enough to make this a fantastic grand tourer on the days when you don't want it to handle like a racetrack king. Plus, the powerful four-wheel disc brakes don't seem to mind the car's 180 MPH capabilities. And the wide Nitto Extreme ZR tires are a great investment in properly capping off this handling package. They only made 448 Corvette ZR-1s in 1995 (only 6939 C4 ZR-1s in total), and so you know this is a future collectable. It's amazing that you can pick this up for less than the price of a family sedan. Still, just because you'll cherish it just like the previous owners have doesn't mean we don't expect this to be your weekend getaway machine. So you'll be happy to read that this 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray coupe that caught your eye with its beautiful paint is also a numbers-matching, four-speed car that keeps its factory specs inside and out. Milano Maroon is the perfect color for the right sort of vintage 'Vette buyer. It keeps the same attention grabbing attitude of the red cars that the Corvette community loves, but the darker finish gives it a level of sophistication that makes this Sting Ray easy to park next to European classics, too. Of course, both crowds will love that this is the factory-color presented on a stunningly pristine fiberglass body. 1965 was the first year of the completely smooth hood. It left the Corvette free from a lot of ornamentation, and the result is an elegantly restrained use of chrome for '60s standards. The sparing use of brightwork also means it's important that it looks especially nice in places like the two-piece font and rear bumpers. It's hard to attract more attention in the interior of a maroon car than with a maroon interior. This festival of red looks great thanks to the carpets, door panels, and dashboard all looking exceptionally clean. But as the driver, you'll really enjoy the well-maintained bucket seats. Your left hand grabs the three-spoke wood rim sports steering wheel, and beyond that is the full gauge set with large speedometer and very useful tachometer. But your right hand gets the real treat. The four-speed manual transmission was the correct choice for your Corvette if you love to drive. Plus, there's just something cool about grabbing the big chrome leaver housed in the original chrome console. Above that are the original heat/defrost controls and newer digital AM/FM tuner so you you'll have no trouble finding your favorite 60s music. Lift the hood, and you'll find a beautifully honest 327 cubic-inch V8. This is the numbers-matching unit of the Sting Ray's upgraded L75 motor with an advertised 300 hp rating. It looks just as fresh as the day it left the St. Louis factory 50 years ago with features like the correct Chevy orange on the block, callout stickers, and a pie dish air cleaner adding a touch of chrome. On the road this motor has the right amount of snarl through the dual exhaust pipes as you row through all four forward speeds. It's the kind of sound that's perfect for a little Saturday night intimidation, but it never gets old when spending all-day Sunday driving the backroads. This great driving attitude is backed up by the four-wheel disc brakes 1965 was the first year they were standard, and a big reason why these are the superior driving C2s. You're looking at a Corvette that's original in all the right places, has a great factory color combination, and averaged less than 1,700 miles a year during its lifetime. Yep, you heard that right: the 81,784 miles on this car are thought to be original but cannot be documented. It might be an investment-grade coupe, but we know you'll love driving it, too. 1965 Chevrolet Corvette for Sale 1965 Chevrolet Corvette for Sale Stock # 0024-TPA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] Tampa Showroom 4610 Pet Lane Lutz, FL 33559 Local/International: (813) 501-1630 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. This is when the V8 power and first generation styling really came together in one of the coolest packages around. And to top it off, we believe the engine to be original to this 'Vette! For a lot of guys, the 1959 Corvette is the one to own. Four headlights up front, and the curvaceous rear end that retains the tailfins of the original, but in a much sleeker and sportier fashion. It loses the awkward styling touches like the ribbed hood, and fussy chrome details of previous years, but it keeps desirable features like the full trunk. While a red Corvette is beautiful, we do see plenty of them. Instead, this one has been resprayed with a two-tone rare Tuxedo Black (and matching vinyl top), with Inca Silver inserts. It's a distinctive way to show off the uniform fit of the body without losing the period-correct feel. Of course the thing that you will really be attracted to is that all the hard to find brightwork is in place on this one, and it still sparkles with a fantastic shine. Fresh whitewall tires on full wheel covers are the perfect cap off to the period-correct feeling of this first generation 'Vette. If you thought the outside color was striking, just wait until you open the door. Red interiors always look amazing on black cars, and this one seems to pop even more, with the buckets being upgraded recently from vinyl to a cherry leather. The full gauges are in beautiful condition and are quite possibly original, which says a lot about this car's quality. While the big speedometer is always nice, we love seeing a functioning tachometer on a manual transmission car like this one. The steering wheel looks awesome in red as well, and its ridges have that great thin, grippy feel that only came on the right cars of this era. Because you'll want to be cruising with the top down for as long as possible, it's always nice to know the heater is in good working order so you can still enjoy this roadster on a crisp fall Sunday drive. The only engine available in 1959 was a 283 cubic-inch V8, and none of the various options were soft in the performance department. This one has the correct CQ-code block for a manual transmission car and comes with a single four-barrel carburetor that makes plenty of power to be entertaining without being stressful. Date codes show the engine and car were built within a few weeks of each other, and this car has the correct 3756519 engine casting number for 1959 as well. This is good proof that the March 17th build of the 283 makes it more than likely the original to the car! Dressed nicely to appear as it did from the factory, it includes the louvered chrome air cleaner, cast aluminum valve covers with 'Corvette' script, and ram's horn exhaust manifolds. The block stands out in its distinctive and iconic Chevy orange. This is the kind of appearance that doesn't require sunglasses when you pop the hood at car shows, but instead attracts plenty of attention for its originality. One of the best upgrades to get in '59 was the four-speed manual transmission, and this Corvette has it. Not only does that mean a much better shift ratio, but you've also got that extra gear for more comfortable road trips. The overall driving experience is an engine runs beautifully, gives a smart cackle from the twin tailpipes, and pulls through the gears like a freight train. This is the Corvette that's perfect for the car shows, but it also has all the right features that you'll probably skip a few events because you're having too much fun driving it.
