For sale in our Detroit showroom is a 1968 Chevrolet Corvette. For the new body style in 1968, the concealed headlights move into position via a vacuum operated system, rather than electrically as on the previous generation, and the new hide-away windshield wipers utilize a vacuum door. Also new for the 1968 model year was a battery relocated behind the seats, rather than the engine compartment, for better weight distribution. The most noticeable change are the flush-mounted door handles with a separate release button that was only features on 1968 Corvettes, making it especially rare and collectible. \"Sting Ray\" nameplates were absent on the new 1968 body, but Chevrolet still advertised the car as a Sting Ray. The car also features front fenders with functional engine cooling vents. In the cabin, a large round Speedometer and a matching tachometer are positioned in front of the driver. Auxiliary gauges are clustered above the forward end of the console and include Oil Pressure, Water Temperature, Ammeter, Fuel Gauge, and an Analog Clock. All cars ordered with an AM/FM Radio, like the C2 cars, continued to be fitted with chrome-plated ignition shielding covering the distributor to reduce interference. Under the hood of this Corvette is the powerful 427 cubic-inch V8, paired to a 4-speed, and the power meets the ground with 3.42 gears. One of the most noticeable aspects of this Vette is the bright International Blue exterior paint, with matching blue interior, which is complimented with a white convertible top. Options on the car include: AM/FM radio, manual convertible top, power brakes, power windows, vinyl interior, and radial, raised white-letter tires. If you%26acirc;??re looking for a powerful muscle car that you can be proud to take to shows, then this is the car for you! Located in our Detroit showroom, this %26acirc;??68 Vette can be viewed in greater detail, including HD photos and video, at www.GatewayClassicCars.com, or call (313)-982-3100 for more information.
