o start with, let me first say that I understand that there is a lot of information in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, I feel that there is never too much information. As to myself, I am not a dealer, just a (65) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I recently retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback which is 100% with (1,136) transactions. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS ARE WELCOME WITH A DOWN PAYMENT VIA PAYPAL AND THE BALANCE VIA WIRE TRANSFER ONLY. I ALSO HAVE INTERNATIONAL BUYER REFERENCES FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO CHECK. NICE MUSCLE CAR TRADES CONSIDERED. Hypothetical question: If you were to visit your local weekend car show, what’s the most common mid-size muscle car you would most likely see in attendance? The answer: Chevelle, and there’s a very good reason for that. The Chevelle was one of Chevrolet’s most popular models it has ever sold, it was one of the best selling cars of its era, and it remains to be a model that is coveted by hot rodders and collectors alike. Introduced on September 26, 1963 and built between model years 1964 and 1977, the Chevrolet Chevelle was available in a wide array of body styles; everything from a two-door sport coupe to a four-door estate wagon. Chevrolet, after realizing that their Impala model was seemingly growing by the foot, needed a mid-size model to fit in between it and the recently-released compact Nova/Chevy II. Chevrolet, wanting to get their point across that this was a driver’s car, and not a stripped-out racer, included every comfort and convenience Chevelle option available, including a tachometer, so the driver could keep a close eye on his revs that the L37 provided, a 160mph speedometer (presumably to help keep Johnny Law out of his or her rear view mirror), and deluxe front and rear seat belts to help keep occupants safe and in place, in the event that the vehicle’s owner ever decided to go crazy and engage in any extracurricular activities. An AM/FM radio, padded dash, and a remote driver’s side mirror came as standard equipment as well. 1968 delivered a whole new redesign for the Chevelle and its A-body cousins. Featuring a shorter wheelbase, the immensely popular long-hood, short-deck styling, along with a sculpted body and tapered front fenders, the new body style gave the Chevelle the muscular appearance that it rightfully deserved. What would become the final year for the Chevelle, 1977 added up to a miserable year. The sole “performance” option was a 170 horsepower, four-barrel 350, while a Chevelle SE (Special Edition) offered front and rear spoilers, Turbine II wheels, special graphics and decals, front and rear sway bars, F41 sport suspension and a deluxe interior, resulting in 50 of these being built. As GM downsized its intermediate models for 1978, the Chevelle name was dropped, leaving the Malibu as the nameplate for all models. Today, the Malibu name is synonymous with Chevrolet’s desperate attempt to compete with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, not exactly the platform to bring the fabled Chevelle back with. Today, the Chevelles of the past are the greatest symbol of Chevrolet’s strength during these tumultuous years. Although it existed a mere 13 years before it morphed officially into the Malibu, Chevrolet’s Chevelle remains a beloved muscle car. The Chevelle SS was the carmaker’s high performance version of the Chevelle. Featuring its own line of performance products and engines, the Chevelle SS boasted the most powerfully rated engine of all the muscle cars. For your consideration is this beautiful 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 4-speed replica convertible. Excellent body paint with black vinyl bucket seat interior. If you ever wanted a real Chevelle SS convertible, you know that they are pretty much out of reach for the average person. This replica is as close to the original as you can get at considerably less money. Look closely at all of the photos as well as the video and see if it might be right for you. Feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them and respond ASAP. Here is the link to the video: Engine: The engine is a 1969 – 1972 396ci. It has a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor mated to an Edelbrock intake. The correct exhaust manifolds are present. Please look at the engine photos to see how nice the engine compartment looks. The engine starts and runs excellent with no overheating or messy leaks or drips. Transmission: The transmission is a 1972 Muncie M21. Shifts up and down the gears fine. Exterior: The exterior is exceptional. The chrome and bright work are in very good to excellent condition. All glass is very good with a one small chip on the driver’s side front window. Interior: The interior is in good condition overall. There is one rip on the top of the driver’s side quarter panel. The convertible top is excellent as is the convertible top back window. There is a convertible top boot that goes with the car. The carpet is in good condition and has floor mats. The dash has no rips or tears. Door panels are in good condition as well as the console. Electrical: All exterior lights are in working order to include the headlights, tail lights, running lights, blinkers and the plate light. (The backup lights are not connected.) The speedometer, ribbon tach, wipers, horn and gauges are all functional with the exception of the clock. The heater works fine. The interior lights and the glove box light works. The Sony AM/FM radio works great with a nice set of speakers under the seats. The electric power top works great. There is also a rear power antenna. Trunk: The trunk is in very good rust free condition but does not have the spare wheel or the jack assembly. Mechanical: The brakes to include the emergency brake work correctly. The steering is very good with power steering. The suspension is very good with no issues. Tires and rims are excellent. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, I feel that there is never too much information or too many photos and videos. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS ARE WELCOME WITH A DOWN PAYMENT VIA PAYPAL AND THE BALANCE VIA WIRE TRANSFER ONLY. I ALSO HAVE INTERNATIONAL BUYER REFERENCES FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO CHECK. Although it existed a mere 13 years before it morphed officially into the Malibu, Chevrolet’s Chevelle remains a beloved muscle car. Introduced in 1964, the mid-sized car was produced to compete with the Ford Fairlane. The Chevelle SS was the carmaker’s high performance version of the Chevelle. Featuring its own line of performance products and engines, the Chevelle SS boasted the most powerfully rated engine of all the muscle cars. The 1967 Chevelle changed very little from the previous year, but had a new reworked bumper and a new blackout tail panel. Among other changes, it did come with better drivability because of more aggressive tires, front disc brakes, and 14” wheels. A new three-speed automatic joined the ranks of available transmissions. A new model was introduced, the Concours, which was merely a prestige wagon with wood grain sides. The 300 and 300 Deluxe remained relatively unchanged in their bare-bone offerings. The Deluxe did offer different interior color and more expressive trim. Both offered a 2- and 4-door sedan, while the Deluxe had the added option of a 4-door wagon. The Malibu continued its reign as the leading seller of the Chevelle, and would continue to do so throughout the Chevelle’s life, because it boasted the highest number of model options with the 4-door sport sedan, 2-door sport coupe, convertible, 4-door sedan, and 2-seat station wagon. The Concours was just an upgraded form of the Malibu wagon that most visibly distinguished itself with wood grain sides. Inside, the Concours featured a high-end textured vinyl interior for both the seats and the side panels. The SS 396 saw a performance damper. The L78 was not available, and the L34 dropped to 350hp from 360hp. This was a result of a new GM rule governing the horsepower allowances for all cars other than the Corvette. Although GM did not offer the L78, some dealers installed the engine and 612 cars included this high performance engine. For your consideration is this 1967 Chevelle SS clone. Originally a Malibu Sport Coupe with a V8 engine and a bench seat with column shift automatic, this Malibu was going to be a 427 Chevelle SS with bucket seats and a 4-speed super car. However, it was not to be. The clone process was started in Pennsylvania where the car was repainted to yellow with a black vinyl roof. Bucket seats were added and a 4-speed console was retrofitted to handle the 2-speed automatic transmission. A 350ci engine was installed along with all new interior. (Front and rear seat covers, door panels, head liner and carpet). What is good and bad about the paint is; the bad, it was repainted yellow; the good, it was originally Madeira Maroon or better known for its 1970 color name of Black Cherry. Black Cherry has long been one of the most popular colors ever produced for the Chevrolet cars and I am in hopes that the next owner will restore this Chevelle and paint the car back to that incredibly beautiful color of Madeira Maroon. (Black Cherry) The person I purchased the car from purchased it back in 2003 in Carlisle, PA and drove it back to Maine with the good intention of completing the restoration. He purchased the Maine vanity plate “67 427SS” and that is as far as he got. (The pair of Maine vanity plates will go with the car.) The Chevelle set for the next 12 years in his barn (The barn has a wooden floor.) where I looked it over and purchased it. Due to a very musty smell from sitting, I gutted the entire interior, sprayed with Lysol and cleaned everything I could with Clorox wipes. Then I purchased a new carpet and new headliner and reinstalled the interior with the exception of the headliner which will go with the car. I changed the oil, added antifreeze, blead the brake lines, installed a new temperature sending unit and then decided it was time to try and start the car. Prior to starting the car, I drained the gas tank, installed new gas with octane booster and filled the 4BBL carburetor with gas, letting it sit overnight to re-swell the gaskets. The next morning, I pumped the gas and turned the key and the engine fired right up and idled beautifully. I checked the transmission fluid while the car was running and ended up adding a quart. Don’t get me wrong, the car needs lots of attention. I.e. floor boards, wipers not working, transmission slipping, shocks probably need replacing, low beams not working. However, there are good aspects. i.e. 1967 Chevelle 2-door sport coupe V8, Maderia Maroon (Black Cherry) original color paint, excellent frame rails, new interior, horn works, radio works, oil pressure gauge works, speedometer works, high beams work, running lights work, blinkers work, brake lights work, brakes work. Today I added fuel at the gas station and the fuel gauge started working. (I may have said it was not working in my video which I shot prior to getting gas.) Check out the video here: Exterior: The Yellow paint is driver quality. The glass is all good. The chrome and bright work is driver quality. Decent rims and tires. Doors open and close fine with all exterior locks functioning properly. Interior: The interior is in very good condition overall. There are no rips or tears in the seats, door panels or dash. The carpet is new. There is no headliner installed but a new headliner will go with the car. There is still a slight musty smell that I am told will dissipate. Front seat belts only. The wipers and heater blower motor are not working. Undercarriage: The undercarriage has been patched in areas but the important frame rails are in very good condition. The exhaust needs to be replaced. The gas tank is in good condition with no leaks. Emergency brake is not working. Engine: 350 ci that starts and runs good. No dripping or leaking noticed. As a precaution and a lubricant, I added a container of Bards Aluminum radiator additive when adding the antifreeze. Transmission: The transmission is slipping but is still very drivable. Trunk: The trunk is in good condition having been re-spatter painted at some point. There is no spare or jack assembly. Mechanical: The brakes work correctly. The power steering is fine. The suspension needs to be addressed with new shocks. There is a clunking when going into gear initially. ID Photos : Vin. Number: 136177G107576 Vin. 1971 Chevy Chevelle SS Convertible tribute with a NOM 396 big block. Power top, power steering, power disk brakes, electric fan. Motor is in excellent health, no smoke no weird noises or knocks and no leaks. Super powerful and fast. Automatic TH 350 transmission that shifts nice and smooth. The body is in excellent shape, no rot or rust and is very straight. Trunk is super clean with nice splatter and no rust. Paint is also in excellent shape, I would call it a very nice driver with a few blemishes here and there but shines up extremely well as you can see from the pictures (taken today). No stone chips and no dings, few swirl marks and blemishes like that. Underneath is very clean and rust free, engine bay is sanitary, convertible top is new and in excellent shape, the hydraulics are also new as of last year (convertible boot is also in excellent shape). All the chrome and trim is in excellent shape. Interior is a 9 out of a 10 (has a crack on the bottom of the dash which you can't see unless you stick your head down underneath). It has your typical wear on the armrests, no rips in the seat, very clean. Everything works as it should (headlights, blinkers, brake lights, reverse lights, dummy lights, heat it all works). It's pretty much a stock car with the exception of headers and a full exhaust and a mild shift kit. It has brand new chrome American Racing wheels with new rubber (BF Goodrich). The car has no issues at all, runs and drives like brand new and is a real treat to drive. It has plenty of muscle under the hood and sounds AMAZING!
