Up for auction is a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door sedan, flat black, hot rod, rat rod!. This 1956 Bel Air comes from a friend of mine who owned it for about 12-13 years and put a TON of money and labor into making it what it is today, car was spent the entire time of the NEW owner in a climate control garaged and has never seen rain, and was driven an estimated 100 miles per year to maintain good working order, odometer reads 49,000 miles which is believed to be accurate. An estimated 20,000$ has gone into this car with a TON of NEW parts and REBUILD OEM parts as well over the course of the ownership, as well as ENDLESS hours of labor and care. Let me start by saying this Chevy Bel Air has a 283 v-8 engine in it with 327 heads, exact year unknown it believed to be from the 60's (64-68)the casting on the block reads 3849852, car runs GREAT, starts up on the dime every time, never had an issue as well as no mechanical issues, the 283 packs a good amount of power backed with a Holley 2 barrel (cfm unknown) REBUILT, carb has a manual choke as per dash, 4 speed tranny (unknown) REBUILT, the tranny was REBUILT by the current owner during the restoration, tranny was professional rebuilt by gibraltor and has not seen many miles, comes with a Hurst shifter on the floor, that shifts excellently, this car RUNS GREAT. Valve cover are believed to be the corvette ones that everyone loves. Tires are in great shape, basically new as all the threading is there, size 225 70 R15, the spare tire is BRAND NEW, and still shows blue one the white letters, hubcaps look great with 0 dents in them. Dual exhaust with cherry bombs sounds GREAT, Car definitely screams, HOT ROD, RAT ROD, for those into the trend. Power steering works great, has 4 non power drum brakes with the 1 reservoir master cylinder original to the car, Emergency brake works but could use an adjustment. The rear cover has a very small leak only when parked on a hill facing downhill, other than that it is fine, REBUILT original radiator, REBUILT original generator, with the power steering attached to the generator as per factory, various part replaced from dancheck Chevy parts, fifties forever in NJ. The body was completely redone and has no obvious scratches or dents anywhere just maybe little nicks here and there which is common in ALL of these cars, but nothing that anyone would point out at a car show. Passenger door needs to repainted as there was a crack forming in the body work from it, looks great the way it is or new owner can repaint it or leave it as it definitely gives the rat rod look, underneath frame support rails I believe they are have some rust holes, can be seen in pic, they can easily be patched and I don't see them being any issue to the integrity of the body. Floor pans solid with 0 holes in them, all NEW Bel Air emblems on quarters also brand NEW hood bird, NEW fender moldings, NEW door handles, NEW driver rear view mirror, Bumpers and grill have been painted to match the car same flat black and look GREAT no dents can be seen. Taillights are in good shape they do have some pitting but nothing major and still look great. Doors open and close as should smoothly, with all NEW weather stripping and NO water gets inside the interior of the car, the only place where there is asmall water leak is into the trunk. Owner did endless work detailing the engine in classic Chevy orange well as the engine bay in flat black including the underside of the hood, also painting inside the trunk with the correct spatter paint the correct trunk mats and even has the bumper jack which is HARD to come by nowadays, as well as spare tire sticker which belongs inside trunk, trunk weather stripping BRAND NEW, owner even took a ton of time and painted the underside of the trunk lid which came out great. Interior is RESTORED COMPLETELY, seats reupholstered, NEW adjustment chrome button on front bench seat, dash repainted with a BRAND NEW inner glove box, door panels redone, dash inlay brand NEW, owner put 1955 dash inlay for cosmetic reasons he liked the Chevy symbols in them as supposed to 1956 didn't have them. NEW dome light, NEW headliner that looks great, NEW visor upholstery, Dash is all original gauges look great the glass doesn't appear to have scuffs or scratched seals well and has no leaks, fuel gauge not functioning believed to the be the float in the tank not the actual gauge itself all the rest function as should, heat works as well as kick vents, car has original AM stereo (doesn't work), speaker has been removed, clock is NEW, and it WORKS! which is very hard to come by, NEW carpet with the correct looping, NEW floor mats with Bel Air symbols. Horn not working, signals and lights all work as should, turn signal arm must be done manually as it does not spring back, all lights work except for reverse, high beams work as they should, license plate lights work as should. Glass is GREAT 3 of the windows have been replaced all function up and down as should including the glass vents on the windows. The passenger side on the windshield has some scratch around with the glass curves can be seen in the pictures. This is a GREAT HOT ROD, RAT ROD, for anyone looking for a special vehicle, keep in mind vehicle is almost 60 YEARS OLD, and when buying as of these classics there is always something to do or always a minor issue here and there. Car comes with the original moldings which are in the same shape as the window moldings with no pitting really or dents they have the same luster as the window moldings a should probably be polished if new owner chooses, Car also comes with owner manuals from the 1956 Chevy Bel Air as well as authentic literature as seen in pictures, Car has had endless work done to it including TON OF NEW PARTS as well as REBUYILD OEM parts to keep this car authentic at the same time, hard to come by a HOT ROD CHEVY that's this nice. Car is being SOLD AS IS, SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY, car is available locally and can be seen upon request as well, seller reserves the right to end auction early is decided, BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING, here is your chance to own a great hot rod as well as a piece of AMERICAN HISTORY, Chevy Bel Airs will never lose their value as they will always a icon of the golden American age. Check the pics out, shows a lot of details, let me add that this car looks EVEN BETTER in person. Any questions feel free to ask at any time.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1957 Chevy Belair HT 2 door, Turquoise/White - link to more photos: .https://plus.google.com/photos/110334113782192714106/albums/6080973693665251969. Mechanically great condition! Engine really sounds wonderful. Excellent paint. Owned 15 years. Totally clear exhaust. 1-piece, Calif. bumper, just tuned, new spark-plugs, oil, filters, runs and rides beautiful, very well cared for. Clean, straight body, great interior, no rust, 1957 engine 283 v8, 220hp, Great sound! Stock 1957 engine specs, power pack, dual exhaust, 2 speed powerglide – really smooth! Carter 4 brl carb, HEI ignition with stock distributor, power assist brakes, power steering, alternator, fender skirts, orig. spinner hub caps, seat belts, fan shroud. Garage kept, rebuilt engine/heads with all new parts only 2,800 miles, heads from 1962, almost new tires wide whites radials Goodyear, great brakes, front sway bar, rear shock absorber brace (better ride), am/fm cassette – looks original. AM tube radio restored by electronics tech ready to be installed. When I got the car was turquoise, original color was Dusk Rose. I had the hood and top painted by one of the best. Shop is in business 80 years, family owned and authorized by Dupont. They authorize and specifically name very few shops. Have bumper guards, papers for all work done and parts bought. Searched far and wide for best original or repro parts. For example, Goodyear tires on car are limited production from factory, made-in-USA and $200 each. Hood springs, shocks, springs, hoses, brake, fuel lines, electrical, wiring, water pump, gas tank, wheel bearings (roller style) all heavy duty. Rust-proofing under carpet and extra padding to prevent noise/heat, engine area exhaust pipes wrapped. Front bumper chromed using copper in Canada with top craftsmanship. Most places don't use copper.Note - car has alternator, not generator. You will most likely never have to do anything except general maintenance. The transmission oil is the actual oil made for the car in 1957 and fits the tranny the best. Paint is not original color from factory. Engine is 1957 but not the same one installed at factory. Power steering is aftermarket. Brakes are power (or vacuum) assist. Hate to sell but getting a new car. Buyer to arrange towing. I'm at 212 734 8458 for questions. THIS IS A CLEAN EVERY DAY DRIVING CAR NEEDS SOME TLC ON THE INTERIOR SIDE RUNS AND DRIVES FINE ORIGINAL STEERING WHEEL WILL BE SOLD WITH CAR ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY For 1955, Chevrolet's full-size model received all new styling and power. It was called the "Hot One" in GM's advertising campaign. Chevrolet's styling was crisp, clean and incorporated a Ferrari-inspired grille. Bel Airs came with features found on cars in the lower models ranges plus interior carpet, chrome headliner bands on hardtops, chrome spears on front fenders, stainless steel window moldings,[1] and full wheel covers. Models were further distinguished by the Bel Air name script in gold lettering later in the year.[8] For 1955 Chevrolets gained a V8 engineoption.and the option of a 2 speed automatic transmission powerglide or a three speed manual transmission with optional overdrive. The new265 cu in (4,340 cc) V8 featured a modern, overhead valve high compression, short stroke design that was so good that it remained in production in various displacements for many decades. The base V8 had a two-barrel carburetor and was rated at 162 hp (121 kW), and the "Power Pack" option featured a four-barrel carburetor and other upgrades yielding 180 bhp (130 kW). Later in the year, a "Super Power Pack" option added high-compression and a further 15 bhp (11 kW). "Idiot" lights replaced gauges for the generator and oil pressure.[9]Motor Trend magazine gave the Bel Air top marks for handling.[9] Popular Mechanics reported acceleration for a V8 Bel Air with Powerglide as being 0-60 mph in 12.9 seconds, plus a comfortable ride, and good visibility. On the other hand, the horn ring blocked some of the speedometer, regular gasoline made the engine knock, and the first V8 engine off the line burned too much oil.[10] Front legroom was 43.1".[1] Brakes were 11" drums.[11] A new option for V8-equipped 1955 models was air conditioning, with outlets on each side of the dashboard; a heavy-duty generator was included on cars equipped with this option. The 1956 Bel Air received a face-lift with a more conventional full-width grille, pleasing those customers who didn't favor the Ferrari-inspired '55 front end. Distinctive two-tone bodyside treatments and graceful front and rear wheel openings completed the "speedline" restyling. Single housings incorporated the taillight, stoplight, and backup light, and the left one held the gas filler - an idea popularized on Cadillacs. Among the seven Bel Air models was a new Sport Sedan, a pillarless four-door hardtop that looked handsome with all the windows rolled down and allowed easy entry into the back seat. Production exceeded 103,000, compared to 128,000 two-door hardtops. Shapely two-door Nomad wagons topped the price chart at $2,608, but now carried the same interior and rear-wheel sheetmetal as other Bel Airs, lacking the original's unique trim. Only 7,886 were built. The least costly Bel Air, at $2,025, was the two-door sedan. Seatbelts, shoulder harnesses, and a padded dashboard were available,[9] and full-size cars could even get the hot Corvette 225-horsepower engine. In 1956 sales material there was an optional rain-sensing automatic top,[12] which was first seen on the first on the 1951 LaSabre concept car. However, it is believed that it was never installed on a car.[13]Popular Mechanics reported only 7.4% of owners in their survey ordered seat belts. In 1957 engine displacement grew to 283 cu in (4,640 cc) with the "Super Turbo Fire V8" option producing 283 hp (211 kW) with the help of continuous (closed loop) mechanical fuel injection. These so-called "fuelie" cars are quite rare, since most Bel Airs were fitted with carburetion. The 1957 Bel Air is among the most recognizable American cars of all time; well-maintained examples, especially Sport Coupes and Convertiblesare highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts. They are roomy, with tastefully restrained, period use tail fins and chrome. A second automatic transmission, Turboglide, was optional. While the original two-speed Powerglide continued unchanged, Turboglide provided a continuously variable gear ratio which made "shifting" imperceptible. The shift quadrant on Turboglide cars followed a "P R N D Gr" pattern.[14][15]From 1955 to 1957, production of the two-door Nomad station wagon was assigned to the Bel Air series, although its body and trim were unique to that model. Prior to becoming a regular production model, the Nomad first appeared as a Corvette-based concept vehicle in 1954. Chevrolet has since unveiled two concept cars bearing the Nomad name, most recently in 1999. The 1955–1957 Chevrolets are commonly referred to as TriFives.
