The best cars are those that are fully updated mechanically, yet look so spectacular that it's hard to believe they've been driven. This 1955 Chevy Bel Air 2-door post coupe is such a vehicle, with heart-stopping good looks and a totally streetable attitude. There are a lot of 1955 Chevys out there, that's true. It's a popular car, both then and now, and the reasons folks fall in love with them are obvious. But to rise to the top, to have a car that can be driven and enjoyed, while delivering the kind of looks that makes kids and grown men stop in their tracks as it drives by, well, that's not as easy as it sounds. So you'll definitely appreciate this car's beautiful black-over-silver paint scheme, which is a bit modern, but sticks to the factory's break points for the colors, and keeps all the original trim intact. The finish is show-quality all the way, with excellent gaps and enough time invested in the bodywork to make it really stand out from lesser cars. We love the look of the black top and the tinted windows, but nothing has been shaved, altered, or tweaked, proving once again that the right paint can make or break a car. There's another sizeable chunk of change invested in getting the chrome refinished, but the results were definitely worth it, as it sparkles like jewelry on this Bel Air and the overall look delivers in a big way. The interior is wonderfully subtle, and the outstanding execution and neat details make it an excellent place to spend some time. The original seats are gone, replaced by a pair of leather-wrapped buckets flanking a custom-built center console. The dash was fully restored, with fresh Dakota Digital gauges tucked into the original gauge panel, and the band of bright metal that stretches from end to end is very trick, smoothly eliminating the secondary controls and radio for a clean, smooth look. A custom center console was fabbed up, including an armrest and a cool custom shifter for the 5-speed manual transmission. There's also A/C, an AM/FM/CD stereo radio, and a tilt steering column topped by a stock-looking wheel that has been finished to match the interior. The back seat has been split into two buckets astride the full-length console and the trunk is tastefully finished in black carpets. The engine bay glitters with the look of a full custom piece. That's a thundering 427 cubic inch V8 under that custom air cleaner, and it's a neat fit in the '55 engine bay. Obviously there was an extraordinary amount of time and effort dedicated to the engine bay, showcasing a lot of polished and chrome plated parts as well as custom paint work that gives it a cool monochromatic look. There's a pair of Edelbrock 4-barrel carbs under the air cleaner and the front end is fitted with a serpentine belt drive for the accessories, so it's reliable and quiet. All the wiring and plumbing was expertly hidden out of sight, the inner fenders were finished, the firewall was smoothed, and the aluminum radiator up front has a custom shroud to blend it all together. The aforementioned 5-speed manual transmission spins a Ford 9-inch rear end with 3.89 gears on a limited slip, but with the overdrive gear, it cruises beautifully on the highway. The chassis is a custom powdercoated Art Morrison setup with A-arms, coil-overs, rack-and-pinion steering, and 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes. The stance is just right and those custom billet wheels and Yokohama performance radials work perfectly. With more than $175,000 invested in the build, this two-time magazine feature car is still extremely fresh. Drive or show, it's up to you, and this Bel Air excels at both. It's hard to pinpoint what, exactly, makes them special, but when this 1957 Chevy Bel Air 2-door post coupe showed up, it had that certain something that made us all take a few extra minutes checking it out. Go ahead and look at the photos, and I'll bet you say, "Wow," when you see all the details. Smart builders always leave the '57 Chevy's sheetmetal alone and concentrate on making it as straight as possible instead, and that's certainly the case here. White may not seem all that sexy at first glance, but take a closer look at this one: it's not white, it's a prismatic pearl that glows in the sunlight and casts all kinds of wonderful reflections in its flanks. It's not perfect, but if you're sick of looking at red and black '57s, this one is a welcome relief that stands out in a crowd. The trim makes the Bel Air special, and it's all there and in mostly original condition, so it has a nice shine but isn't perfect, and the door handles could probably be replaced to really upgrade the look. The stylish interior shows off the plenty of custom work, wearing white vinyl upholstery that looks a lot like what this car might have carried when it was new. Custom door panels were created to match, and there's a white headliner overhead as well. To add some contrast, red pearl was used on the dash, steering column and even the steering wheel, and with the brilliant white exterior and upholstery, it looks awesome. The instrument panel still carries the original speedometer, which is flanked by the stock auxiliary gauges, but there's also a tach on top of the dash and the usual trio of auxiliary gauges underneath. Of course, the car's most noteworthy upgrade is the 5-speed manual transmission, and they've chosen a suitably long Hurst shifter to make it look vintage. An AM/FM stereo slots neatly into the dash so nothing was hacked up and the trunk is finished with black felt that gives it a finished look that's about right for a trunk. The 350 under the hood looks great and you know where the big money was spent on this build. Horsepower builders include an Edelbrock Performer intake and Holley 4-barrel carburetor, as well as a set of long-tube headers that connect to a beautifully fabricated Flowmaster exhaust system. A full chrome dress-up kit gives it the appropriate amount of sparkle, and a big aluminum radiator up front keeps it cool no matter what the outside temperature. It's backed by the aforementioned Tremec 5-speed manual gearbox, which promises easy cruising and impressive fuel economy. A power steering box improves responsiveness and power front disc brakes are a great safety upgrade. 15-inch chrome Ridler wheels are a modern take on the classic Torque Thrust and wear 225/60/15 radials that fill the wheel wells nicely. A great driver-grade build done by a guy who did it because he was fulfilling a dream, not looking for a return on his investment. Enjoy the benefits of this special car and call us today! 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air for Sale 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air for Sale Stock # 2938-ATL Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] Tampa Showroom 4610 Pet Lane Lutz, FL 33559 Local/International: (813) 501-1630 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE Vehicle may be sold by Streetside Classic Cars prior to the end of the auction. The more of one you have, the less of the other you need, but there's no way around it, a car this nice requires a serious investment. Packing a beautifully detailed LS1 under the hood and a '50s perfect two-tone color scheme, this is a car that everyone can appreciate. Fast, reliable, and gorgeous, it's everything the original designers wanted the 1955 Chevy to be, and with only 161 miles on the build, it's fresh, fresh, fresh! The two-tone paint job looks very factory correct, although it uses modern Victory Red and bright white to give it a sparkling contrast. It's a combination that would have looked right at home on the streets of 1955, although there was no such thing as paint that looked this good back then. The bodywork is straight enough that the glossy paint shows beautifully, and the car fits together extremely well, the result of all that time and money. The white India Ivory is a very elegant contrast to the bright, cheerful red, and together they give the car a bright glow that is perfect for the era without the heavy metallics we get today. All the original trim is intact, which also means someone spent enough cash restoring it to put a kid through college. Detailing is crisp, and there are virtually zero flaws in the brightwork. In person, this car is impossible to ignore. The interior has been restored to look period correct with a few notable exceptions. The seats wear two-tone leather seat covers with narrow pleats for a true '50s vibe and the door panels were stitched to match. Matching red carpets show expert binding work and the headliner overhead uses chrome bows that are one of the car's most striking styling features. You'll note the dash is quite stock and totally dazzling, with the original gauges being restored and functional. Sharp-eyed viewers will spot the A/C vents under the dash, which are effective without changing the character of the interior. There is no radio, but that only means it's waiting for you to install the entertainment system of your own choosing, and it hasn't been cut so no worries there. In back, the trunk was restored with a rubber mat and you'll note that even the rear of the back seat has been upholstered. Power comes from a well-dressed LS1 V8 that was built to cruise. Liberal doses of chrome and polished aluminum make the engine bay glitter, including the intake snorkel, brake master cylinder, and A/C compressor. Modern amenities include factory fuel injection, so it starts and idles like your daily driver and actually pulls down decent fuel economy on the open road. Wiring and plumbing is neatly installed and with a big aluminum radiator up front, keeping things cool is no big deal. Underneath there's a slick-shifting 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission, a nice upgrade over the original 2-speed PowerGlide. Custom headers feed a mellow-sounding dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers while the suspension and brakes have been fully rebuilt. It rides on a set of staggered American Racing aluminum wheels with 17-inch Nittos up front and 18s in back. It's rare to see cars this nice, and when one like this shows up at a cruise night or car show, it's obvious where the big money was spent. From the superb paint and bodywork to the rumbling V8 under the hood, it's a car that will delight you every time you see it in the garage or climb behind the wheel, which is what this hobby is all about. Wrong! Take a good, long look at this amazing 1957 Chevrolet 210 2-door and you'll find a huge amount of time, effort, and money went into the build, with the result being a big-block show car that can hammer down the highway better than almost anything else on four wheels. It cost more than $160,000 to build, so you know it's amazing, but you really need to see it in person to see just how spectacular it really is. The color is House of Kolor Orion Silver, a wonderful, soft, sophisticated hue that gives the 210 a very expensive look. The investment in quality bodywork is evident everywhere you look and the simple 210 trim doesn't leave any areas for shoddy workmanship to hide. The deep, glossy finish not only makes heads turn with its unusual look, but it's surprisingly easy on the eyes, hiding dirt and blemishes quite well, so you don't need to be afraid to drive it. A few liberties were taken, including shaving the nose emblem and trimming the deck lid, both time-honored custom tricks that seem to pay especially big dividends on the '57 Chevys. Spectacular chrome only enhances the sparkling, high-quality look and you know few things are more expensive to refinish than the brightwork on a '50s automobile. Add in the bright stainless body trim that's a highlight of the 210 models and you have a car that doesn't have a single wrong line on it anywhere. There's not much 1957 left inside with a pair of gorgeous custom buckets up front and spectacular red leather upholstery all around, stitched by M&M Custom Interiors. The stock Chevy dash was slightly reworked and now houses a full set of bright Dakota Digital gauges in the original 3-gauge instrument panel and even though the overall look is pure 1957, it sure seems sleeker and more high-tech, doesn't it? A billet wheel with two-tone leather on the rim, plus plush red carpets, and a custom center console all add to the modern feel and amenities such as A/C, power windows, and a tilt column mean that you never feel like you're driving a 60-year-old car. The styling is dramatic and careful attention to detail is why this one is a show-winner, and you can rest assured that no car in 1957 ever looked this good. The stereo is an AM/FM/CD/iPod system that sounds great to all the extra sound-deadening materials used during the build and the trunk is outfitted with more custom stitchwork and a removable bulkhead hiding the stereo equipment and battery. Instead of a ho-hum small block, this spectacular 210 packs 427 cubic inches of Hendrick Motorsports big block V8. Like you, we're tired of seeing garden-variety engines in these cars, and this mammoth torque factory will definitely impress passengers and onlookers alike. It's supremely smooth and thanks to a big Holley carburetor, it starts quickly, idles smoothly, and pulls without a hitch. At shows, you'll be extra proud to pop the hood and show off the OEM-grade mechanicals, including things like the alternator and A/C compressor, as well as valve covers and even the intake manifold, which have a cool black crinkle finish. It's really impressive. The entire chassis was custom fabricated by Fatman Fabrications, and includes power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes as well as a custom dual exhaust system featuring ceramic-coated long-tube headers and Flowmaster mufflers has an awesome sound that won't be easy to forget. A 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission feeds a rugged 9-inch Ford rear end with 3.73 gears inside and the suspension was lowered to give it a wicked stance. Right-sized Torque Thrust wheels look great and roll inside 245/45/17 front and 255/55/17 rear Nitto radials. With only 945 miles since the frame-off build, this car cost a heck of a lot more to build than the asking price today. If you like a bit of sophistication with your performance, this Chevy delivers in a very big way. This '57 Bel Air is quite possibly the nicest we've featured, and we've sold hundreds of them. The bodywork is pure 1957 Chevy with no additions or deletions, no modifications, and nothing to detract from the car that everybody loves. Larkspur Blue comes from the original color charts, too, so it has a very authentic 1950s look and there's probably nobody in the western world who doesn't recognize it instantly. But when you get close to this one, the quality becomes quite readily apparent. The paint is deep, smooth, and glossy beyond what you get from the local body shop, this is professional-grade art. The steel bodywork underneath is probably nicer than it was new, with even the smallest flaws carefully erased. And those gaps around the doors are even enough to pass the Lexus ball bearing test with ease. The chrome was restored to show condition and the stainless was polished or replaced with exact replicas. Now it may seem like we're going on and on about the details, but the fact is, I'm not sure how you could make a car nicer than this. There are a few signs of use, but there's no question that the quality of the build was off-the-charts impressive, especially considering it was purchased in pieces and put back together. At a glance, the Harbor Blue interior appears to be nicely restored to pretty much stock condition, and that's largely true. The upholstery on the seats replicates the original cloth and vinyl in both materials and patterns, and it has a very cool period look, no doubt about that. But again, it's the details that get you. Check out the trick steering wheel that looks like the original but is smaller, fatter, and has a leather wrapper. It also makes for a nice transition into the under-dash Vintage A/C system that's so subtly integrated that you hardly notice it's there. The gauges are neat Classic Instruments white-faced dials that fit into the original housings but provide a lot more information (there's even a tach!), and the original radio remains in the dash for a factory look. All the glass is in great shape, too, and the trunk is very neatly finished with a rubber mat, and you can see how carefully built it is with the rear-mounted battery and Shockwaves Air Ride suspension controls tucked up on the shelf. The engine is a crate 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 Ram-Jet fuel injection, providing modern reliability with an old-school look. Finned valve covers add to that familiar high-performance look, and you have to admit that the look is quintessential Chevrolet. A billet serpentine drive system enhances efficiency and looks great, especially with the cleverly hidden HVAC lines tucked into the front fender. All the lines and hoses are braided stainless and the big PRC aluminum radiator up front has a cool custom cradle. It's backed by a rugged 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and an upgraded Master Power 9" posi rear end, all of which have been detailed like original. The suspension features Heidts custom A-arms and airbags up front and air shocks in back, and there's a disc brake at all four corners. 18-inch Billet Specialties wheels have a slick look and wear grippy performance rubber. There's just not enough space to cover all the goodies on this amazing Bel Air. But you can rest assured that we are highly impressed by this car, and after seeing hundreds of them, that's not easy to do. This gorgeous Bel Air hardtop is a mild resto-mod with all the modern conveniences, but a very traditional stock look. If you enjoy driving your collector cars, you need to drive this '57. As a solid southern car, it's an incredibly straight, clean hardtop that totally nails the traditional, OEM look that so many people admire. With a show-quality Matador Red finish atop some extremely straight bodywork, it would be easy to dismiss this one as a trailer queen. Gaps are excellent, and the paint is so vivid that you need sunglasses to look directly at it. All the delightful '57 Chevy details are in place, too, including the gold anodized front grille and stylized 'V' that indicates 8 cylinders under the hood, the polished stainless trim along the flanks and which surrounds the anodized panels in back. Show chrome like this doesn't come cheap, either, and there's no evidence that any corners were cut anywhere on this car. Original materials and patterns were used for the interior as well, duplicating the '50s with a few thoughtful upgrades that make it a pleasure to drive. The seats are gorgeous red and black fabric with vinyl trim, and it fits so well that it was surely done by professionals not in someone's garage. Black carpets with red rubber floor mats continue the theme down low, while the beautifully restored dashboard is full of rebuilt gauges. Air conditioning has been integrated into the dash as well, but it's so neatly done that you hardly even notice it, even when you know it's there. There's a 700R4 4-speed automatic behind the engine, but the only tipoff is a properly labeled shift indicator, which now shows four forward gears. And speaking of trick modifications, check out the beautiful stock-style wheel which could easily pass for original, were it not for the smaller 15-inch diameter. Too cool! A fully dressed 350 cubic inch small block delivers the power, and given the amount of dress-up on the engine, you're going to have to practice getting the hood open every time you stop. Fitted with a Summit serpentine belt system for reliability, a massive radiator, and power steering and brakes, it drives like a modern car. Stainless hoses and thoughtful wire routing keep everything neat, and the beautifully finished inner fenders are the perfect background for the glittering engine. Underneath, it's like a stock car, with red oxide primer on the floors and a satin black frame, complete with a 3.50 geared rear end with Positraction. It's not a show piece, but if you want a cool old car you can get in and drive cross-country, this is an excellent choice, especially with upgrades like A/C and a powerful stereo. There are still great cars for not a lot of cash out there! This whole car looks to have been dipped in electric blue paint, but the work underneath is well done. Painting the trim body color announces that this is a street rod, but none of the classic lines have been altered and the 1950 Chevrolets in particular were great blends of '40s curves and '50s streamlining. Good sheetmetal lines up well and fits together properly, so the car stands up at shows and local cruise nights. It shows some signs of use, of course, because it really was built to drive and have fun and you shouldn't hold that against it. There are a few remaining bright pieces of trim like the peep mirror and antenna, but the rest is painted to match the body, which probably required a fair amount of work all by itself. Nothing was shaved or deleted, so it retains its classic look, and with blue dot taillights out back, there's a definite retro vibe going through the whole design. The bright tan interior uses bucket seats and a console to give the vintage Chevy a more modern feel, and it's an easy place to spend some time. The seats themselves are obviously from a late-model and are as comfortable as you'd expect. The console was custom made and includes the controls for the Vintage Air A/C system, shifter, and diamond-plate trim which gives it an industrial-strength look. The big, round central gauge still has the original speedometer inside, with Auto Meter auxiliary gauges arrayed across the center of the dash. A tilt steering column and a billet wheel that has a mildly retro look seems appropriate, and things like the carpets and door panels are nicely tailored for the vintage coupe. A JVC stereo head unit powers speakers throughout the car plus a Rockford Fosgate subwoofers in a custom diamond plate enclosure in the trunk. Tinted windows all around give it a sleeker look despite being completely stock and the trunk is still big enough to use on road trips. Nice! A 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 is a neat fit in the 1950 engine bay, which originally held a Stovebolt Six. More diamond plate, some polished aluminum and a very high level of functionality highlight the engine compartment, which is a nice blend of show car dressiness and go-down-the-road serviceability. A Camaro front clip adds an independent suspension, power front disc brakes, and power steering, while a TH350 3-speed automatic powers a 10-bolt rear on leaf springs. Long-tube headers and a custom dual exhaust system give it a proper hot rod sound that doesn't get annoying on long cruises and it's a very strong runner that's downright quick on the street. Classic Centerline aluminum wheels with 215/65/15 Pirelli radials add bright contrast to the otherwise monochromatic bodywork. Affordable never looked this good, and the '50s shape is sure to draw more than its fair share of admirers. No, this one is professionally built, incredibly detailed, and beautifully finished and probably cost another 50% more than the asking price to build. If you want the kind of car that wins big trophies, gets on the pages of magazines, and flat-out dominates local cruise nights, they don't come much cooler than this. Most folks won't even get past the paint before they're speechless. The deep blue finish with intricate ghost flames looks simply spectacular, with the flames almost moving around as you walk around the car in the sunlight. Of course, that amazing paint is so impressive that you might miss the dozens of body mods that are under it, from the smoothed quarter panels to the shaved emblems to the removed vent windows. Bodywork is beyond impressive, with hardly a ripple or wave anywhere on the car and while it has been driven just over 1000 miles since it was completed, there are no signs of it anywhere. A cowl induction hood was added and that small change makes a big difference on the vintage '50s shape, adding an aggressive stance that it didn't have before. And the smooth grille, 1-piece bumpers, and modified taillights all help with the super slick look. Heck, even the gaps are tight enough to handle the Lexus ball bearing test. The interior is fully customized as well, starting with comfortable buckets flanking a fabricated center console. The glove-soft leather and suede was wrapped around the power bucket seats, the rear bench, the door panels, and even the console itself, but it still has a distinct 1950s flair. Detailing is extremely impressive, with little stuff like a courtesy light on the back of the console and the original E-brake handle reminding us that there were professionals at work here. The dashboard itself is fairly stock, but the gauges are a custom insert designed to fit in the original housing and A/C vents have been artfully integrated into the design. There's also a massive entertainment system that includes a Sony AM/FM/CD/iPod head unit, Kicker amp, and speakers stashed throughout the interior. Other goodies include a tilt column and power windows, making this a no-compromises cruiser. They probably spent more finishing the trunk than many guys spend on their entire interiors, so be sure to show it off when you take this car to shows. The entire chassis was swapped for an Art Morrison GT Sport chassis, which is anchored by a 350 cubic inch crate motor. Workmanship is outstanding and that Hilborn fuel injection system really makes a statement. There's a custom billet serpentine belt drive system, beautiful custom valve covers, smoothed firewall and inner fenders, and even the hoses for the radiator are custom polished stainless steel pieces. The chassis is fortified with Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners, stainless tubular A-arms, power rack-and-pinion steering, coil-over shocks, and a beautifully built dual exhaust system. The components are in like-new condition and the car runs and drives like a modern machine with superb handling and impressive ride quality. The lowered stance is just about perfect and those staggered Billet Specialties wheels carry 245/45/17 front and 275/40/18 rear Kumho performance radials. This car is impressive in every way imaginable. Years of work and tens of thousands of dollars produced what is easily one of the very best Tri-Fives we've ever represented. EXTERIOR COLOR: ODOMETER READING: 7786 INTERIOR COLOR : VEHICLE FEATURES & OPTIONS AM/FM Radio, CD Player, Air Conditioning, Cloth Interior, Tilt Wheel, Four Wheel Disc Brakes, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Seatbelts-Rear, Heat SELLER REMARKS Any tri-five Chevy is a cool car, but some are simply cooler than others. This 1955 Chevrolet 210 2-door post sedan is in that rarefied category: a cool two-tone exterior, exquisitely detailed with a custom interior, and a strong-running small block backed by a manual gearbox. The money was spent on this car, and it was spent well. There's a massive gulf between most of the cars you see at a cruise night and a truly nice car that's ready to cruise. It's always helpful to have a nice base, and this car was found mostly intact and didn't need a lot of major surgery to get back into shape. Many hours were spent sanding and prepping the panels and the results are clear: an awesome two-tone combination that practically leaps off the sheetmetal. It's got a few signs of age on it now, but this Chevy has a clean, traditional look that has remained at the top of enthusiasts' lists for more than six decades now. All new or restored trim went on, and the car's been upgraded to Bel Air trim, so it looks flashy anywhere you look. Nothing was shaved or deleted, and for many Tri-Five fans, the 1955 models are the cleanest, simplest of the bunch, with a look that's timeless. Simple is the word inside, headlining a comfy interior that keeps most of the stock parts and gives them a modern twist. That appears to be the original front bench seat, which has been wrapped in comfortable and clean gray cloth using factory-style patterns. Matching gray carpets, built-from-scratch door panels, and a custom center stack keep it subtle while delivering a new twist on an old favorite. Billet dash panels and Dakota Digital gauges are additional custom touches and a set of auxiliary dials were tucked in under the center glove box. There's also an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit, under-dash A/C and speakers stashed throughout. Your hands will be busy with the Corvette tilt/telescoping steering column and the crafty Hurst shifter stick stirring the Muncie 4-speed underneath. The trunk has been neatly finished to match, with gray carpets and custom side panels that give it a custom look without stealing practicality. There's more shiny stuff in the engine compartment than on the body, which makes the mill a real focal point. It's a stout ZZ4 350 cubic inch crate motor with a great-sounding cam, headers, and a pair of four barrel carbs up top. Braided hoses run every fluid from the antifreeze to the brakes to the power steering and a plain chrome air cleaner and finned valve covers add to the dressed-up look. Sensible upgrades include a serpentine belt system for the accessories, a dual master cylinder with power assist, and power steering working in conjunction with the original suspension. Ceramic-coated long-tube headers feed a fresh dual exhaust system with just the right rumbling exhaust note, and this is one of the most well-tuned dual-quad cars we've ever driven, with almost instantaneous throttle response. The 4-speed snaps through the gears like a bolt-action rifle. The chassis is built to drive, so it's not shiny and perfect, but you can see that a lot of work went into this build. Classic Cragar 5-spoke wheels are a more unusual touch relative to the usual Torque Thrusts, and they carry staggered 205/70/15 front and 235/70/15 rear performance radials. It's easy to say "well, you couldn't build it for xxx dollars," but usually that's just an excuse for an average car. This one has the right parts, great workmanship, and looks fantastic, and you still couldn't build it for the asking price. Call today and secure this awesome Chevy for your collection! 1955 Chevrolet 210 for Sale 1955 Chevrolet 210 for Sale Stock # 2773-ATL Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. Whether that's because there are fewer of them or because their owners love them too much to part with them, I can't say. What I can say is that if you're a fan of the smooth, refined look of the '56 models, this car is an excellent choice for a turn-key rod. Painting it bright red means that someone wanted to get noticed, and with that comes the responsibility to get the bodywork right. Many hobbyists feel that the '56s are the cleanest of the Tri-Fives, and the awesome red finish on this one certainly reinforces that perspective. There's no place for sloppy gaps to hide, so someone made sure they were nice and even, and while two-tone paint jobs were offered by the factory, the simple look of this car makes a statement, too. It was done a few years ago, so it's been driven and enjoyed, but you can't argue with the looks this car gets on the street. The polished stainless, particularly the 210's unique side trim, stands out and looks fantastic, emphasizing the car's lean, sporty profile. There's also a sizeable investment in chrome, because the bumpers, grille, and other ornamentation is in excellent shape, and despite being a custom build, there no deviations from the stock look and all the trim is present and accounted for. The interior nails the perfect blend of retro and modern, combining the original dash with upgrades like modern cloth upholstery that looks great. Doing it this way not only gives you more comfort, but an upholstery combination that looks fantastic in the vintage Chevy bodywork. The back seat and custom door panels were stitched to match the front seat, and black carpets help keep the interior looking serious. A tilt column with leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel adds to the comfort, because you're going to want to spend a lot of time in here. The dash is full of gorgeous gauges that are as nice here as they were in 1956, and for entertainment, there's an AM/FM/cassette stereo that fits in the dash like it was born there. The biggest modification might be the shifter, but it fits in neatly enough given this car's dual personality. The trunk has a stock look with a rubber mat and bias-ply spare on a steel wheel, and if you look closely, you'll see that this car is also quite solid underneath. Easy and reliable cruising was the goal, and with that in mind they installed a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 with double hump heads, HEI ignition, a Holley 4-barrel carb, and a Weiand intake manifold. There's plenty of chrome and billet aluminum under there, too, because you're going to want to take this one to the cruise night and open the hood, and you'll dig details like the braided stainless lines that are used throughout. An automatic transmission offers quick reflexes and the stock rear end hangs on a set of air shocks so this car always has just the right attitude. Long-tube headers and a Flowmaster exhaust system sounds awesome, and power disc brakes show that this car was meant for the road, not the show field. Classic Torque Thrust mags finish the traditional look and wear 225/70/15 blackwall radials. It's a safe bet to assume this car will be like all the other '56s we feature: it won't last long. For example, if I had claimed the last '55 Chevy to come through was "the nicest we'd ever seen," well, then I'd have to make up something new for this one, because it's simply stunning. Not only does it help keep the hyperbole under control, but it also keeps us honest. Is this the nicest? I sure wouldn't bet against it. Shoebox Chevys demand two-tone paint, just like the factory intended. It tends to emphasize the chrome and trim, all of which remain intact on this custom, restored to show condition. The colors used here are from a late-model color palette, Satin Silver over Sunburst Orange, and it really works on the 60-year-old shape. All the body panels are laser straight, and the reflections in our photo studio are proof enough that someone invested the time and effort to make this one look right. All the things that make these cars great also make them a challenge to restore, and if your panels don't align correctly, you're going to see it in mismatched trim. And thanks to nearly $200,000 in build costs and five years of hard labor, this one measures up in every way with nary a mark on the spectacular paint. Better yet, check out the shaved door handles, the cool Corvette grille insert, and all the other little tricks that make this car look awesome without erasing its identity. The completely custom interior is a big step up from 1955, and offers all the comforts and conveniences of a modern luxury car. Those power bucket seats are as comfortable as they look, featuring two-tone gray leather on the seating surfaces and custom embroidery to tie it together with the exterior. A custom full-length center console houses various controls for the A/C, plus speakers for the stereo system, and makes this '55 a genuine 4-seater with a pair of matching buckets in back. The dashboard has the original design, but it's been wrapped in trick carbon fiber accents and uses Dakota Digital gauges for a very up-to-date look. The A/C system almost vanishes under the dash, yet remains effective with R134a refrigerant inside, and a powerful AM/FM/CD entertainment system fills the car with sound. This car is so nice, even the trunk has been fully upholstered, highlighting some very impressive electrical work, the massive amplifier setup for the stereo, and a remote-mounted battery. Impressive! You can't make a car look this good and not have it perform, so a 502 cubic inch "Ram Jet" V8 went under the hood. Fed by a towering fuel injection system and dressed up with awesome finned valve covers, the brutally powerful big block makes great torque and is happy trundling through traffic or hammering down the interstate with the A/C cranking. It never overheats, idles properly, and delivers instant power at any speed thanks to careful programming of the fuel injection system. It's backed by a 4L60E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission from Gearstar and it's built to handle more than 500 horsepower, so no worries about big power. A 9-inch rear with 3.73 gears on a limited slip puts down the power thanks to a four-link suspension with coil-overs. Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes provide massive stopping power and you won't find many chassis that are better detailed. A custom exhaust system with cut-outs sounds fantastic, and it rides on cool Foose wheels that look like a vintage Torque Thrust but handle modern Bridgestone rubber Customs don't get much nicer than this. Thanks to a pile of receipts that reach deep into six-figure territory, this is a car that you can drive anywhere with confidence, and it will still draw a crowd anywhere it goes. Finished in Imperial Ivory with a rumbling small block and a 4-speed automatic, this is the ultimate '50s cruiser with modern upgrades that is a pleasure to drive and show. Repainted a few years ago and still in good overall condition, this Bel Air has a subtle, resto-mod look that also offers a lot of authenticity. Workmanship is decent all around, with flat panels that fit together well and good depth to the finish, so it has a proper 1957 look without being too shiny and slick. Look at the door gaps, the way the polished stainless trim flows from panel to panel, and the smooth surfaces and it's clear that this car led an easy life and has been someone's favorite for a long time. The Bel Air's trademark feature, those lovely anodized aluminum panels in the quarters, are in good shape and carry correct Bel Air script on their faces. And while this is a resto-mod and not a strict restoration, it's nice to see that the restorer didn't go overboard with options as so often happens with these cars. It's just a clean, straight '57 that's easy to love. The fantastic red and black interior is the ideal match for the vintage-looking bodywork. It uses correct materials and patterns and while it's not crisp and perfect like a fresh restoration, it works rather well with the soft shine of the paint and gives the car an all-of-a-piece vibe. And speaking of simplicity, the steering wheel is from an earlier model, so it's plain, but the contrast is appealing and works well here. The auxiliary gauges in the dash have been replaced by modern dials, but the speedo is original, and there's a second set neatly hanging under the dash. A custom shifter for the 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission also carries a Sun tachometer, which is a cool way to add function without altering the factory look. They kept the stock AM radio in the dash, although it's probably due for an upgrade pretty soon. Open the trunk lid and you can see for yourself how clean and well-finished this car is, with solid quarters, a reproduction trunk mat, and a full-sized spare tire that's never been used. Thanks to generations of development, a modern 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 will slip right between the Bel Air's fenders and deliver roughly twice the horsepower of the original 283. The small block sports a Street Dominator intake and a 4-barrel carb, plus Edelbrock valve covers and a bright chrome air cleaner. No, it's not show quality, but it does run superbly and will be easy to maintain for years to come without so much as a second thought, and it's a ton of fun to drive. Stock manifolds feed a 2.5-inch dual exhaust system, so it's got a great soundtrack to go with its understated look and the overdrive transmission ensures that it never gets annoying on the highway. Underneath, it's fairly clean with a bunch of new parts, including the aforementioned exhaust system, a new gas tank, and recent coil-over shocks. And no resto-mod Chevy is complete without a set of Rallys with staggered 235/75/15 front and 255/70/15 rear Uniroyal radials. If you're looking for a fun '57 that doesn't demand a lot of fussing and can run with some pretty serious hardware, this Bel Air fits the bill. Why? Because their classic looks never go out of style, they're easy to modify and typically run and drive like modern cars, and a lot of folks grew up with fond memories of cars from the '50s. In fact, if I had to name the perfect hobby car, it might be something just like this. Two-tone paint jobs looked great in 1955 and still look fantastic today, a tribute to the quality of the Chevy's design. This car was treated to some high-quality work during its rejuvenation, but it respected the original design. That means no chopping, no cutting, no shaving, but plenty of attention paid to things like gaps and finish quality. It's the details on a car like this that make it stand out (well, that and the beautiful cobalt blue and white pearl paint), and when it catches your eye, there's nothing on it that will disappoint you. The doors fit well, the line around the trunk lid is even, and the brightly polished stainless side trim between the doors and quarter panels fits so exactly that it looks like one single piece. Sure, it has some signs of age and use (you'll note a Power Tour decal proudly displayed on its windows), but this car is still a favorite that will continue to attract attention for years to come Getting a car to look like this also requires a sizable commitment to the chrome shop, and all the brightwork is in exceptionally good shape, particularly the California 1-piece bumpers that are so highly sought by builders today. The interior was given a freshening at the same time, but it makes no pretense about being period-correct and is so much the better for it. Comfortable power buckets with tan upholstery look like they came from a high-end late model car, yet look right at home in the totally revamped '55 Bel Air interior. More custom handiwork shows in the matching door panels, which are a bit discolored but in otherwise good condition. Custom gauges fit neatly in the original dash, framed by a fat Grant GT steering wheel that's on a tilt steering column. Vents for the A/C system were neatly installed under the dash and there's an AM/FM/CD stereo system in the center. The nicely finished trunk offers more tricks, like the custom molded carpet and a spare tire cover that keeps things looking tidy. The engine is a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 with an Edelbrock carb and intake plus lots of chrome. Get your sunglasses, because this engine bay sparkles! Chrome in the usual places, some custom painted accessories, and an easy-access look make this a great highway cruiser. The real story is a little deeper, because this car was built atop a 1975 Chevrolet Chevelle frame, so it has an upgraded coil suspension and disc brakes. The 350 is backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, so it cruises effortlessly and the 10-bolt rear is rugged enough to eliminate breakage fears. Built for the road, the chassis is mostly satin black paint for easy maintenance and short-tube headers feed a custom Flowmaster exhaust system with oval tips just under the rear bumper. Chevy Rally wheels look right wearing beefy 215/65/15 front and 235/60/15 BFGoodrich radials all around, which give the car a bit of a rake. Just like all the others, this Bel Air won't last long. Someone will quickly realize that this is as good as motoring gets, a no-compromises cruiser that does everything well.
