1992, Chevrolet C3500/K3500 trucks were available with a "dually" option -- that is, they had four wheels in the rear instead of the traditional two. This wheel option did not change any of the trucks' mechanical specifications. Placing two tires on both ends of a single axle, however, almost doubles the weight-carrying capacity of that axle. Also, this configuration allows three properly-inflated tires to carry the full weight load temporarily if one of the four rear tires loses pressure or is flat. EngineIn 1992, all C/K 3500 truck models featured a 5.7-liter V8 engine. This engine had a bore of 4.00 inches, a stroke of 3.48 inches and a compression ratio of 8.6:1. It produced 190 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 300 ft-lbs. of torque at 2,400 rpm. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, but all could be outfitted with a four-speed automatic transmission .They were available with optional 6.2-liter V8 diesel or 7.4-liter V8 engines.Brakes and Suspension These trucks were outfitted with independent suspension in the front with an anti-roll bar and a live-axle rear suspension.
