With handsome good looks that are common to all the Advance Design pickups, it's instantly recognizable and has become one of the driving forces behind the surging popularity of vintage trucks. Simple is always better on these trucks, and the icy white paint job keeps it looking smooth without taking away from the old-school look. The 5-window cab is the one to own, with improved visibility and a bright, airy interior, and collectors always grab these first. Well finished, it's a nice blend of original panels and recent paint that was done not to stun judges at a car show, but to stand out in a crowd full of red and black and wildly painted pickups. It's got a great shine and there's obviously plenty of time invested in getting the bodywork straight, or else it was an ultra-clean original, or maybe both. The grille was painted to match and there's a simple bumper up front with a roll pan with LED taillights in back, and there's just the right amount of jewelry with chrome door handles and mirrors. The oak bed is refinished with stainless rub strips and a hidden fuel filler cap, and the contrast against the white paint is pretty sharp. Inside there's a pair of late-model bucket seats that are comfortable and supportive, and while it's important to realize that these vehicles were tools, the cloth and leather upholstery gives it an upscale look inside. The door panels are finished in a combination of painted steel that matches the body and tweed inserts that soften the interior somewhat. Gray carpets help with noise control and there's a full headliner overhead that makes it feel very finished. The steel dash is intact and full of big, round Auto Meter gauges that appear to have been specifically designed for this application. The rest of the dash has been smoothed for a clean look and a low-profile A/C system was tucked in underneath. The fat Grant steering wheel on a tilt column makes it easy to get comfortable at the wheel, so this truck is ideal for your next Power Tour. Power comes from a fresh 350 cubic inch Summit Racing crate motor, which is an easy fit in the 3100's engine bay. With the A/C system, there's a lot going on, but they still dressed it up with chrome valve covers and a matching air cleaner, and the work looks very OEM. There's a big aluminum radiator up front, a Holley carburetor on an Edelbrock intake manifold, and a serpentine belt drive system for the accessories. Long-tube headers feed a custom dual exhaust system that sounds just about right, and it's got both power steering and power disc brakes thanks to a Camaro subframe transplant. There's also a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, so it's a fantastic highway cruiser, and the 10-bolt rear end is happy to cooperate. The chassis hasn't been detailed for show, but it is solid with no issues rolls on painted steel wheels with staggered 205/70/15 front and 245/60/15 rear blackwalls that look right on a commercial vehicle. Ready to enjoy and still able to do a little work on the side, this Chevy is a great example of a segment of the hobby that will be seeing big gains in the coming years. The good news is that you can own this beautifully built 1953 Chevy 3100, not for $30,000 or $35,000, but quite a bit less. Basic white looks great on pickups, particularly vintage vehicles with lots of curves. The bright finish lets all those great '40s shapes stand out without making it look excessively modern, and it's a great background for logos on the door such as the "Hot Rod Madness" logo this one wears. With straight bodywork that's uncommon on old trucks, it gets a ton of attention on the street and a lot of folks fall in love at first sight. Sure, it's been driven, but who could resist? Today it's a great-looking example of a show-and-go pickup that's fully sorted and nicely turned out. Gaps are about what you got with a commercial vehicle of the period, and the beautiful wood bed gives it an upscale appeal that will make you think twice about returning it to service duty. That same bed also offers a custom rear roll pan with built-in license plate frame, a hand-lettered tailgate, and marker lights up high. A new front bumper, painted grille inserts, and running boards maintain the vintage look with just a subtle upgrade that gives it a custom look. Inside it's still basic and simple, but carries enough details to give it a purposeful and upscale look. The bench seat is from a late-model, offering a center armrest and comfortable cloth upholstery. A matching late-model steering wheel and matching tilt column make it easy to get comfortable. Big, round gauges remain in the dash giving a full view of the engine, including a tach and a fuel level gauge up high. Red carpets help control noise and heat and really brighten up the interior, and you get contrasting red window garnish moldings that are just the right touch. An AM/FM/cassette head unit fits in a neat Chevrolet panel in the center of the dash and it matches the polished glove box lid for an old-fashioned look. The engine is a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8, which is a big step up over the original Stovebolt Six that lived there in 1953.With a Holley carb and finned aluminum valve covers, it has a dressed-up look that doesn't upset its work-ready demeanor. Power steering and front disc brakes were added during the build, both of which came with the GM subframe that was grafted on. A TH350 3-speed automatic is rugged and reliable, giving this truck the ability to still haul some gear, and the rear end comes from a late-model Chevy S10 pickup with 3.08 gears inside. A dual exhaust system sounds racy and it's been fitted with tube-style shocks so the ride is a lot less truck-like than you'd expect from something of this vintage. Polished Billet Specialty wheels and staggered 195/65/15 front and 265/50/15 rear Goodyear radials give it the perfect stance. A cool old truck that's ready to enjoy immediately, offering proven reliability and a ton of potential. Enjoy it now, upgrade it along the way, and watch prices go up at the same time. Well, here's the answer to your question, a spectacular 1957 Chevy 3100 pickup with a modern suspension and drivetrain underneath, as well as a cabin full of luxury options. Talk about having your cake and eating it too! Painted handsome PPG Gunmetal Gray, Cameo pickups like this one were some of the first trucks that were actually styled by designers rather than merely engineered. As a result, they carry a lot of automotive-inspired design cues, and if you see a little bit of Shoebox Chevy in the design, the coincidence is purely intentional. Of course, the fact that this one was finished to show standards certainly helps, and there's not a ripple, dent, pockmark, or dent anywhere on the beautiful surface of this truck. The paint is about a mile deep, and has been rubbed and buffed to a mirror-like shine. Enhancing the upscale look is a beautifully finished oak bed with polished stainless strips that tie in with the bright chrome bumpers and brilliantly restored grille. None of the original sheetmetal was modified, although a few emblems were shaved, and that should tell you something about how right the original design really was. It also features a smooth tailgate with Bowtie emblem and a custom rear roll pan, finishing a very clean look. Black is the dominant theme inside, with the original bench seat upholstered in black vinyl with gray cloth inserts and offering all-day comfort. Plain steel door panels were covered in matching black paint, a look that extends to the dash as well. The instrument panel uses a set of Auto MEter gauges in the original V-shaped housing, and A/C vents have been cleanly fitted to the custom center console. That same console also houses the HVAC controls, a pair of cup holders, as well as the AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the dash with speakers scattered throughout the cab. A tilt steering column houses a beefy 3-spoke steering wheel that is exactly appropriate for the truck's personality. Underneath that beautiful gunmetal gray sheetmetal, you'll find a very clean-looking chassis. Up front there's a small block Chevy 350 cubic inch V8 motor that looks ready to enjoy. Instead of flash, you get function and reliability, along with easy serviceability, plus plenty of horsepower thanks to a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, aluminum heads, a big "mother thumper" camshaft, and ceramic-coated long-tube headers. Power steering and power disc brakes, compliments of a Camaro subframe swap, make this truck a pleasure to drive. A 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission clicks through the gears, feeding a Ford 8.8 rear hanging on a set of stout leaf springs that mean this truck can still work for a living. There's a disc brake at each corner and a 2.5-inch dual exhaust system gives it just a little bit of rumble, but it doesn't intrude, making this truck an easy long-distance hauler. A custom fuel cell under the bed is just about the only part that doesn't look OEM, and polished Torque Thrust wheels wear Toyo Proxes rubber. This is a no-compromises truck built to very high standards, and you'll be proud to call it your own. A 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission clicks through the gears, feeding a GM 10-bolt rear hanging on a set of stout leaf springs that mean this truck can still work for a living. The simple fact is, these trucks just don't last long on the showroom floor, and the zooming prices and our inability to keep them in stock despite that fact suggests that they are very desirable collectables. They're also pretty darned good trucks. Hunter Green really dresses up the working-class 3100, and I'm guessing that very few of these trucks looked this bright when they were new. But who's complaining? This pickup looks fantastic! The paint isn't perfect, but it sure looks right on the curvy old truck sheetmetal, all of which is steel and in excellent shape. The bed is correctly restored and painted body color, and while it shows some signs of use, what's the point of having a pickup if you don't haul stuff with it? The stake sides are a nice touch, adding functionality and a bit of contrast that works especially well with the cream-colored wheels. A 1-piece windshield was a big innovation for a pickup truck back then, and most of the chrome, including the bumpers and grille, are new so they are in excellent condition. The brown interior is a very pleasant surprise when you open the door. Replicating a popular period look, it's handsome yet functional without looking stripped down. A tan dashboard, matching tan door panels and window frames, plus the brown vinyl seat cover give this basic pickup truck a comfortable feel from behind the wheel. The instrument panel itself is full of round gauges that look great and show off big, easy-to-read numbers that were surely a welcome sight at the end of a long day. It's mostly original, so the chrome has some patina and the steering wheel is showing its age, but nothing that looks out of place in a vintage hauler like this. Aftermarket turn signals are a smart safety upgrade and work in the usual fashion with a column-mounted lever, although you'll have to remind yourself to turn it off after the first few times you drive for 8 miles while signaling a left turn. Chevy's robust 235 cubic inch inline-six was at the pinnacle of its development in 1955, with full pressure lubrication and increased compression for surprisingly lively performance. This one, however, shows a lot of recent work and some vintage speed parts like the vintage Fenton intake with dual carburetors, split Fenton exhaust manifolds with true dual exhaust, and a beautiful Offenhauser valve cover on top. Correct Chevrolet Blue paint on the engine itself reminds you (intentionally) of the Blue Flame Six found in the Corvette, and its happy, distinctive exhaust note will be a friendly companion on any drive you take thanks to glasspack-style mufflers underneath (there are also electric cut-outs if you want to run wide-open). The 3-speed manual transmission and rear end are original and rugged enough to handle the added horsepower, and the rest of the undercarriage looks solid, clean, and ready for another 60 years of work. Wide whitewalls on contrasting off-white wheels with hubcaps and trim rings make this little hauler really stand out. They aren't all this nice, but these Chevy pickups never last long here in the showroom. Don't miss this one, too, call today! 1955 Chevrolet 3100 for Sale 1955 Chevrolet 3100 for Sale Stock # 2424-ATL Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. This bright red 1955 Chevy 3100 has that classic look and adds some V8 power and an updated interior to combine what is arguably the best-looking truck of the period with modern conveniences that make it a pleasure to drive today. Bright red always works on old pickups, but this isn't some faded old farm truck. No, this one seems to have led a pretty good life showing off its crisp, clean lines and a coat of shiny, but not perfect paint that is only a few years old. It's easy to see why these trucks were a hit, with the forward-canted fenders that make it look fast even sitting still (not that pickup trucks needed to be fast in 1955, but it's still a great look) and a handsome egg crate grille that linked Chevy's truck line with their automotive offerings. The crease that runs from the headlights to the back of the cab and is picked up again in the rear fenders is sharp and well-defined and we especially like the utilitarian look of the side-mounted spare tire. As is customary with a vintage pickup, the bed has been beautifully finished with what appear to be pine boards and body-colored rub strips to tie it all together. Chrome bumpers look substantial and have been polished up and the original taillights have been replaced by '39 Ford units with blue-dot lenses for a bit of a custom twist. With Camaro bucket seats, a center console, and a revised dashboard, it sure doesn't feel like 1955 inside. The gray upholstery and matching details are neutral enough to work anywhere and the whole thing has a very complete, well-thought-out look. Gray carpets help control noise and are a big improvement over the original rubber mat and the doors were cleverly painted gray to help with the illusion. It's fitted with a polished tilt column and a woodgrained steering wheel, so it feels quite modern from the driver's seat. Beautiful vintage-looking gauges monitor all the vitals and look like they belong there with their period lettering and off-white faces. There's also a clever AM/FM/iPod stereo in the original radio's location, so the dash was not cut or modified to accommodate it. And this is what is referred to as a "big window" cab thanks to its wrap-around rear glass that makes it feel bright and airy inside. You could get a V8 in your 1955 Chevy, but the 350 cubic incher that's in there now is a lot more powerful than anything they were building back then. It is, however, dressed pretty faithfully with Chevy Orange on the block and an air cleaner from a 1955 Cadillac, which is a popular period modification. An Edelbrock intake manifold and matching 4-barrel carburetor help build power and the tubular headers feed a set of glasspack-style mufflers that give this old Chevy a fantastic sound. A TH350 3-speed automatic powers a 10-bolt rear end with 3.42 gears inside, so it's a good highway cruiser that still feels quick around town. The suspension is largely stock, but that's not really a bad thing, and power front disc brakes were added to help with safety. Traditional Cragar mags with Mickey Thompson radials add an aggressive look and an ideal stance. Look around and you won't find a whole lot of these trucks finished to this level and still priced affordably. Popularity is increasing, so make this one yours by calling today! 1955 Chevrolet 3100 for Sale 1955 Chevrolet 3100 for Sale Stock # 2252-ATL Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Mon - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Mon - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Mon - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. This 1958 Chevrolet Cameo pickup has just the right combination of patina and glamor, plus a 283 cubic inch V8, all of which prove the point that looks matter. A bright red pickup truck with stake sides and some vintage-looking signage is perhaps the most American thing I can imagine. This is not a perfect show truck, but rather a pickup that can go places with you, just in case you need to actually haul something. Going to Home Depot? Perfect! The garden center? Buy whatever you need! The bright red paint has a soft shine that makes it look like this truck has earned its living honestly, and the Cameo's smooth bed sides with white insert gives it a flashy look that probably fit right in with the other bow-ties in the showroom. The white roof with matching visor helps with that old-timey look and the warm wood bed sides are a charming addition. The bed is correctly finished with black painted wood planks, not an ornately finished oak dance floor, so no worries about putting it to work. And while you're back there, check out the beautiful taillights that were a big part of the Cameo's skillful blending of car and truck styling. The bright red and white interior also shows that designers were trying to bring a few automotive details over to the truck lineup. The patterned upholstery has a very 1950s look to it and shows minimal wear since the restoration was finished. Black floor coverings shrug off whatever you might have on your boots and clean up easily, while the two-tone door panels soften things a bit. The instrument panel should look familiar to Chevy fans, with a V-shaped speedometer that is remarkably similar to the gauge panel found in the '57 Bel Air. Three-on-the-tree shifting is light and easy once you've mastered the action and there's an AM radio and heater in the dash, both of which were still optional, even on the high-end Cameo. There's also a rather novel fuel efficiency gauge that lets you try to maximize your mileage, which should matter as much today as it did 56 years ago. A 283 cubic inch V8 is a welcome bit of horsepower after decades of six-cylinder power only, and the 2-barrel V8 is torquey enough to be the ideal truck powerplant. Wearing Chevy Orange paint, it has a working-class look that means you won't sweat the small stuff, but original equipment like the oil bath air cleaner and generator mean that you still get the old-fashioned experience when you drive it. There's new wiring for safety and with overdrive, it's a competent cruiser that never gets in anyone's way. The suspension is bade up of rigid axles front and rear, so it still rides like a truck, and the 10-bolt rear axle offers a more street-friendly ratio than the original stump-puller. A pair of glasspack-style mufflers add a snarky exhaust note that's a tradition all by itself, and with 235/75/15 BF Goodrich whitewall radials on painted steel wheels, it cuts a dashing profile. If you haven't noticed, prices on the Cameo pickups are skyrocketing, and this might be your last chance to get one before they're all out of sight. This is a very good truck that's still eminently usable.
