It had a new "wrap-around" windshield (a truck industry first) and optional wrap-around rear window on Deluxe cabs. Power steering and power brakes were now available for the first time on GM trucks. Electrical system was upgraded to 12 volts. Fenders had single headlights. For 1956, the truck had a wider hood emblem and two-piece fender emblems were now mounted above horizontal fender line. The restoration had barely been started when he bought it. It was taken down to bare metal, had no interior, no drivetrain or glass. He bought it 'as-is', shipped it up to New York and started the restoration you see today. He went above and beyond! He was very fussy about wiring and made sure that it was properly routed out of site to keep a clean engine bay. The bed was custom made from cherry wood that came from his yard. He had it planed and routed for the bed and the wood accents you see on the running boards and the interior arm rest. The truck was completed about five years ago and has only driven on very nice days. It was kept year round in a heated garage.
