I am selling this car because I recently was given a Jaguar after a recent death in the family. This car drives great and is really fun. I recently put over $1200 in this car at the end of this summer (new clutch and catalytic converter), and about $2500 over the last 18 months. 5 speed manual transmission. It recently passed California smog in summer of 2016 and current tags. Relatively new radiator and relatively recent break work. The main things that remains to be done would be cosmetic. Thus best part: engine; worst part dash cover and head area interior. The interior needs to be redone especially the top interior and the dash board (top dash is removed so I could put in new front speakers and I was thinking on having that piece refurbished and have not reattached so that buyer could look at speaker etc.) Another quirk is that the rear reverse lights don't turn on (so I use hazards when I back into a space). Car's idle is a little low but that is a quick cheap fix. There is no horn and horn cover is just electronic taped on. And occasionally the speedometer goes a little off once a month or so but it then fixes itself. Also the ignition lock off so car starts with or without a key (recommend having steering wheel lock like The Club). . Front seat beat defective but looks ok when wearing from outside. Some carpet stain. Top interior rips. Small hole in front seat cover and some other wear in the interior in general. Needs new paint job but not significant rust or body injury (some small scuff on side). Tinted rear window and removable Ttops. Car runs fine sounds great and is fun to ride. Lock on back cubby area broke. Nice Alpine sirusxm abilities with recent front speakers Pioneer, music sounds great. As well as some other brand back speaker, large amp and base w cover. Buyer will need to deposit $500 initially and pay the remainder of cash at or prior to pickup. In short the engine is good to very good, the outside is good but needs at least a partial paint job and clear coat or if you don't like the custom paint job then total paint job and the interior in general needs to be redone in whole or in part. Odometer says 64,299 (but not guaranteeing, prior seller said he had engine rebuilt at some point check CarFax with VIN number if want further information). Serious buyers bid only please. This truck was built on September 30, 1971 and sold by Sunset Ford, Westminster, Ca. on November 13, 1971. Custom metal work on the hood, cab, bed, and tailgate. The front grill has custom metal inserts, which are removable. It's a 390 V8 with 15,000 miles on it since being rebuilt at United Engine Rebuilding in Bell, California. The engine was rebuilt at 123,251 miles. This truck has been driven very little since, mostly parked with camper on the back. The carb, which is a 2bbl has been rebuilt and a new mechanical fuel pump was installed this month. The car starts, runs, drives, and stops. It is an automatic with a Cruise-O-Matic 3 speed transmission, power front disc brakes with rear drum brakes on 16 inch rims and a new power brake booster. NEW windshield with tinted glass, am/fm stereo with coaxial speakers in the doors, New black vinyl seat cover and arm rests, the dash has been covered with a faux rust surround. The vehicle has air conditioning mounted along the lower edge of the dash, but is not working, but compressor and belt is there. You will have to convert the Freon. A new FLOWMASTER muffler and a 2 1/2 inch exhaust pipe exiting in front of the passenger rear wheel was installed for a bit more attitude and there seems to be a slight leak from the manifold. It's my daily driver. If I were to keep the truck I would switch to an electronic ignition and add an electric choke to the carburetor, and repair the air conditioning. This truck starts, runs, drives and stops and gets "thumbs-up" at the traffic lights and passing traffic. Fun to drive and by the way, the metal panel over the rear sliding window is removable. The sliding window is fair condition and the mechanical mechanism that raises and lowers the passenger door window needs to be repaired or replaced. BODY CONDITION:, Pretty much like original. We purchased this vehicle in Lake Forest IL in 1991 and drove it to Santa Barbara CA in 1992. It was a garaged third car and has had no exposure to snow, very little exposure to rain. There were few minor scrapes, but no accidents, and the paint is the sought-after Eastnor green, beautiful, glossy, throughout--virtually no dings or scratches, this car was always parked in end spots away from any threat of a door ding. Where there were repairs, we always retained the top talent in body shop selection. INTERIOR: The tan leather seating is pretty much as new, with slightly more wear on edge of driver seat, but no wear through or tears. the console and dashboard is all as new. The (real) wood trim is beautiful. The headliner has never been touched and is fine. The rear storage area is pretty much as new. The automatic seats and sunroof operate as new. gear readout at base of shift knob is a little off, but no problem. MECHANICAL We have retained all records since new (even from before we bought it) and they are organized and available buy email. We purchased a 100000 mile extended warrantee when the car had 26898 miles on it. A condition of the warrantee was that all factory services and inspections must have been complied with. As a result, the preventative maintenance program was by the book, the warrantee paid for many things, and we could afford to pay the rest. There were little repairs and services, but the important repair at 125839 miles was blown cylinder head gasket. As a result the cooling system was polluted and was overhauled/replaced. While they had the heads off, they did a valve job and other related updates. So the car now has 167590 miles and is runs mechanically like a car with 40000 miles on it, as it did when it was new. We have heard horror stories regarding mechanical problems and costs of this type vehicle, but we have not suffered those. 98% of repairs and inspections were done by authorized Range Rover dealers. The only flaws now that we are aware of are a blinking coolant light and blinking EFI light. We have continued to drive it with those indicators for several years, as it runs perfectly. When the EFI was analyzed by the RR dealer, they could pull up no faults. I know the coolant is OK, as other than normal evaporation, it stays filled to the top, and the engine does not overheat. In 2006, we bought a new RR and decided to keep this one, as we loved it. We drove it from Santa Barbara to Ephraim WI, where we had a summer residence. We left it there for our use when visiting, and stored it inside the rest of the year. This year we decided to stop our WI visits, so shipped the car back to SB 3 weeks ago. In the last 10 years, the total mileage, including the 2500 mile road trip was approximately 13000 miles--about 1000 mile per year. We have loved this car, it served us well, but we no longer have the garage space in SB that it needs. We are happy to answer any questions. This is a very special automobile, truly a classic.
