I am trying to sell my 1997 Firebird Formula. It has roughly 146,500 miles on it. I bought it always 2 years ago. I am selling it as it does need work, and I do not want to put the money into the car. Since I purchased the car I changed the exhaust (nice and loud) fixed the power windows and locks. I also recently had new keys made for the car. I was getting a security error code, but this issue hasn't occurred since I had it fixed in the winter. I am looking only to sell in person, cash deal. Sorry, no checks or money orders. The car can be driven, but with the issues I would recommend towing it just to be safe. It does start up and drive. I drove it home from the mechanic after an oil change and estimate on the other issues. Some good things about the car- T Tops, Automatic, Power Windows/Locks, 2 Keys, CD Player w/ Ipod connection. Aftermarket Sub and Amp. The issues with the car, it does have a few. The reason I took it into the shop was to see why the car would over heat after driving around and starting it up again. (I would drive to Target ok, but on the way home it would start to over heat). The following things are what they quoted me need to be repaired. Roughly $1500 in parts, $1500 in labor I believe. ******************************************************* ***Replace Serpentine Belt Tensioner *** Transmission Oil Pan Gasket and or Filer, ATP Filer kit *** Replace Rear Brake Pads and Rotors *** Valve Cover Gasket, Manifold Gasket Set, Valve CVR Gasket Set *** Timing over Gasket Set, Oil Pan Gasket Set *** Coolant Temperature Sensor ---------------------- Some other issues with the car, the Drivers T-Top leaks slightly right where your left knee generally sits. It usually only bothers me after it has rained, not while it is raining. The dashboard has a few big cracks on it. If you floor it, the transmission seems to slip, I just don't push it hard. It seems like it only does this in first gear, once it changes I haven't had it kick at me when cruising. The stereo will also cut in and out. I think its just a loose wire, but Im not really sure. The check engine light has been on since I bought the car as well. There is a circle on the back almost a burn mark. I walked outside to my car one morning with a substance on it that caused this issue. I am selling this car AS IS, No Warranty written or Implied.
