It was one of the first American front-wheel drive vehicles to be returned to rear-wheel drive. At 225 inches (5,700 mm) overall, the Fleetwood was the longest production car made in the United States until production ceased on December 13, 1996.[12] All Fleetwoods had standard antilock brakes, traction control and dual front airbags. In 1994, Cadillac used the Corvette-derived LT1[13] 350 cu in (5.7 L) engine to make 260 horsepower (190 kW) along with the new 4L60E automatic transmission.[11] Between 1993 and 1996, the Fleetwood Commercial chassis was used in lieu of the DeVille for funeral coaches and limousines. The DeVille was used again in 1997.The Cadillac Fleetwood was retired by General Motors in August 1996 to make way for Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe production. Another reason was that Cadillac already had two large sedans in its lineup — the DeVilleand the Seville, so no direct replacement was needed.[citation needed]PackagesEditThe Brougham option package included a full vinyl top, sail panel badging, specific seat design with six-way driver's seat memory and heated and three-position lumbar front seats, instrument panel badging and rear seat storage armrest. The 7,000 lb (3,200 kg) trailer towing package was made available 1993, something not seen in a production sedan since the 1971–1976 Cadillac Sixty Special[citation needed]. The RPO V4P package included heavy duty cooling (RPO V08, which consisted of a seven-blade mechanical fan and an extra capacity radiator), RPO FE2 Suspension System Ride Handling, HD 4L60 transmission, RPO KC4 Cooling System Engine Oil, RPO KD1 Cooling System Transmission Oil, RPO KG9 140 amp alternator, and RPO GT4 3.73 gears with an 8.5-inch ring gear. In 1994–1996, the V4P package was revised with RPO GU6 3.42 gears with the new more powerful RPO LT1 260 horsepower (190 kW) V8, and HD 4L60E transmission with unique accumulators to shift smoother with the shorter rear axle gearing.Transmissions:1993 4L601994–1996 4L60EEnginesDisplacementPowerTorque350 cu in (5.7 L) L05 V8185 hp (138 kW)304 lb·ft (412 N·m)350 cu in (5.7 L) LT1 V8260 hp (190 kW)330 lb·ft (450 N·m)Production Figures[14]YearUnits199331,773199427,473199516,180199615,109Total Production = 90,535 APPEARANCE: The Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham looks like what it is: the ultimate evolution of the traditional Cadillac. It is big and boxy, nearly nineteen feet long and six-and-a-half feet wide. There is no "Euro-style" lack of brightwork on the car. The massive egg-crate grille and bumpers are heavily chromed. Bright trim surrounds the windows and lights, and highlights the massive sides of the car. The upholstered roof, stainless steel-trimmed lower body panels, and whitewall tires add to the traditional appearance of the Brougham.COMFORT: The interior of the Fleetwood Brougham is every bit as traditional as the exterior. There are few sedans made that have more interior space. Front and rear shoulder room is well over five feet. The softly-padded bench seats are opulently upholstered with leather. The front seats have integral heating elements and adjustable lumbar support. Each side of the front seat is separately adjustable, and there is a new center armrest with dual cupholders, CD and cassette storage, and space for a cellular phone. The door panels and dashboard are finished with padded leather and wood trim. Naturally, seats, windows, door locks, and mirrors are power-operated. The six-speaker Delco AM/FM/cassette sound system is new this year, and has an optional CD player or changer.SAFETY: The Fleetwood Brougham is equipped with both antilock brakes and traction control as standard safety equipment. Both the driver and front passenger have an airbag. Daytime running lights are new for 1996.ROADABILITY: On the road the Fleetwood Brougham is most definitely an American luxury car. No firm European sports suspension here. The ride is very soft, and occupants are well-insulated from the outside world. Speed-sensitive power steering makes the Brougham easy to maneuver. In a great improvement over the large Cadillacs of yesteryear, the spring and shock absorber rates are correctly matched on the new Fleetwood so that there is no excessive motion when quickly changing lanes or when traveling on poorly-maintained roads. Good sound insulation and low levels of wind noise make the inside of the Brougham luxuriously quiet. It epitomizes the classic American large luxury car.PERFORMANCE: With General Motors' 5.7-liter V8 under the hood, the Fleetwood Brougham is not underpowered. This 260-horsepower engine is as venerable and classic as the Fleetwood itself, and is a close relative to the engine found in the Chevrolet Corvette. There is plenty of power for hills, passing, merging, or full loads, and fuel economy is surprisingly good. The 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission shifts smoothly and quickly. A trailer towing package is available. It gives the Fleetwood the ability to tow trailers weighing up to 7,000 pounds, a higher rating than many sport-utility vehicles.CONCLUSIONS: The end of an era is approaching. When production of the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham ends at the end of the 1996 model year, the traditional big Cadillac will be extinct. The highways of America won't be the same.SPECIFICATIONS:1996 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAMBase Price $ 36,995Price As Tested $ 40,512 Engine Type V-8, ohv, pushrod, 16 valve, spfiEngine Size 5.7 liter/350 cid This car is a perfect original Masterpiece, and is said to be by car enthusiasts, "the best cadillac ever made"If you really know your Cadillacs, you wouldn't let this one get away ;) Call if you have any questions about this car! 516-818-3789 Check out my other items!

No extra fees in my auction! 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham with only 115k miles. EVERYTHING WORKS! 1994 is the first year for the LT1 (Corvette) 350 Cubic Inch 5.7 liter V-8 to be installed to these. This motor is running just as it should be with lots of power and 26mpg on the highway! This car has traction control and anti lock brakes!! This car is a non smoker car. I just put 4 brand new whitewall tires on the excellent condition factory Brougham wheels. The car rides so smooth!!! The transmission shifts perfectly! Every gear shifts like factory new. The brakes are NEW! I put new rotors on the front with new ceramic pads. Also new wheel bearings, seal, and new caliper pins and bushings. The rear shoes are as new. The brakes stop the car smooth and precise. The exhaust system is a factory dual exhaust that is in very nice condition. No exhaust manifold leaks on this beauty. The car is a nice condition car that has ice cold air conditioning, great cruise control, heated seats (they are so weak) and lumbar that is excellent. The battery is strong and will not drain or draw over time. The car has all of the factory floor mats, the trunk mat, the trunk net and I even have books for it. The car has power seats in the front with memory settings. The car has tilt wheel, power windows that all work, power locks that all work, keyless entry that works. Ooops. The trunk pull down is not pulling down but it is in the down position so you just close it regular. The digital dash is clear and there are no trouble lights. The factory radio works very nice and the power antenna works properly. The lights, horn, emergency brake, wipers, indicator lights on the fenders work, automatic tinting mirror works. The rear bumper has great shine with no rust bubbles. The car is georgeous with all of the chrome on the white body with the full white top! I redid the rear top trim strips and put new clips so it holds for years. The chip in the key is there but the system is deactivated so it won't fail and leave you somewhere (common over the years to not work leaving you stuck). The car really runs and drives excellent. There are some flaws of course but overall the car is a beauty! It's a really nice car that is ready to go for years. They are the last of the large Roadmaster, Caprice Fleetwood B and D body cars!! Sad to see them become so scarce but they are a bit collectible now. Buy it and you will see why! There's nothing like it. You are in a 20 year old car with lots of power, air bags, anti lock brakes, traction control and it feels like a nice old school classic! I have a clean clear title in hand ready to transfer. I put over 1,000 miles on this car just before the new tires and brakes and it was flawless. Very dependable and reliable. So nice to drive.
