Spawned from one of General Motors' most conservative divisions, it built a fast reputation as one of the meanest and most revered offerings of the muscle car era. And when you take a close look at a gem like this Joe Castriganorestored convertible, you'll understand exactly why. 1 of only 67 Stage 1 4-speed drop-tops produced for the 1970 model year, it's an inherently scarce car. Naturally, it wraps a highly accurate restoration around a numbers-matching drivetrain. And, when you add in the fact that it's fully authenticated by official Sloan Museum Documentation, you get one incredible, investment grade classic that's almost guaranteed to appreciate. If you're looking for some old school muscle car attitude, but want something that's unique enough to make even the most jaded gearheads take notice, THIS is the car for you! BODYWORK/TRIM Born with classic good looks, this Buick's current condition comes courtesy of a complete, ground-up restoration that was conducted by well-known Buick aficionado Joe Castrigano. That professional reboot began with a complete strip of what was likely a very solid body. With its metal clean and fully prepped, the car's smooth fuselage was carefully sprayed in a correct layer of code 48 Sherwood Green 2-stage. And the result is one arrow-straight classic that displays a super-reflective finish, possesses very few imperfections and presents as a stunning muscle car that literally embodies the term 'crowd-gathering appeal'. By 1970, Buick had pretty much perfected its top dog performance offerings both mechanically and aesthetically. At the front of the car, a clean grille hangs a bold GS emblem between a broad bumper, chrome-trimmed headlights and clear parking lamps. Behind that grille, a scooped hood hides correctly recessed wipers at the base of factory-tint glass, polished stainless trim and correct White vinyl. At the sides of that hood, traditional door handles and tri-shield stamped mirrors perfectly complement tight wheel frames, red-trimmed rocker guards and fresh GS Stage 1 ornamentation. And at the back of the car, a second broad bumper centers a classy "BUICK" script between clear tail lamps, correct deck trim and a fourth "GS" emblem. ENGINE While the exterior of this slick A-Body does an excellent job of upholding GM Design's world-class visual aesthetics, the engine compartment is where purists REALLY start to take notice. And for good reason too, because the 455 cubic inch Stage 1 V8 that's bolted between the car's freshly detailed fenders is the kind of killer powerhouse that makes people either put up or shut up. Turn the key and a big Quadrajet carburetor mixes air from a black, dual-snorkel cleaner with fuel that's supplied by carefully bent stainless, and shoves it into a correct, cast iron intake. That intake feeds cast iron heads, which ride between a familiar points distributor and fresh Packard TV R Suppression cables. Spent gases are jetted through correct, cast iron manifolds, which ride under polished and decaled valve covers. And a correct, heavy-duty radiator utilizes pliable GM hoses and reproduction tower clamps to provide ample cooling. The bright red block looks fantastic, framed in Satin Black fenders and dressed in an array of correct marks and decals. Correct ancillary components, like an authentic Delco Moraine brake booster, a Saginaw steering box and a high quality Delco battery topper, prove that someone really sweated the details during this Buick's top-notch restoration. And naturally, the monster mill displays a correct 1231738 casting number behind a correct "SS" assembly stamp and matching partial VIN. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Under this Buick, it's just as the factory planned, except with much more precision and, subsequently, much more appeal. An original Muncie 4-speed hangs a matching partial VIN between a correct 3925661 casting number and 1970 (0) Muncie (P) M21 (B) assembled on November (S) 12th (12), 1969 build stamp. That stalwart gearbox jerks a correct 10-bolt axle, which is finished with mild, highway-friendly gears. Holding that killer drivetrain off the ground is a tagged Rallye Ride Control Suspension, which pairs factory power steering with better springs, better shocks, a thicker front sway bar, a standard rear sway bar and boxed rear control arms. During restoration, the car's massive, power-assisted drums were completely rebuilt to factory specifications. On the outside of those brakes, chrome Buick Rallyes twist G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs around red, white and blue center caps. The aforementioned manifolds dump spent gases in to aluminized pipes, which make excellent use of throaty turbo mufflers. The car's frame, free of any major damage, is painted black to match its solid, undercoated floors. And, in keeping with the 455 up top, much attention has been paid to making sure everything under this classic is clean and ready to roll! INTERIOR Pop the sculpted doors and you'll find a correct code 158 Black interior that's still restoration-fresh in virtually every way. Comfy bench seats complement stylish, "GS" branded door panels. In front of those thrones, a straight dash hangs upgraded telemetry above a retrofitted AM/FM radio. At the base of that dash, like-new carpet floats heavy duty, shield-branded floor mats at the sides of a familiar Hurst shifter. The driver stays connected to the road thanks to a correct Buick Rallye Wheel. And, behind the passengers, a black convertible cowl snaps tight over a restored trunk that's complete with a fresh mat, a correct jack, a full-size spare tire and a new decklid decal. HISTORICAL INFORMATION Since the sale of this awesome Buick includes Sloan Museum Documentation, there's really no question about the authenticity of its restoration. But, for good measure, here's a look at the car's specially coded VIN and cowl tag. The idea was as simple then as it is today: appeal to a younger clientele to ensure the continued survival of the company. Well, whoever checked the options sheet for this awesome 1970 survivor certainly wasn't typical 'doctor's car' clientele. Its original, 455 cubic inch Stage 1 V8 was a go-to heavyweight for both stoplight brawlers and drag strip warriors. Its original Muncie 4-speed is as spirited as it is reliable. And its rare H1 trailer towing option means that someone was certainly thinking outside the box. Maybe that sort of enthusiasm is also why the car has been immaculately maintained for 45 years and, subsequently, was certified Gold by the Buick GS Club of America. If you're in the market for a top-notch example of one of the coolest Buicks ever produced, this national award winner is just the car you've been looking for! BODYWORK/TRIM Known throughout the Buick world as the 'trailer hitch GS455', this super clean Stage 1 features a solid body that conveys a sense of integrity perfectly befitting its parent division. Consistently providing its various owners with a great combination of rock-solid reliability and full-throttle comfort, that body has never been separated from its chassis. Fittingly, a smooth coat of original Diplomat Blue paint reflects an original vinyl roof. And presently, this Buick's desirability as something that's as rare as it is unique is both genuine and fitting. By 1970, Buick had pretty much perfected its top dog performance offerings both mechanically and aesthetically. At the front of the car, a clean, silver-trimmed grille hangs a bold GS emblem between a broad bumper, chrome-trimmed headlights and clear parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a scooped hood leads the eye to factory-tint glass, which is sealed behind tri-shield mirrors, traditional door handles and polished stainless trim. At the base of that glass, correct door guards and correct door edging perfectly complement straight wheel frames, red-trimmed rocker plates and classy GS Stage 1 ornamentation. And for good reason too, because the 455 cubic inch Stage 1 V8 that's bolted between the car's rust-free fenders is the kind of killer powerhouse that makes people either put up or shut up. Turn the key and a big Quadrajet carburetor mixes air from a black, dual-snorkel cleaner with fuel that's supplied by carefully bent stainless, and shoves it into a correct, cast iron intake. That intake feeds cast iron heads, which ride between a familiar points distributor and high quality Taylor plug wires. Spent gases are jetted through correct, cast iron manifolds, which ride under traditional chrome valve covers. And a correct, heavy-duty radiator, which circulates water around an old school Frigidaire AC compressor via pliable GM hoses and reproduction tower clamps, provides ample cooling. The red-dipped block looks surprisingly clean, dressed in an array of vintage decals and framed in requisite GM Satin Black. Correct ancillaries, like a rebuilt Delco Moraine brake booster, a Saginaw steering box and a reproduction Delco battery, prove someone has put a lot of thought into keeping this all-GM Buick all GM. And naturally, the monster mill centers a correct 1231738 casting number behind a correct "SS" assembly stamp and matching partial VIN. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Under this Buick, it's just as the factory planned, with solid, undercoated floors living a functional, unglamorous existence. An original Muncie 4-speed hangs a matching partial VIN between a correct 3925661 casting number and Muncie (P) M21 (B) assembled on March 18th (18), 1970 (0) build stamp. That stalwart gearbox jerks a correct 10-bolt axle, which is finished with a correct posi-traction differential and correct, 3.42 gears. Holding that killer drivetrain off the ground is a familiar Rallye Ride Control Suspension, which pairs factory power steering with better springs, better shocks, a thicker front sway bar, a standard rear sway bar and boxed rear control arms. The car's optional power front disc and rear drum brakes are present and accounted for. On the outside of those brakes, chrome Buick Rallyes twist G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs around red, white and blue center caps. And the aforementioned manifolds dump spent gases in to aluminized pipes, which make excellent use of throaty turbo mufflers. INTERIOR Pop the sculpted doors and you'll find a correct code 188 Black interior that's still factory-fresh in virtually every way. Comfy seats and fade-free door panels continue the rich feeling of the car's royal Diplomat Blue exterior. In front of those seats, an original dash frames a correct AM/FM radio, controls for the aforementioned air conditioning and clear telemetry that includes a correct tachometer. At the base of that dash, correct consolettes highlight classy Buick ornamentation and a familiar Hurst shifter. At the base of that console, heavy duty, shield-branded floor mats protect color-keyed carpet. Opposite that carpet, a tight headliner frames a correctly lit mirror. The driver keeps tabs on the road through a retro Buick steering wheel. And the passengers stash their luggage beside a full-size spare tire in the car's clean trunk. First and foremost, they want something that's super cool. Secondly, they want something that's reliable. And last but not least, they want something that doesn't require a second job to finance. Fortunately, the gearheads at RK Motors Charlotte pride themselves on specializing in first-rate classics of all kinds. And they always have cars, like this awesome 1970 Buick GS455, that are a perfect fit for anyone. Sporting an original 455, an original Turbo-Hydramatic 400 and fantastic white on green aesthetics, this sublime drop-top is certainly some of the coolest metal to ever roll out of Detroit. Thanks to a high quality restoration, the car can be driven and enjoyed for years without worry. And as a fully documented, numbers-matching classic that's priced at only $80K, it's a solid deal on some impressive muscle! BODYWORK/TRIM Decked in retro Seamist Green single-stage, this awesome Buick rolled off GM's Fremont, California assembly line during the first week of March, 1969 and headed straight for Hawaii. After 37 years serving just two owners, the car was shipped back to the mainland in need of minor repair. And, when it fell into the hands of a third owner, it became the focal point of a detailed, 5-year restoration that wrapped in the summer of 2014. During that thorough reboot, straight and solid sheetmetal was worked to better-than-new condition. Fresh Seamist Green 2-stage was topped with correct White vinyl. And presently, this GS rolls as a rare and unique classic that's exactly the kind of all-business, no-nonsense muscle car Buick always intended it to be. By 1970, Buick had pretty much perfected its top dog performance offerings both mechanically and aesthetically. At the front of the car, a clean, silver grille hangs a bold GS emblem between a re-chromed bumper, chrome-trimmed headlights and clear parking lamps. Behind that grille, a scooped hood hides correctly recessed wipers at the base of factory tint glass and original stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, traditional door handles and color-keyed sport mirrors perfectly complement fresh wheel frames, red-trimmed rocker guards and fresh GS ornamentation. And at the back of the car, a second re-chromed bumper centers a classy "BUICK" script between clear tail lamps, correct deck trim and a fourth "GS" emblem. ENGINE While the exterior of this slick A-Body does an excellent job of upholding GM Design's world-class visual aesthetics, the engine compartment is where purists REALLY start to take notice. And for good reason too, because the burly, 455 cubic inch V8 that's bolted between the car's freshly detailed fenders is the kind of killer powerhouse that makes people either put up or shut up. Turn the key and a big Quadrajet carburetor mixes air from a black, dual-snorkel cleaner with fuel that's supplied by carefully bent stainless, and shoves it into a correct, cast iron intake. That intake feeds cast iron heads, which ride between a familiar points distributor and high quality Super Max plug wires. Spent gases are jetted through correct, cast iron manifolds, which ride under traditional, stamped steel valve covers. And a large radiator, which circulates water around an old school Frigidaire AC compressor via pliable hoses and reproduction tower clamps, provides cooling. The bright red block looks fantastic, framed in Satin Black fenders and dressed in an array of correct decals. Well-planned details, like an authentic Delco Moraine brake booster, a Saginaw steering box and a high quality Delco battery topper, prove someone spent a lot of time executing this Buick's top-notch restoration. And naturally, the monster mill displays a correct 1231738 casting number and matching partial VIN. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Under this Buick, it's just as the factory planned, except with much more precision and, subsequently, much more appeal. An original, "BA" branded Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed sends power to a familiar 10-bolt that's equipped with mild, 3.08 gears. Holding that killer drivetrain off the ground is a familiar double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension that's equipped with factory power steering. During restoration, power-assisted drums were completely rebuilt to factory specifications. On the outside of those brakes, chrome Magnum 500s twist 245/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. The aforementioned manifolds dump spent gases in to aluminized pipes, which follow an X-shaped crossover with throaty Pypes Street Pro mufflers. The car's frame, free of any major damage, is painted black to match its solid, undercoated floors. And, in keeping with the 455 up top, much attention has been paid to making sure everything under this classic is clean, mean and ready to go! INTERIOR Pop the sculpted doors and you'll find a correct code 175 Ivory interior that's still restoration-fresh in virtually every way. Comfy seats and fade-free door panels continue the placid feeling of the soothing Seamist Green exterior. In front of the car's rare, power-adjustable front bench, an original dash frames a vintage Sonomatic radio, controls for Harrison air conditioning and crystal clear telemetry. At the base of that dash, heavy duty, shield-branded floor mats protect like-new carpet. In front of the driver, a cool Buick steering wheel laps a tilting column that's fitted with a simple shifter. Behind the passengers, a bright convertible cowl snaps tight over a lighted trunk that's complete with a fresh mat, a correct jack, a full-size spare tire and a new decklid decal. And factory power windows join a power-operated roof in welcoming cool spring mornings and crisp fall evenings. HISTORICAL INFORMATION With this unique GS, authenticity is inborn. Its killer V8 will cruise effortlessly at will, and its slick body, classy interior and tough transmission are desirable attributes that set it apart from run-of-the-mill A-Bodies. As a rule, well-done Buick muscle cars usually don't inhabit our showroom for very long. And when they're built and priced like this, it's easy to see why! Of course, we ALL know it just doesn't get any better than an Eisenhower-era convertible. And with that in mind, there are a few top-of-the-line cruisers that might qualify as your 'ultimate'. You could always snatch up a hot '57 Bel Air But as nice as those are, Chevrolet's market-dominating production capacity makes true exclusivity null and void. Well okay then, why not sign the papers on a slick '59 Impala Unfortunately, that car's bulk and extravagance push things a little too far into modern and weighty. There's always Buick's Holy Grail: the original Skylark But, while first year 'larks are certainly very cool, their lack of refinement can sometimes be a deal breaker. In that case, it's a good thing your friends at RK Motors Charlotte are offering this professionally restored Buick Series 100 Skylark! An official member of the 836 cars assembled during the last model year of the original Skylark, this investment grade drop-top is one of the rarest and most desirable '50s collector cars ever produced. Want the ultimate classic to park at shows or parade down Main Street? This Buick is the highly correct masterpiece you've been patiently waiting for! HISTORY/CREATION Introduced as a celebration of Buick's 50th anniversary, the 1953 Skylark was one of three specialty convertibles created to promote General Motors' leadership in design and innovation. Like its Fiesta and Eldorado stablemates, the big Buick was a limited-production, hand-made halo that was overwhelmingly admired by the public and rewarded with a very successful sales rate. For the 1954 model year, the marque transitioned to a Century-based replacement that, despite complementing the car's handsome looks with mass-production refinement, was not as well accepted. And by the end of the sales year, sentiment was low, numbers were low and GM decided to pull the plug on the tri-shield division's once celebrated line-topper. Today, roughly 60 years later, the car's world-class design characteristics can be found in pretty much every modern automaker's aesthetic DNA. And its unique blend of optimistic swagger and unmatched exclusivity make it one of the most coveted classics on the planet. BODYWORK/TRIM The beneficiary of a thorough, frame-off restoration that was completed sometime around 2009, this killer drop-top is one of the coolest Buicks we've ever seen! The restorers began by stripping the car's smooth, Harley Earl-designed body all the way to bare metal. When that heavy cleaning was complete, solid panels were assembled into a clean profile that presents largely blemish-free surfaces. After that thorough test fitting, a silky coat of correct Arctic White paint was capped with correct Black vinyl and teased to a glossy, show-stopping shine. And today, this Skylark's prestigious appearance is a lust worthy representation of one of America's most glorious eras of motoring. ENGINE Lift the car's 'alligator hood' and you'll find a 322 cubic inch Fireball V8 that props a correct Roadmaster assembly stamp in front of a correct 1165165 casting number. Nicknamed the "Nail valve", and eventually known as the "Nailhead", this fully detailed mill employs greater lift and better duration to create a Kansas-flat power band. Funny thing is: hot rodders of the day actually coined the engine's nickname as a derisive description of its puny valvetrain and restrictive plumbing, but they certainly couldn't ignore its stellar power! The proven block has undoubtedly been rebuilt, and probably looks much better today than when it growled off the assembly line. Aesthetically, the mill, which perches a massive air cleaner and big, 4-barrel carburetor above factory heads, has been painted a traditional green hue. There are many fresh pieces like pliable belts, an old school generator and proven Belden ignition cables. A glossy firewall meets satin fenders to frame those pieces in a construct of distinctly American curves. And overall, the engine seems clean, simple and highly functional. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION While the '53 Skylark was essentially a fully optioned, slightly customized Roadmaster, GM decided to build the '54 model on Buick's shorter Century/Special chassis. This certainly wasn't a popular decision at the time, but it definitely benefits the car today as more precise build techniques and better commonality make restoration and maintenance much easier. The basis for this drop-top's solidity is an industrial strength frame that's married to a correctly restored suspension. At the center of that suspension, a new-for-1953 Twin Turbine Dynaflow 2-speed twists power to a factory rear end. At the edges of that drivetrain, Dynaflow-mandated power drum brakes initiate quick, drama-free stops. Turns come courtesy of Dynaflow-mandated power steering. A single-pipe exhaust system makes good use of a factory replacement muffler. Everything rolls on familiar Kelsey-Hayes wires, which spin 7.60-15 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls around "SKYLARK" branded center caps. And, with a fully sorted, red-tinged undercarriage that's ready to hit the road, this big cruiser would be right at home chauffeuring the family to their favorite dinner spot. INTERIOR Loaded with virtually every option in the book, this classic Buick's correct Matador Red interior features a perfect mix of outrageous style and traditional American luxury. The big bench seats, 4-way adjustable up front, are stuffed with fresh Foamtex padding, covered in correct block-embossed leather and trimmed in pristine stainless brightwork. In front of those seats, a Carlsbad Black dash hangs chrome-trimmed gauges behind an electric clock, a Selectronic radio and a factory heater. At the base of that dash, high quality carpet frames matched Buick mats and slick Skylark sills. At the sides of that carpet, chrome-trimmed door panels found small power window switches between bright stainless toppers and correct chrome handles. In front of the driver, a flexible-spoke steering wheel spins a full horn ring around an ornate centerpiece. Behind the passengers, a lighted trunk hides a fifth Kelsey-Hayes wheel inside a fifth whitewall tire. And, based on a thorough visual inspection, the car's cockpit appears exceptionally restored, all the way from its glare-proof mirror to its snug-fitting convertible cowl. Today that spirit has made them a true unique cruiser, and in the case of this 1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport with its 401 numbers-matching V8, there might be no more affordable way to get a classy classic with this much power. The body is a little more curvaceous than your garden-variety Chevelle, and the factory-correct white paint goes perfect with Buick's premium image. As you look over this coupe, there's plenty of evidence that this has led a cared for life with correct maintenance and upkeep, but not so much that it ruined this car's original attitude. The real attention is in the details, such as how nicely the big hood and deck lid fit. Buick's designs were coming into the modern era during this time and had done away with gratuitous chrome on their cars. This makes the big bumpers, grille, and iconic portholes impressive standout styling elements. But what really sets this car apart are the '60s sporting touches, such as the wire wheels, black vinyl roof, and the original Gran Sport badging. Nothing feels as '60s cool as the moment you sit down in the red vinyl bucket seats, grab the gearshift, and rest your arm on the center console. Every piece of original trim is still in place, from the chrome on the door panels, to the Buick crest sitting below the dash. The interior has pristine seating for five, but the driver gets all the real treats. The stylish red Buick steering wheel sits in front of the big original gauges. You'll love all of the accessories that still look fresh from the factory, including the heater/defrost controls and the AM radio, that still spells out B-U-I-C-K in the preset buttons. Under the hood you'll find a numbers-matching Wildcat 445 V8 named after its torque rating. An interesting marketing approach, these engines actually displace 401 cubic inches and were topped by a freshly built carter four-barrel carburetor that provides reliable startups. Regardless of the name, this powerplant advertised an impressive 325 horsepower. The Wildcat is hooked up to a dual exhaust system, but unlike the brutish muscle cars, this is a sophisticated animal. So the low-end rumble will provide you personal pride without setting off neighborhood car alarms. If you really want to get attention with this monster motor, then just pop the hood and everyone at the car shows will flock to your exceptionally original engine bay. This Buick is truly set up for cruising with power steering, power brakes, and a two-speed automatic that was much smoother than Chevy's. This Buick is powerful, elegant, and highly original former AACA multiple award winner. Where else are you going to find this much vintage American appeal for under $20K? You might say the storied brand has done it all. It's the foundation for today's General Motors Company. It's the foundation for America's growth in the world's largest automotive market. And, in the '50s, when Detroit was at the top of its luxury game, fine automobiles like this magnificent Skylark gave serious credibility to the line "When better automobiles are built Buick will build them". Commissioned to celebrate the brand's 50th anniversary, this fully sorted cruiser is 1 of only 1,690 Skylarks assembled for the 1953 model year. Visually, it's some of the coolest metal to ever roll down an assembly line. Thanks to a remarkable combination of smooth power and world-class style, the car sits at the pinnacle of luxury engineering. And, if you're a cultured enthusiast who's looking for a clean, investment grade classic, it's the carefully restored masterpiece of your dreams! The 1953 Roadmaster Skylark was one of three specialty convertibles created to promote General Motors' leadership in design and innovation. Like its Fiesta and Eldorado stablemates, the Skylark was a limited-production, hand-made halo that was overwhelmingly admired by the public and rewarded with a very successful sales rate. Today, roughly 60 years later, the car's world-class design characteristics can be found in pretty much every modern automaker's aesthetic DNA. And its unique blend of optimistic swagger and unmatched exclusivity make it one of the most coveted classics on the planet. BODYWORK/TRIM The beneficiary of a thorough, frame-off restoration that was completed in the late '90s by Fort Wayne, Indiana's R&S Classic Auto, this killer drop-top is one of the sweetest tri-shields we've ever seen! The restorers began by stripping the car's curvaceous, mostly handmade body all the way to bare metal. When that heavy cleaning was complete, all those Harley Earl-designed panels were assembled into a correct profile that presents largely blemish-free surfaces. After that thorough test fitting, a smooth coat of Matador Red paint was teased to a glossy, show-stopping shine. And today, this Skylark's prestigious appearance is a lust worthy representation of one of America's most glorious eras of motoring. ENGINE Lift the car's 'alligator hood' and you'll find a 322 cubic inch Fireball V8 which wears a correct "V2I0457" assembly stamp and twists a stout 188 horsepower into 300 ft./lb. of low-end torque. There are many fresh pieces like pliable belts, a tagged Delco-Remy generator and proven Hypalon ignition cables. A glossy firewall meets satin fenders to frame those pieces in a construct of distinctly American curves. And overall, the engine seems clean, simple and highly functional. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Essentially, Buick's original Skylark is a fully optioned and highly customized Roadmaster. And the firm's decision to use its proven C-Body architecture certainly wasn't a bad one as quality and reliability, words rarely uttered in the same sentence as "highly customized", remained solid. The basis for this drop-top's solidity is an industrial strength chassis that rides on a correctly restored suspension. At the center of that suspension, a new-for-1953 Twin Turbine Dynaflow, which wears a correct "J" assembly stamp, twists power to a factory rear end. At the edges of that drivetrain, big drum brakes initiate quick, drama-free stops. Turns come courtesy of factory power steering. A single-pipe exhaust system makes good use of a factory replacement muffler. Everything rolls on familiar Kelsey-Hayes wires, which spin 235/75R15 Dayton whitewalls around "SKYLARK" branded center caps. And, with a fully sorted undercarriage that's ready to hit the road, this big cruiser would be right at home chauffeuring the family to their favorite dinner spot. INTERIOR An excellent mix of new world style and old world luxury, this Skylark's striking interior, restored by Jenkins Restorations of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, is the perfect place to parade down Main Street. The car's plush benches are stuffed with thick padding, covered in pleated leather and trimmed in era-correct hardware. In front of those seats, a Matador Red dash hangs a correct Selectronic radio, a rebuilt clock and chrome-trimmed gauges behind a textured instrument panel. At the base of that dash, high quality carpet is anchored by slick "Skylark" branded sill plates. At the sides of that carpet, ornate, chrome-trimmed door panels found small power window switches between correct chrome handles. In front of the driver, an intricate, color-keyed steering wheel spins a full horn ring around a customized centerpiece. And behind the passengers, a snug-fitting cowl snaps over a fully restored trunk that centers a fifth wire wheel inside a fifth whitewall tire. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIESA framed collage of restoration photosMiscellaneous service recordsTwo display boardsA framed poster Combining a thorough restoration with acute detailing, this investment grade Skylark is one of the best classics money can buy! Add in the car's smooth drivetrain and low production numbers, and it's virtually guaranteed to gain value AND exclusivity. We all know it's becoming increasingly tough to find top-notch, correctly restored post-war metal. Don't miss your chance to own one of the coolest Buicks on the planet! The restoration is fresh, it's got the right options and hardware, and you can't argue with the stunning good looks. That luscious red paint is called Firepepper Red Pearl, and rendered in two-stage DuPont urethane, it has a look you almost want to touch to see if it's still wet. This Buick's familiar A-body look didn't come easy, though, because there was a lot of effort invested in getting the sheetmetal right before the paint went on, including fresh quarters to make someone else's work near perfect. The result it a super straight Buick that fits together right and looks like it should cost thousands more than it does. A GS hood with twin nostrils gives it an aggressive look, but the Buick is always dignified, so it does without spoilers and stripes. It does, however, offer a lot of shiny chrome that's in excellent condition, including both bumpers and the stainless trim around the windows. This is a really sharp car! The black bucket seat interior was added to help complete the GS look and was all new at the time of restoration in 2012 and still looks fantastic today. Reproduction seat covers, new foam and springs, and fresh carpets provide a factory-correct look and settling in behind the wheel is easy. But to give you a better idea of how nice this car is, those are the original door panels, and the line between new and old is very blurry indeed. Nice! Options include a center console, factory A/C with R134a refrigerant, and a speed minder that's kind of a cool period piece. The gauges are clear and show well, while a set of aftermarket gauges hangs under the dash. And instead of going crazy with the upgrades, this car retained its stock AM radio rather than stuffing some modern piece in there, and the dash looks all the better for it. Horseshoe shifters always look great and in the Buick, the woodgrained handle lends it a more upscale look than in some of its lower-priced cousins. The trunk is also correctly restored, offering a reproduction mat, spare tire with cover, and fresh spatter finish paint on the original sheetmetal floor. The car's original, numbers-matching 350 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt to largely stock specs, although there was an .030 overbore and a lot of new parts inside. A Comp Cams camshaft was added to give it a bit of a cackle and a T/A Performance intake manifold was installed under the original Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor. Up top, there's the distinctive Ram Air air cleaner and a custom dual exhaust system was fabricated to give it the right sound. It has been comprehensively detailed and looks as good underneath as it does up top, an endeavor that is neither cheap nor easy. There's a new radiator, a new drive shaft, a rebuilt A/C system, and a sturdy TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. The entire suspension was rebuilt with quality MOOG components and boxed control arms out back and with 2.73 gears in the 10-bolt rear end, it's a very comfortable highway cruiser. Classic Buick Road wheels are among the best-looking rims of the period and carry 225/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials all around. Look at the quality on this car, then look again at the price. If this was a Chevelle or GTO, it would cost 25% more, but as a Buick you get just as much performance with a little bit of luxury to match. It was stashed away in the garage, peeking out as if to taunt us with its low mileage and clean living, and only came out on Sundays when the weather was nice. Today, it's an awesome survivor with just 60,740 original miles and just one owner, exactly like the one you always dreamed of. In 1970, the Skylark was a lot of things to a lot of people, ranging from affordable commuter to fire-breathing muscle car. This handsome hardtop fits in the middle, with V8 muscle wrapped in luxurious trim and classic A-body good looks. The code 68 Burnished Saddle paint was refreshed not too long ago and looks fantastic today, just about right for the period with a great shine. As a low-mileage car that spent its life in a garage, it hasn't been patched together from a rusty hulk and the way the doors open and close remind us why survivors are so special. Gaps are good, detailing is crisp, and all the factory emblems and trim pieces remain in place, so it has an authentic look. Big chrome bumpers are undoubtedly original and speak to how nicely maintained this car really is, and the tan vinyl top fits well, doesn't have any major popped seams or discoloration, and there are no signs of big problems underneath. And I bet you never noticed the ridge around the grille up front, which was 1970-only and typically seen only standard Skylarks. The tan cloth and vinyl interior is also all original and in very good condition overall. There's some light fading and discoloration on the tops of the seats where the sun has been hitting them for the past four and a half decades, but the seat cushions and covers are intact and still quite attractive. Factory carpets are protected by floor mats that are also quite likely original, and the unique steering wheel is unusual only because we're so used to the sporty GS models. Basic instruments cover speed and fuel level, which is really all you need to know on a car like this, and it's fitted with desirable features like power windows and factory A/C, all of which are operating correctly. The factory AM radio works too! This particular Skylark also features a very tidy original trunk with spatter finish paint, a correct mat, and what may very well be the original spare tire with a matching cover. Buick's 350 cubic inch V8 is quietly competent, with good torque and remains silky smooth in the Custom models. This is unquestionably the original, numbers-matching engine, and it is the upgraded 4-barrel version that was a bit more powerful than the base 2-barrel. Bright Dante Red paint on the engine itself makes it easy to identify Buick powerplants, and while it's not all shiny and perfect, there are plenty of signs of careful maintenance over the years. There are no major deviations from stock, so it starts and runs well and never seems to be working very hard. A TH350 3-speed automatic delivers crisp shifts and the whole powertrain has a polished feeling that's a big part of a survivor's appeal. There's a new single exhaust system underneath, so it has the right sound, and as you can see, the undercarriage has nothing to hide with original floors unmarred by heavy undercoating. Standard steel wheels with hubcaps are still there, but the 215/75/14 whitewall radials give it that big Buick ride. Just a neat survivor with good power and a lot of charm. The problem is most of those fairy tales involve models that are very common in collector car folklore and, despite high five or even six digit price tags, almost always have equally impressive peers. Well, as you all know, the dedicated staff at RK Motors Charlotte specializes in both rare AND unique automobiles. And our latest one-of-a-kind offering, this custom ordered 9,645 mile Buick GS 400, is the nicest '67 survivor we've ever seen and undoubtedly the finest unrestored Buick in the world. As an all original head turner that's spent most of its life in the hands of one dedicated owner, it's the perfect piece for any collector who wants a first rate classic with an outstanding history. And best of all, the car is fully documented from its original window sticker all the way to its recent feature in Hemmings Muscle Machines. If you're looking for some killer blue chip muscle that has an amazing story and even more impressive provenance, Buick built it and RK Motors Charlotte is selling it! Our story begins roughly six years ago when this time capsule tri-shield's current owner was strolling through a national Buick event and noticed the car's peculiar yellow interior. As the second generation owner of a GM dealership he had spent most of his early years watching the best of Detroit's power-happy creations roll straight off the truck and straight into the showroom, so he certainly knew a unique color combination when he saw it. It wasn't long before an older gentleman confirmed the car was for sale and then confirmed it was indeed an all original 1967 GS 400 that had racked up only 9K miles in almost 40 years. After a bit of small talk a few weeks of negotiations commenced and the older gentleman, who certainly knew what he had, agreed to one lump sum payment of cash. It took a little time for the car's current owner to round up the Benjamins, but after visiting four banks and securing a cooler to carry the money in, he headed to Virginia to pick up his new one-of-a-kind muscle car. Only after hands were shook and the older gentleman and his wife had finished counting the money did they decide to reveal the car's whole story and shed light on how it managed to survive in essentially showroom fresh condition. The older gentleman, love struck and ready to settle down, wanted to impress his soon to be bride by special ordering Buick's hottest new model from Blue Ridge Motors in Roanoke, Virginia. Every red-blooded car guy knows that girls love fast cars, so the division's Stage 1 400 with no power steering and no air conditioning was mandatory equipment. A trailer package, which provided stiffer rear springs, and an M20 Muncie 4-speed were thrown in for good measure. And last but not least, the car's interior HAD to match his future wife's gorgeous blonde hair. Unfortunately, as we all know, nothing in this life is guaranteed and the bride to be found another man before the badass GS even rolled off the assembly line. The gentleman was crushed but decided to take the car anyway and ended up tucking it away in his father's basement for the better part of 38 years. When the gentleman's pre-ordered Buick arrived at Roanoke's Blue Ridge Motors, the dealer took a little Windex and plastered the car's original window sticker to the inside of its black decklid. That 45 year old window sticker, which has remained on the car's decklid ever since, breaks down as follows: BUICK GS400 2-DOOR SPORT COUPE: $3,019 STANDARD EQUIPMENT:Deluxe steering wheelCarpetingDual hornsFoam padded seat cushionsDual exhaustAsh tray lightGlove compartment lightWhite or red stripe wide oval tiresHeavy duty Energizer OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT:193: Vinyl Strato Bucket seats ($68.46)M20: Floor shifted 4-speed transmission ($184.31)J50: Power brakes ($41.60)U63: Sonomatic radio with manual antenna ($64.25)U80: Rear seat speaker ($16.64)G80: Positive traction differential ($42.13)G50: Trailer towing option ($3.69)A39: Custom front and rear seatbelts ($6.32)A01: Soft Ray tinted glass ($30.54)B93: Door guards ($4.74)W22: Electric clock and trunk light ($17.90)P05: Chrome plated wheels ($90.58)B85: Belt reveal moldings ($14.74) TOTAL OPTIONS: $585.90 TOTAL VEHICLE PRICE: $3,604.90 Few traditional Buick buyers would ever think of ordering their new luxury car in a sinister coat of GM's code A black. Fewer still would ever dream of accenting that wet looking pigment with a pair of bright red pin stripes. But that's exactly what the original owner of this GS did; and today, thanks to hardly ever seeing sun, rain or street time, the car's mirror-like finish is a largely flaw-free celebration of lacquer laden originality. That said, the body' glossy panels are not devoid of all character like so many fresh frame-off restorations. Rather, they carry just the right amount of wear under a soft shine that simply cannot be duplicated with today's perfected basecoat/clearcoat paint process. Under that vintage single-stage paint, all original OEM sheetmetal shows no signs of botched repairs, accident damage or cancerous rust. And overall, this Buick is as close to factory perfect as a five decades removed classic can get. For 1967 the GS graduated from an options package to a full model line that featured small aesthetic tweaks and a lot more attitude. The result was a substantial looking car which managed to feel more upscale than its GM stable mates while retaining the same broad shouldered, all-American attitude. At the front of this Buick's long body, a broad chrome bumper hangs clear, square marker lights below a deep-set grille which centers a concave divider between red GS ornamentation and four silver-trimmed T3 headlights. At the top of the body, a canted "BUICK" script fronts a sculpted hood which flows to factory glass that's capped by chrome drip rails, bordered by well-maintained stainless trim and cleared by satin finished wiper arms. At the sides of the body, ribbed rocker trim combines with fresh stainless wheel well trim to parallel factory ventiports, original "GS400" quarter emblems, traditional chrome door handles and Buick branded mirrors. And at the back of this Buick, a second chrome bumper centers like-new reverse lamps below a black "GS400" branded rear valence, a second canted "BUICK" script and stylish, stainless-trimmed tail lights. Of special interest are the factory installed rocker panel moldings. Talk to many casual Buick GS "experts" and they will tell you these were not available in 1967. This only means they haven't actually seen them before-but these are originals and the car was delivered with them new! Since GM's 'doctors and lawyers' division decided to get serious about their performance image, they also upped the ante in the engine compartment by equipping their newly christened GS with a first rendition of their now legendary big block V8. Hoist this car's glossy black hood and you'll find 400 cubic inches of untouched, original Buick muscle that produces 340 horsepower, spins stout 10.25 to 1 compression into 440 lb./ft. of torque, and wears a correct 1381624 casting number above a 1967-exclusive NR assembly stamp. At the top of that sinister red block, a familiar Rochester Quadrajet carburetor mixes air from Buick's trademark 'Star Wars' air cleaner with dino juice that's supplied by original stainless fuel lines. At the sides of that carburetor, original semi-wedge heads hang "400-4" branded valve covers over deep breathing cast iron exhaust manifolds. In front of those manifolds, a traditional points distributor shoots fire through authentic Packard TV R Suppression wires. And in front of that distributor, a gloss black radiator circulates coolant through pliable original hoses and authentic tower clamps. In addition to its killer powerplant, this GS maintains a correctly detailed engine bay that's complete with a '67 model washer tank, a Delco Energizer battery and an original brake booster which still wears a "UA" branded assembly tag. Aesthetically, the car's satin black fenders perfectly complement both its bright red engine block and factory-equipped hood insulation. And mechanically this awesome Buick is in outstanding original condition, performing just as well now as when it rolled out of Blue Ridge Motors' Roanoke showroom. At the bottom of this stunning survivor a clean undercarriage tells a long story of excellent maintenance and carefully chosen road time. Naturally the GS hotter engine needed a better drivetrain to effectively establish street credibility, so Buick complemented the car's styling tweaks with a few mechanical adjustments and a number of strengthened components. At the center of the floors a rugged, and original, M20 Muncie 4-speed transmission hangs a correct 3885010 casting number and a Muncie (P) assembled on June (H) 19th (19) 1967 (7) build stamp in front of an original Posi-traction Salisbury rear end that's complete with oversize axle shafts. At the ends of that drivetrain an original heavy duty suspension, which includes thicker sway bars, better shocks, stiffer springs and the aforementioned trailer towing upgrade, combines with Buick's familiar power assisted aluminum drums up front and power-assisted steel drums out back to provide quick stops and great handling. And at the corners of that chassis, power flows to the pavement through original 14 inch Buick Sport wheels which spin original F70-14 Goodyear Custom Wide Tread Polyglas redlines around clean red, white and blue center caps. Speaking of floors the car's straight and solid pans, which are bolted to Buick's heavy duty convertible frame, still hang 99% of their satin black paint over satin black suspension components that still retain much of their factory shine. Spent gases flow through original factory pipes that still employ assembly line correct, GM stamped mufflers. And, based on a quick visual inspection, all the car's hardware and bushings appear to be in good, road-ready condition. Climb inside this timeless Buick muscle car and you'll find a completely original GM code 193 interior that is both comfortable and appealing. As the story goes, this unique color combination came about because the owner of the car wanted vinyl that matched his beloved fianc's blonde hair. Fortunately, even though their love for one another waivered and faded, this GS' interior has remained youthful and true. Covered in original Madrid Grain surfaces (Buick speak for high quality vinyl), the car's firm front bucket and rear bench seats are comfortable, solid and provide spacious seating for at least five. At the center of the cockpit, an optional stainless trimmed consolette props a Buick factory tachometer and an original black shifter above like-new black carpet, heavy duty rubber floor mats and optional Fisher lap belts. Above that consolette, a warp-free dash hangs bright silver trim between original gauges, an original AM/FM radio and a dealer installed stainless tissue dispenser. At the sides of the seats, original yellow door panels feature bright "GS400" emblems, great looking trim, stain-free armrests and pit-free chrome handles. And at the top of the car, a tight black headliner looks as good as the day it left the assembly line. Connecting the driver to the road is a great looking original steering wheel which prominently displays a modernist design theme around a small red, white and blue Buick emblem. And behind the passengers, an optional rear speaker hangs over a super clean trunk that's equipped with original factory decals, an original spare tire and the car's original dealer-applied window sticker. It should come as no surprise that, when this epic tri-shield came out of hiding, it began racking up some serious accolades. Here's a comprehensive list of its recent awards and accomplishments:Featured in the 2010 edition of Hemmings calendarFeatured in the July 2008 edition of Hemmings Muscle MachinesConcours Gold winner at the 2008 Buick GS Nationals in Bowling Green, Kentucky1999 AACA National First Prize winner But wait, there's more. First and foremost, they want something that's unique. Secondly, they want something that's highly desirable. And last but not least, they want something that has major provenance. Fortunately, the gearheads at RK Motors Charlotte pride themselves on specializing in blue chip classics. And they always have cars, like this 1 of 1 Motion-modified GSX, that are lustworthy, exclusive and historically significant. With a 455 cubic inch V8, correct Turbo-Hydramatic transmission and brilliant yellow and black aesthetics, this Buick is certainly some of the coolest metal to ever roll out of Detroit. The beneficiary of a recent rotisserie restoration, the car can be displayed and driven for years without worry. And, thanks to the folks at Motion Performance, it's a one-of-a-kind classic that's virtually guaranteed to gain value! By now you probably know that most of our investment grade offerings feature substantial documentation. And, in keeping with tradition, the sale of this storied A-Body includes a small packet from the GSX Historic Society that lists the following optional equipment:A-9 Option Group- Distinctive GSX hood and body stripes- Front and rear spoilers- GSX spoiler and quarter ornamentation- GSX grille and instrument panel emblems- Rocker panel moldings with distinctive black GSX stripes- Color-coordinated headlamp bezels- Color-coordinated racing mirrors- Hood tachometerGS option included in GSX- B-3: 4-speed manual transmission- B-7: Consolette- C-1: Power disc brakes- F-7: Chrome wheels with G60-15 Super Wide Oval / white billboard lettered tires- G-1: Performance axle with posi-traction 3.42 gear ratio- H-6 Rally Ride Control Package-- Firm ride springs-- Rear stabilizer bar-- Rear lower control arm assembly- U-9: Instrument gauges and Rally clock- X-2: Rally steering wheelOptional equipment- B-2: Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission- B-4: Full-length console- C-D: Quick ratio power steering and power disc brakes- D-5: AM/FM radio- D-6: Rear speaker- F-7: Chrome wheels with G60-15 Super Wide Oval / white billboard lettered tires- H-6: Rally Ride Control Package-- Firm ride springs-- Rear stabilizer bar-- Rear lower control arm assembly- I-6: Air conditioner- J-3: Custom front seat and shoulder belts / Custom rear seatbelts- L-1: Soft Ray tinted glass- P-1: Carpet savers and handy mats- U-9: Instrument gauges and rally clock- 3-N: Special paint Looking mean and sounding positively evil, this killer coupe was transferred from Smith Buick in Seneca, South Carolina to Lindsey-Hopkins Buick in Marietta, Georgia at the request of a money-wielding Georgia Tech student. That student originally hailed from Long Island and, during one of his trips home, decided to stop by Motion Performance for some choice modifications. And the duo promptly began a life of bare-knuckle pavement domination, eventually becoming legends in the Atlanta street racing scene. Unfortunately, priorities change and, roughly three years into its life, the car was sold to a second owner. Both that owner and its third owner pledged loving restorations which turned into years of parts storage. And finally, circa 2005, an avid Buick enthusiast, and owner of Marietta's Then and Now Auto, purchased, researched and restored the car. That restoration was, in typical Then and Now fashion, a highly detailed, rotisserie rebuild. During that rebuild, the car's body was stripped to bare metal and massaged into better-than-factory alignment. When that alignment was as close to perfect as possible, correct Saturn Yellow was decked in satin stripes, sealed in glossy clear and buffed to a super slick shine. And today, this GSX presents as a no-nonsense classic that turns heads and drops jaws! By 1970, Buick had pretty much perfected its top dog performance offering both mechanically and aesthetically. At the front of the car, a clean silver grille hangs a bold "GSX" emblem between a heavy bumper, yellow-trimmed T3s and a small chin spoiler. Behind that grille, a locked and vented hood incorporates a beefy tachometer in front of hidden wipers, Soft Ray glass and bright stainless trim. At the sides of that hood, color-keyed mirrors and traditional door handles perfectly complement small "MOTION" emblems, vivid "GSX" call-outs and dent-free fender caps. And at the back of the car, a massive bumper centers a classy "BUICK" script between clear tail lamps and a tall, "GSX" branded spoiler. While the exterior of this A-Body does an excellent job of upholding GM Design's world-class visuals, the engine compartment is where purists REALLY start to take notice. And for good reason, because the 455 cubic inch V8 that's bolted between the car's freshly detailed fenders is the kind of powerhouse that makes people put up or shut up. Turn the key and a Motion-installed Holley 3-barrel mixes air from a Motion-installed 'fly's eye' air cleaner with fuel that's supplied by two electronic, Motion-installed fuel pumps. That air/fuel mixture travels into a Motion-installed Edelbrock B4B intake which, with the help of stock GM internals, creates detuned 9.5 to 1 compression that's perfectly compatible with pump gas. Fire for that compression is provided by an Accel distributor, which shoots sparks through Mallory Ramcharger plug wires thanks to an Accel coil and Motion-installed Phase III ignition. Spent gases from that fire are jetted through Motion-installed Mickey Thompson Competition Plus headers. And cooling for that cycle is provided by a factory radiator that circulates water around an old school Frigidaire AC system via pliable hoses and correct tower clamps. Well-planned details like fresh decals, a Delco battery topper, correct Motion valve covers and an even coat of Satin Black paint prove someone spent a lot of time executing this Buick's restoration. And it all adds up to one fully-sorted road rocket which is all day reliable and nice enough to grace the front row at a national car show. Oh, and did I mention the big red engine is believed to be a factory exchange block that was pre-assembled by the pros at Motion Performance? As you might imagine, the tweaked 455 needed ample backup to effectively establish street credibility. So, Motion complemented Buick's already impressive mechanicals with a few choice components. First and foremost, this coupe's Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed has been hooked to a 12-bolt Chevrolet rear end that's fitted with a finned cover and quick, 4.10 gears. Below that drivetrain, a correct Rally Ride Control suspension is supplemented with Hurst shocks and yellow Lakewood ladder bars. Naturally, factory power steering and power front disc and rear drum brakes are present and accounted for. Exhaust flows through Motion-installed pipes and vintage Thrush mufflers. The big block's torque meets the pavement through slick Keystone mags, which spin correct G60-15 Mickey Thompson Indy Profile S/S around Motion-branded spinners. And overall, the bottom of this professionally restored classic appears to be in excellent, show worthy condition. Pop the coupe's sculpted doors and you'll find a correct Black interior that's steeped in subdued tri-shield style. Comfy seats and fade-free door panels mix with a tight headliner and stain-free carpet to provide big-time contrast to the car's Saturn Yellow exterior. In front of those seats, a straight, Motion-branded dash hangs clean Rally gauges next to a retrofitted radio delete. At the base of that dash, a simple shifter rides inside an ornate console and heavy duty, tri-shield branded floor mats. In front of the driver, a familiar Buick Rally wheel spins satin-finished spokes around a red-lined horn button. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk anchors a Mickey Thompson spare behind a chrome fire extinguisher and the aforementioned fuel pumps. The sale of this brazen Buick includes:A 1970 nickel found in the car's driver's seatA 1973 photo of the carA summary of the car's historyA specs sheetRestoration photosA copy of the car's feature in the October, 2006 edition on Muscle Car Enthusiast MagazineThe previously outlined paperwork from the GSX Historic SocietyA letter from Joel Rosen, President of Motion Performance, confirming the car's authenticity. It\'s rare to see a Buick that\'s not a GS get the muscle car makeover, but this 1966 Skylark convertible shows off what\'s possible with a little imagination. After all, this is a cousin to the GTO and the Olds 442, so everything that\'s great about those cars translates directly to the slick Buick, too. Originally red, this Skylark now proudly wears a coat of blue that looks especially good on the clean A-body sheetmetal. The first things most folks notice about this car are those hood scoops, which give a low-key Buick a very aggressive overall demeanor. Of course, those contrasting light blue stripes certainly don\'t hurt with the attitude adjustment, and even speaking as a Buick guy, one has to like the look a lot. Those quarter panels look about a quarter-mile long, but they\'re straight and well-finished, and as a convertible, this one feels rock solid with doors that fit well, a tribute to Buick\'s build quality. Styling is typical \'60s conservative, but there\'s a quiet confidence about this car that suggests it has nothing to prove. Just the same, it\'s dressed nicely with bright chrome bumpers and plenty of bright stainless trim around the windshield and grille. As conservative as the Buick appears externally (well, without the stripes and scoops, anyway), the interior says, \"Let\'s party!\" Striped seat covers look authentic and fit beautifully, making for a very inviting passenger compartment. The fat wood-rimmed wheel is clearly a recent addition and looks quite upscale, which is certainly appropriate in GM\'s #2 brand. The original gauges keep track of the basics assisted by an under-dash temperature gauge, and the dash itself wears bright stainless trim instead of the ersatz wood that would come later. Entertainment from the AM/FM/CD stereo is augmented by a remote that keeps the original AM radio in the dash for an OEM look. The trunk is simply massive (and remember this is only the \"mid-sized\" Buick in 1966!), carrying a full-sized spare and a mat that fits well. Overhead, a light blue convertible top looks new and expertly installed with no wrinkles or sags. Displacing a nice, round 300 cubic inches, the 310 Wildcat this Buick holds represents the torque rating, and the stout small block moves the convertible with genuine enthusiasm. Finished in Buick Turquoise, it shows evidence of regular service and fairly recent paint on the valve covers and very few deviations from stock. It\'s backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt out back. No, it\'s not detailed and shiny like it\'s going to the prom, but it is solid and nicely maintained, with a recent dual exhaust system that sounds muscular. Classic Buick road wheels always look great, especially when wrapped in period-correct G70-14 redlines. If you\'re a Buick fan or just looking for a clean ragtop that isn\'t a garden-variety Chevy, this muscle-bound Buick deserves a second look. And where else can you get into a nice classic convertible for this price?! Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
