1969 Alfa Romeo Duetto Boat Tail Restored 3 years ago and was left in storage, barely driven. This is a beautiful example of a restored Duetto. Designed by Pininfarina. I call this car the "Baby Ferrari 330" because of the body similarities. - Body is straight, no rust, solid floor and solid jack points - No Evidence of an accident or small repairs - Interior - Original Dash and carpets and the 2 seats have been reupholstered (I'm including 2 new front rubber carpets) - Trunk area - Spare Tire and the rest of the area, restored to show car condition - Tool Kit Included - Original Boot Cover - 4 New Koni Shocks - Adjustable Front Ball Joint Arms - All tie rods, bushings and Ball Joints have been replaced with new ones - Rebuilt Front Calipers with new Brake Pads (Front and Rear) - New Rear Brake Calipers - 2 New Brake Boosters - Polished Valve Cover - 1750 CC Engine - Reconditioned - runs great and smooth - It still has the original 1969 Fuel Injection Pump Type (You can see in the pictures the engine compartment is in show car condition) (Engine Number - AR00551 03129) - Transmission has been reconditioned, shifts great, with no grinding - New Clutch - New Differential Straps - Clean Gas Tank, with new fuel pump and new fuel filter - All Chrome and Bumpers are in a excellent condition - New Top and all the Rubbers on the car are new as well - 2 New Mirrors (Left and Right) - Originals Rims, powder coated - 4 New Hubcaps - New Tires (Komo 165-70-14) - 2 New Front Head Light Covers - New Front Grill - New Anza Muffler I've been restoring Alfa's for 40+ years and rarely have I seen a Duetto in this nice of a condition. The previous owner bought this car restored, as is, from a dealer and paid top dollar for it. The car is registered in California with 2016 tags and the pink slip is under my name. Street modified (SCCA rules) 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider (twin-cam inline-four 1962 cc engine with Spica fuel injection), with 68k total miles. Significant engine mods (done in 1987 at about 45k miles) include Autodelta camshafts (11mm valve lift, timing IO/IC/EO/EC of 35/-75/-75/-35 degrees and 252 degrees of lift at 0.050”, estimated +20 HP), European headers (+6 HP), Shankle high performance Quadraflow air induction system (+7 HP), and the head was milled 0.010” to increase the compression ratio. The second set of points (originally installed for emissions controlled) has been removed. The car also has a Shankle “sure-start” mechanical actuator from Shankle replacing the original thermostatic actuator. (The Autodelta camshafts do not sacrifice low-RPM power, but I did adjust the idle up to about 1000 RPM to eliminate hunting.)Drive train: The engine is in great shape and very strong. The European headers and Quadraflow intake has made it a bit louder than stock. There is some oil seepage from both the oil pan and the rear differential (typical of aluminum engines of that period). Steering still tight. Body: New paint in 2013. There are some minor hail dents (about a half dozen each on the trunk and engine hood) that you can see in the pictures if you look closely. I bought the car in 1985 (I am the second owner) and covered it daily through 1987 and it has been garaged daily since then (so no rust). Overall, the body is in very good shape. Interior: Ok. The dash is still in good shape (no cracks) and the windshield visors are tight. I did a hack job installing a new radio decades ago and that needs to be redone. Some of the dash trim has broken (like around the heater controls). All gauges work fine. There is some discoloration on the carpet from sun damage and some discoloration and minor nicks on the door panels. The outside passenger door handle works intermittently. The lock on the Shankle sure start no longer holds so it needs to be manually held during starting. Suspension: The suspension is worn and creaks. It should be rebuilt (Centerline part BJ125 ($564) for front and BJ129 ($232) for rear). Performance springs (Centerline part PS410 ($132) for front and PS412 ($112) for rear) and Koni shocks (Centerline part SA155 ($122) for front SA178 ($122) for rear) would be super nice also. This 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce 2000 is the last year which offered the original chrome bumpers, before U.S. safety regulations required the large unsightly rubber bumpers. It also has the original Spica fuel injection system which works flawlessly. Since I have owned it I have had both the engine and transmission rebuilt (Besic Motorsports, Glen Ellyn, IL), as well as a new paint job (Compact Cars, Chicago, IL). There are many other new parts, such as alternator, master brake cylinder, fuel tank, etc. Rear suspension was also taken care of. I also obtained the difficult to find oil/gas separator for the emissions system, which in all other Alfas of this age have deteriorated long ago. I just installed a new cloth Robbins top (9/19/14) purchased from International Auto and installed by a local shop. I only left the interior untouched which is in decent original condition. I would challenge you to find model of this year (S2) in better condition. When I purchased the vehicle, it was in excellent original condition and I simply made it better. I have all receipts for the work. I should note that the engine was given a 1750 camshaft for added power. Further, when the transmission was rebuilt, the gears were carefully drilled out to lighten the gears, which contributes to ease of shifting and longevity of the gearbox. It is super fast and does not leak or burn any oil which, as you should know, says a lot for an Alfa of this age. Paint: 9.9 out of 10; no paint job is perfect except when it steps out of the factory;Tires / Wheels: 10 out of 10; has the Ferrari designed Cromodora wheels, comes with original Campagnolo wheels;Motor: 10 out of 10; can’t ask for anything better, Mike Besic tuned this one to be fast!Transmission 10 out of 10; again, can’t ask for anything better;Brakes: 9 out of 10.Interior: 7 out of 10; I left the interior original; added Restoration carpet (100% wool); I even have the original cigarette lighter that came with the car;Radio: did not come with the original, if there was one; added a 2 Din radio so that I would not have to cut any portion of the brace; added 2 excellent Alpine speakers in the lower footwells; you can really hear the stereo well at full speed with the top down.Rear differential 10 out of 10; pulled, cleaned and repainted, with new gasket and fluid.
