1995 Volvo 850 I have owned this car for over 2 years and traveled everywhere. I did regular maintenance such as brakes, tune up, timing belt, and religiously changed the oil every 3000 miles even though the manual says 5,000. This car has never left me stranded and would average 26 MPG. I thought it was time to upgrade because it has over 240,000 miles. Even at these miles the engine is as quiet as a sewing machine. On Christmas day coming back from a trip I was on the highway cruising along at 70 MPH when all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the car went down on power. I got off at the next exit and when I came to a stop the car was idling rough. I pulled into a parking lot and popped the hood. Though the car had a rough idle it still was quiet and not smoking or over heating. I drove it the rest of the way back without issue except for the rough idle. I was going to sell the car anyway only now for a lot cheaper. I really do not have time to work on it at this time so I am selling “AS IS”. I would say if you live within 100 miles you could drive it home. I just drove it 10 miles before taking the pictures. The idle was better but still rough and the engine is still quiet. As for the car itself it is in great condition for it's age. There is no rust. The clear coat is coming off the roof and trunk lid. The interior is an 8 with no rips. The headliner was coming down in a few places which is common in Volvo's but has been reattached. The air conditioning would need topped off every Spring and works great throughout the summer. I did a leak test and never could find one. The cruise control works when it wants to which is also a Volvo issue. One last issue is the sun roof. All summer the sun roof works great with no leaks. Every winter the sun roof has a small leak only when sitting. So every winter I silicone the roof and every Spring I peel off the silicone. Other than that everything else works as it should. This car has plenty of life left. This is my 5th 850 Volvo the last one had 300,000 miles on it never used oil and the person who bought it drove it another 200,000 miles. So there is the story. Please remember the car is 21 years old and you are buying the car “AS IS” with no warranty!!! Please do not be afraid to shoot me an offer!
