This is a1986 Volvo 240 GL SW. Fuel injected rear wheel drive. This vehicle was originally sold in Texas, relocated to Pennsylvania and then to NC. It has some rust on the rear deck at the wiper arm attachment and the exterior rocker panels. This is a daily driver and runs out very well. I have removed the catalytic convertor, it was clogged, and it now has a straight pipe. A/C refitted to R134a and is cold. Running from 1974 to 1993, Volvo sold 2.8 million of these cars, and there are still a lot on the road due to their extreme longevity. There just are not so many available for sale as folks tend to keep them for so long. This example is a 2 owner, Southern car that has been here in Greensboro with the same owner since 1994. It is one of the best examples of a 240 sedan we have seen in a long time. It is still very original and complete. There is no rust and the exterior is in better than average condition. There are no dents or damage to mention. The paint is even, shiny and very good - it appears to be either excellent original or redone extremely well. The only real exterior litem to note is that the glue is showing where the body side molding have been reattached. The interior is still bright, clean and comfortable, even the driver seat which are normally more worn in these cars. The original door map pockets are still intact which is a great indicator of a careful owner. The only let downs inside are that the rear deck carpet has faded, and there is a small burn hole in the passenger seat - which is odd as this car does not otherwise appear or smell to have been smoked in. Everything works as it should, including the a/c which is one of the reasons to buy a '93 model (since it came with modern R134A freon) From the first test drive, it was very clear that this Volvo is a true low mileage car that has also been properly maintained over the years. The maintenance log book backs this up, with notes all the way to 138k miles showing regular oil changes and service. Our preparation for sale was all really normal age related items such as: oil change, valve cover gasket replaced, cam seals replaced, spark plugs and wires replaced, brake fluid flush, 4 new tires, transmission service, state inspection, new sun visor clips, and a detail. The maintenance book, owners manual, and 6 keys are present. This will be a great car for someone who wants a nice example of a 240. We typically sell these 240's either to folks who are into them, or to families for their young drivers since they are such safe, reliable cars that don't go very fast. For sale is an iconic 1979 Volvo 244DL. The car runs and drives; the engine does not smoke or leak. Transmission shifts as it should , again with no leaks. Overall solid car with a little rust at the base of the windshield, but no water leaking in. The floors, rockers, trunk, and "butt cheeks" are solid. The driver-front fender is dented. The seats and door panels are from a later 240. It will need tires, but can be driven a reasonable bit. Mileage is estimated at 175k+/- because the speedometer does not work; odometer currently reads 157884. Here is a 1986 Volvo 240 DL 4 door sedan. The car has approximately 190000 miles but the odometer quite working recently at 186k. The car runs and drives. It idles a little low but after cleaning the IAC valve it cleared up a bit. Possible leaky injector. (daily driver). The air conditioning compressor recently went out (froze up) so I removed it but will include it for future replacement. The ac compressors belt ran the power steering pump so right now with no ac, no PS. Automatic transmission shifts good and as it should. The overdrive switch on the transmission has been modified so you don't have to push the button anymore to go into 4th gear. The car starts and runs and drives. I drive it daily around 50 miles. Manual windows. Key locks all doors and unlocks all doors, glove box and trunk. Interior is in good condition with no tears or rips. Headliner is vinyl and will outlast the car. Crack in windshield. Needs brake pads and ball joints and tie rod ends sometime soon, has a little wobble at 70mph. The body looks good but does have some scratches, some dings and a few small dents. Car looks good though and recently I compounded the paint and it shines nicely for an original paint job. I will put in a working radio, current one is on the fritz. Recent work in the last few years are rear shocks a few weeks ago as well as the heat pot system which is like a pcv valve, alternator replaced 10/13, Water pump, thermostat, timing belt and belts on 5/12, Used fuel tank, used replacement fuel pumps, new fuel filter, fuel sender gasket, 2 fuel injectors, used AIC motor 4/12, brake master cylinder 9/11, new muffler tail pipe a few months ago, spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor. Car has a few light oil leaks and a light transmission leak. Luckily it isn't bad and it doesn't go near the exhaust. The vehicle history report says one minor accident, The driver front fender is a little faded on top compared to the other, I am assuming this was replaced at one time, no other damage or overspray so it must have been only a fender bender. Also rear bumper was bumped and the driver side is about an inch closer to the car than the passenger side. Very safe car, my son drives one too. If you're local I would consider a trade for a truck.
