This is a 1990 Volvo 240 sedan in need of repair due to long-term storage. It was a very solid, good running vehicle which was parked in order to perform routine repairs and service. It was owned by a local man who was a machinist, and had the car serviced routinely by one of Detroit's best Volvo mechanics. This car has an excellent 4 spd automatic "overdrive" transmission - worth as much or more than the asking price of this sale. The motor was also very good - and still could be with servicing and now minor repair. The basic mechanics are solid and original throughout the car. The worst thing about the car is the paint now - which is primarily a clearcoat problem. The underside of the car has surface rust - but no major rust or structural damage. i bought the car originally because of its good condition - then I was forced to leave the project unfinished due to family issues. This Volvo was in the midst of a complete brake job when it was parked. The original parts are still with the vehicle. It also needed a waterpump, and now will need a battery. I would invest in a complete ignition tuneup, also. storage.The tires are not holding air due to storage This vehicle will have to be towed via flatbed - or trailered. The vehicle is located on a major road in the northern Detroit suburbs - in between I-94 and I-75. If you want this car shipped - you will have to arrange this yourself. It gets about 21 mpg.The bad: A/C does not work - needs new compressorWater Temperature gauge does not work, but cools perfectly.Missing some body trim.Paint is not perfect (but in considerably good shape given the age). Windshield wipers not working (linkage issue - wiper motor works).I have owned this car for over two years as my daily driver. I commute around 15 miles a day but have taken it on many long trips as well. I love this car and have taken very good care of it over this time period. Since I own two near classic vehicles, I have decided to upgrade to something newer, although, I will miss this vehicle greatly! I purchased it two years ago from a man in Ohio who was the 3rd owner. The first and second owners were neighbors in Pennsylvania. I was told the original owner was a Professor and used this vehicle as his/her daily driver as well.
