Okay guys so here’s the deal. You are bidding on a REAL 2004 VW R32 with a whopping 144,000 miles. I bought her in the end of 2014 and drove it for a year, then at the end of 2015 I moved into the city. Unfortunately the car has been driven much less since then, and now I’m at the point where she is just causing more headaches than it’s worth. If I was home and had the time it would be a different story, but that’s where you come in! The Good:- Mechanically she is sound. Brakes are good (and are brand new since the old ones rusted), engine pulls strong and quick, and tires have a good amount of tread left on them.- Since it is a REAL R32 people are always staring. Gear heads will turn and look at your car over the plenty of boring 325i’s and A4’s of the world.- Exterior electrical all works like a charm.- Car will start in 5-degree weather and not even flinch.- Interior (besides electrical issues) is in pretty great shape, especially the seats and footwells (I have the original rubber mats that were sold as an option with the car).- The 6-speed is a beauty and IMMENSELY satisfying to shift with (this was the reason why I fell in love two years ago). The Bad: - In typical German fashion a lot of the electrical is starting to get finicky; the rear wiper, all interior overhead lights, and the driver’s side speaker all don’t work for no good reason (the little tweeter next to the window works but the larger woofer doesn’t). - The whole exhaust line needs some work. The catalytic converter is dying (according to the mechanic I have been going to), and the flex pipe has an actual hole in it. That’s fine if you like to be loud, but it is also preventing the car from getting a proper reading from the converter, which is then throwing off a check engine code. That in turn has prevented me from getting the car re-inspected (because it obviously won’t pass). As you can see this is becoming quite the slippery slope. So as you can see there is work here that needs to be done if she is to return to a drivable condition. It’s not all that much, especially if you intend on replacing it with an aftermarket exhaust anyway, but it is still work that I really don’t have the time for. On top of that, every day that she sits is another day that the rust and the cold eat away at her, and I just can’t bear that. The car deserves so much better. That said because of all these things I’m willing to part with her for a steal. For $6,000 dollars she can be all yours and I can stop worrying about it. A real win-win for everyone.
