Up for auction is a custom 1971 Volkswagen VW Karmann Ghia Lowrider. Per the builder of the car who built this 1 year ago: "I hand hammered the engine cover flat and all of the nose with a torch and a hammer and dolly , all body work is done in metal , car was glazed with a light skim coat of feather weight bondo after metal work , the tail lights are 60 Valiant with hand formed sheet metal surrounds , lenses are hand made , the air beam I built and designed and will drop in the dirt with drop spindles , I took those off to sell car , My friend a Lawyer told me to do so for liability sake ! , air ride I did with 3500 bag in front and dual 2500 in rear , engine has almost no miles , I trailer ed her until I sold her , nothing was done half ass , BUT the Pans are fiberglass over the originals from underneath , EVERYTHING WAS NEW WHEN SOLD, EVERYTHING I MEAN EVERYTHING , TIRES , BRAKES , LINES , TRANSMISSION , ENGINE , EVERY NUT AND BOLT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF HER !!!!!!! BAD ASS CAR , Paint took forever to lay out , Carved the Tiki shift knob while in Hawaii , took 5 first place trophies in 6 shows , featured in Japanese Magazine and on TV three wheelin' on Daytona beach , Dutch TV show feature , Seen her on YOUTUBE also" Please see the pics for additional info. This is a modified 1970 Karmann Ghia, which is a unique, one of a kind car that gets lots of attention and compliments everywhere we take it. It was chopped and turned into a convertible with a roll bar and is now a two-seater. The outer door handles, bumpers, and side windows were removed to drop weight so this car is very light. It has custom vinyl and plastic windows and convertible top that are snapped into place with a button snap system. The top does have some damage as shown in the pictures and should be replaced, but it is useable, although we never drive it with the top on. There is some rust at the bottom of the doors and some goes through, and some rust on the underside of the car, as shown in the pictures. The engine was rebuilt about a year and a half ago and converted from a 1776 to an 1835, with a double barrel 40 Weber single carburetor. It has a manual transmission and when the engine was rebuilt, we also put on a new exhaust, clutch, and brakes. The odometer is not correct so we do not know how many miles the car actually has on it (likely over 100,000). Also, due to an electrical issue, the gas gauge is not currently working. This is NOT a parts car, it runs and drives good and is quick too! We used it as a fun weekend cruising car, and took it to a few car shows, where it got a lot of looks. This is a cool little car and a great project car. If you have any questions about the car, please ask before bidding, as there are NO REFUNDS and the car is being sold AS IS. You will also be responsible for making payment within 3 days of auction end picking up the car or arranging to have it shipped if you do not live local (Tampa, FL) within 7 days from date of purchase.
