1973 Karmann Ghia Coupe. This Ghia was totally restored inside and out in the early 90's with a new 2006cc Gene Berg motor with 5000 miles on it and it has approx.110 hp.It has been driven 7000 miles in total since the restoration and never driven in the winter. This is a no rust car and came from Grand Rapids,Michigan where the previous owner bought it from California in 1985.The car was an occasional Sunday driver and he was maticulous about this car and was pampered by him.The car now resides with me in New Brunswick,Canada and I have put 3000 miles on it since May.The interior is all new with all new window and door seals, carpet, seat upholstery, Grant wood steering wheel,Vintage Speed classic shifter (300.00),deluxe center console, bamboo parcel tray, new dash pad and cover and a modern day cd player with two front kick panel speakers and two rear speakers behind the back seat.In the trunk, there is an empi tool kit just like the old spare tire Hazet ones and a spare tire on a stock rim with cover. The spare American Eagle rim was too wide to fit in the slot. The clock and speedo both work fine. The exterior has recently installed stainless steel bumpers (1500.00),American Eagle 8 spoke wheels with a spare 5th rim (600.00),new Vintage Speed Stainless Steel Exhaust (900.00) and a Stainless Steel luggage rack (300.00). It has a 3 month old paint respray(my choice) in Highland Green (2010 Ford PX) (3000.00) and NO BONDO.All the chrome is in good condition. The car has had one rear floor pan replaced (well sealed) on the passenger side by the previous owner and has zero rust on the undercarriage. The only things that do not work are the rear window defroster, typical for a car this age (you can find a rear window on The Samba if you wish) and the windshield washer but all the hoses and bottle are there. The cost of the engine was 4500.00 back in 92 (receipts supplied). This car is in show condition but best of all it can be a good daily driver.I have numerous receipts for the engine components and other items bought for the restoration from the previous owner and from the upgrades I did myself. This car was maintained by me with regular oil changes and valve adjustments. As you can see in the pics the luggage rack is stainless steel and not the wood slatted one as the slatted one was chrome and I had rust issues with it. If you look at the pic with the stainless trunk rack you will see two small indents in the clearcoat beside each rear leg. These were caused by the feet on the wooden slatted rack which was wider than the stainless one.It would take minor work to get these corrected. The engine specs are as follows:2006 cc Gene Berg Motor Crank 78mm Stroker Balanced flywheel and pressure plate Dual 42 Weber special carb kits (Gene Berg) Valves 38/42 (Gene Berg) Cam 110 w/gear Balanced pistons 90.5mm (Mahle) New case Chromoly push rods with stock rockers 1.1 External Oil filter and cooler (Gene Berg) CSP breather box Bosch 019 distributor not the cheap 009 (Used in the 60's and 70's porsches) The battery does not sit in the engine bay and stick out like a sore thumb. It is concealed in the left rear quarter panel on a battery mount with a hold down bracket keeping the engine bay neat and clean. In the past I have owned a Beetle sedan,Beetle convertible and a VW Thing (all restored by myself). This car drives and handles like a true early sports car and has nice torque with it's 110 HP motor. I fell I would like to move on to a beetle in the 1950's which I have a lead on.If you have any questions please feel free to ask or call 506 333-6724
