1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle Karmann Sun Bug Cabriolet Convertible This vehicle has been fully restored and maintained. Everything is in excellent working condition! Paint is clean and shiny and interior is clean. There are no dents or dings on the body, no rust, no tears or holes in interior seats, etc. Engine runs strong and starts on the first or second try, even after sitting for several weeks. Many older parts have been replaced and the inside of the engine compartment is VERY clean and to stock (have pictures if necessary). Convertible top is original with the white interior and dark brown exterior, with the dark brown canvas cover. There is minor wear in the original top at the linkage joints. This is a 40-year old bug so there are minor leaks that is inherent with owning a bug. Vehicle is in excellent condition and great operational order. Has the spare tire and jack in the trunk. No additional modifications inside or out from the original stock condition. This bug is a frame off restoration to near original factory condition and everything is in excellent working condition! Sun Bug History: The 1974 Karmann Super Beetle Cabriolet was manufactured at the Wilhelm Karmann plant in Osnabruck. Sun Bugs were finished in metallic gold paintwork and interiors that included rosewood dash panels (on the Super Beetle versions), simulated leather padded four spoke sports steering wheel, adjustable sports seats with special Mocha Brown needlecord and leatherette, matching door and side panels and loop pile carpets. I was driving this car up to the end of Dec.This is my old work car, I pulled it in the garage to start fixing the little things it needs, Put new front struts, driver side axle in it took for a test drive and the timing belt tenisoner broke, will need the head pulled. Needs the foam on the heater doors replaced, a light in the dash replaced, seat tracks need some grease, they slide easy but sometimes fail to lock. E brake needs some work, i had the cables replaced but it still is not right. Needs 1 tire, they are mismatched, Driver side window regulator needs replaced. Probably some other little stuff i am missing. I have had this car for a little over a year and put over 30,000 miles on it and it has been great. I am 6 foot 3 a little over 300 lbs and i dont fit in it well and decided not to fix it anymore. The body has dents scratchs minor surface rust, roof has some paint peeling, a small soft spot in floor under passenger seat where the water pooled from the A/C. If you are handy with cars you know all this is a very easy fix ( except the head). I called a local machine shop to check the price of valves, they said worse case would be $300-$400. No shipping, deposit required, balance due cash on pickup within 7 days. I may be able to assist with delivery witin a few hundred miles, you will need to ask before you buy, you will have to pay for the tow dolly and gas. Located in Barton MD 21521. I am selling my 1990 VW Corrado with a TDI swap from a 1996 vw Passat. Many Corrado owners see a TDI swap as a sin but in fact this shell was going to the dump and was saved and converted in to one of the coolest commuter options. The fact of the matter is that we have speed limits, and traffic, and a 90hp corrado can safely get you to 80mph while holding 45-55mpg average. The car is setup with drive by wire. OBD2 and cruise control both work. I did not perform the swap. This was a unique car trade I made with the person who conducted the swap about two years ago. Since my ownership, I replaced the windshield, wheels, window regulator, oil and filter, and some other small things. According to the previous owner the clutch/ flywheel, timing belt/water pump were are swapped about 40,000 miles ago. Some of the upgrades include:Adjustable coilovers Performance chipGlass Passat sunroof Quality stainless exhaust Cross drilled rotors and stainless steel brake hosesOBD2 scan capable Some things that do not work:Electronic seatbelt Adjustable spoilerGlass sunroof Interior light Some paint issues shown in picture include a chip below drivers window, a repair above drivers fender. The exterior rust is very minimal however I did find a small hole, smaller than a quarter in the rear passenger floor (no I can not take pictures). I treated the area from the inside of the car with rust presenter. This is not something exposed to easily get a picture. The mileage reflects the drivetrain swap not the actual car. The actual car mileage is unknown. This car feels safe and ready for road trips. It starts with confident compression, lots of turbo spool, and some cold start squeal from the power pump pulley. I would not hesitate to travel far distances if you buy this car. This is a daily driven corrado. Is this Corrado perfect? The answer is no. it could use some ownership love. This is why I am listing at a mere $4250. A lot of work has gone in to making the swap, purchasing the parts and making it all work. When gas prices go back up, and everyone trades in their TDI from dieselgate, you will be that lucky person to show up in one of the coolest vw's ever made.
