VW issued one Champagne Edition convertible to each U.S. dealership in 1977 and 1978. Also known as a Special U.S. Sales Campaign Model S723. The gold pin stripes on the side are definitive of the Champagne Edition beetles. This one is a true barn find! California car since new. Previously owned by a lady who inherited the car from her father. She parked it in her backyard and put a tarp over it, and that’s exactly how it sat for over 20 years. Odometer reads 18,811 and this is absolutely believed to be true miles. There is surface rust only. It is a time machine! Body is solid, as is the undercarriage. Even the convertible top is in pretty decent condition! This car is a classic restoration project, and would be worth well over $20,000 in restored condition. I put new tires on it (the previous tires were severely rotted), flushed the gas tank, and installed all new fuel lines since having the car shipped here from Riverside, California. It runs like a top! This is a phenomenal find for the true beetle lover and/or collector who is looking for a very collectible beetle to fix up and enjoy, and it will only increase in value as time goes on.
