It was then purchased by Art Thraen (VW Engine builder) and totally restored and used as his daily driver. I purchased this bug 4 years ago and loved driving it every summer. This past summer I had an oil leak on the freeway and killed the awesome motor that Art built. The motor was 2007cc type 1 with 48 IDA Webbers and was totally drivable as a daily driver or sleeper Honda killer!!! So the sad story is I don’t have the money to rebuild a motor so its time to sell until I can come up with the funds to purchase a new VW. It is addictive to be a classic VW owner and driver. This bug is in awesome condition and ready to drop in a motor of your choice, the trans is in perfect shape, a freeway flyer that is very confortable on the freeway as well as the local streets. It has disc brakes all around for great stopping power. Way, way too much to list. I will include all motor parts that are salvageable including weber carbs, intake manifolds, heads that are in good shape and all engine tinwork. Beautiful 1977 VW Beetle convertible. The car runs like a champ, has a brand new top, stunning interior, new battery and 4 new tires with less than 10 miles on them. This is a real head turner and would not take much to get it to show car material. Now it is simply a gorgeous fun car to drive. Many new mechanical's , everything works as it should.
