1973 Volkswagen Classic Super Beetle Very fun to drive and very simple to work on. All new drum brakes, including cylinders, springs, and shoes. New master cylinder. New shift rod bushing and bushing clip. New fuel filter. New Bosch spark plugs (non-platinum which are recommended for Volkswagen engines) and wires. One set of keys. One key is for the driver's door, the second key is for the ignition, and I have never tried the third key. All original glass with no cracks. Slight frosting on bottom of windshield glass. No floor board rust through. Battery box is not rusted through. Heater works! Original, working, AM radio with original dashboard speaker. Some rust on running boards. Painted red at some point. Original color is orange. Paint is peeling on the roof and under the back window. See pictures. Rust spots on both sides under rear windows. See pictures. Mild hail damage on hood. Small dent on front bumper. Washer fluid reservoir which works off of the air pressure from the spare tire. Spare tire included with original jack. Suspect a small leak either under the gas tank or in a gas line near the gas tank. I only suspect this because under the hood and in the cabin, the car smells like gas at times. While this is somewhat common for Volkswagen Beetles to have a gas smell, I have noticed fluid drops under the car when sitting for awhile, which evaporates. Because of the evaporation, I suspect it is gas, as it does not leak oil, transmission fluid, or brake fluid. Crack in dashboard. Has a dashboard cover made for Volkswagen dashboard. Speedometer works; however is not accurate. Therefore, I do not know the original mileage? Gas gauge works; however, is not accurate. Factory installed electric defroster fan. No cracks in steering wheel. Steering wheel cover simply for comfort. Horn included (not original); however, is not hooked up. Tears in front seats. The driver's front seat has been replaced at some point; however, does have tears. All seat belts work. Full shoulder belts in front and lap belts in back. Headliner has some rips. Interior courtesy light works! Back seat was replaced at some point. Shifts nicely. When extremely cold outside, a little effort is needed to get the car into reverse; however, it will always go into reverse. Once warm, no issues. Engine idles very well. Runs very well. I have, at times, used the car as a daily driver without any problems. I have let the car sit for approximately three weeks before without starting it, all in the cold weather. When started again in the cold weather, it started right up. I have a clean Colorado title to this car. I have tried to represent this Volkswagen as well as I could, without hiding any issues. Although it is not perfect or car show ready, it is a very nice Volkswagen. Just the fact that the heater actually works is a nice feature! It can be driven as a daily driver as is, used for cruising, or with minimal work, be a "perfect" Volkswagen Beetle. This car is also listed for sale locally.

Up for sale is my custom 1957 VW Oval Deluxe Beetle. The history and restoration on this car is very extensive. It was professionally built by John Jones of Kustom Coach Werks in Grand Junction, Colorado. John built the car to take to the Bug-In in Las Vegas, where he won 1st place out of over 1500 VWs! A copy of this issue is included with the car. The article discusses the restoration in great detail, along with all the different companies and parts that were used to create this rolling work of art. John started with a rust-free 57’ Oval from Arizona with only 56,000 original miles. Here are the details on the restoration:~ the car was completely disassembled – body separated from the pan~ the underside, engine bay, jams, etc. were all media blasted~ stripped the outside~ sprayed with PPG Orange Glow and Vanilla Shake, PPG clear, wet sand and buff~ installed a 3 ½ inch narrowed beam with adjusters and KYB shocks~ raised the rear spring plates = lowering the rear~ Madson Upholstery installed TMI tan vinyl and oatmeal tweed seat covers and door panels, along with a tan mohair headliner and TMI oatmeal loop carpeting~ Flat-4 Banjo steering wheel with Golden Lady horn button The car was then purchased by a gentleman in Colorado Springs and he continued to make improvements and upgrades to the car. I have receipts of over $9000 (see invoice below) which included: ~ new 2007cc motor (100+ hp), built by Randy Bowen at Sportcar Volkswagen Service Center in Colorado Springs, so it really moves ~ new 4 speed transmission - the transmission was built by Rancho Performance Transaxles in California and the specs are PRO STREET 4.12 ring and pinion, stock ratios 1st - 3rd with close ratio 4th ~ new disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear ~ a high temp finish (Chromex) to the header and muffler ~ powder coating axle tubes, fan shroud, backing plates, etc.Randy has been building and racing VWs for over 35 years. He adjusted the rear brakes and replaced the brake light switch - everything else on the car was in proper working order. Only 1450 miles since its restoration in 2004-2005! The paint is near perfect with no rock chips, scratches or dents. The underside is in showroom condition. The interior is also near perfect with the exception of a few tiny holes in the headliner. The tires and wheels have less than 200 miles on them. Up for grabs is one of the nicer 1959 bugs you'll sell around. It's '59 Ragtop with the full Baja bug kit. It was used in a few actual rally's in the '70's and still has the badges from the rally's that it participated in on the inside of the glove box door, very nostalgic! It has new paint (not show quality, but is very nice). The interior is in pretty great shape with no tears in the seats. The carpet could be replaced and there is no headliner. 1969 Classic VW Beetle This car was intended for a project car to fix up and resell - now its time to find it a good home. New German gaskets replaced around all windows, plus the hood and trunk lids. New high gloss red paint - over the winter it had a bubble appear on the left rear finder near the gasket there apparently where the paint guy taped off :-/ can be fixed with touchup paint. 1600 CC engine has been fine tuned so she has lots of pep! NO LEAKS OR DRIPS!!! These goodyear tires with wide white walls really set off the car and a real head turner as it cruises down the street. The interior has been redone but has the original headliner and steering wheel - black leatherette seats and black door panels. After market seat belts and a very nice Alpine BluTooth stereo with Bose speakers in the back. The side front windows pop out as well as the back windows all with their original hardware and work nicely.

This Auction is for a 1973 Volkswagen Bug with EMPI GTV equipment. This an awesome little car that gets compliments everywhere I go! I hate to use the term "Barn find" but when I bought this car, it had been sitting in a garage untouched for many years and I have taken great care to preserve the originality of the car while at the same time making it into a fun, safe, reliable driver. The paint is largely original and it was professionally polished to a high shine. In addition to the original paint and EMPI C-stripes, the exterior of the car features front and rear gravel guards, a fuel door trim, bumper guards and of course, the EMPI Sprint Star wheels - hard to find 4.5" front with 135/15 tires and 5.5" out back with 165/15 tires. I also installed, genuine Hella taillight assemblies, a new windshield and seal as well as new seals for the 1/4 windows and rear window. The interior was in pretty sad shape so I installed new door panels, headliner, carpet and sun visors, as well as reupholstering the front and rear seats. The dash only has couple cracks, so I left it alone. It also has wooden dash panels, knobs and window cranks. The original AM/FM radio is still there and works pretty well too. The last thing I put inside the car was a set of new EMPI logo floor mats to spice it up a little. The front and rear seatbelts are still intact too. I lowered the car up front with a 2" narrowed adjustable beam with new ball joints, 2.5" lowering spindles and a 1 spline drop out back. It has disc front and drum rear brakes with new hoses all around new rear wheel cylinders, shoes and new master cylinder too. The engine is a 1600 Dual port that I had rebuilt a few years ago and previously had installed in a Karmann Ghia. I just gave it a complete tune up and valve adjust as well as installing a new carburetor and Bosch 009 distributor. I would estimate the mileage on the engine to be around 20k. As far as I know the EMPI GTV bugs were a dealer installed accessory package and there were four trim levels available. Unfortunately they didn't keep records on them so there is no way to tell what each car had when it was delivered. I do know that they are fairly rare cars and do not come up for sale very often so when I had the chance to buy this thing, I jumped on it. I've enjoyed having it but another project has come up so I'm going to let it go. Don't miss the opportunity to by this car and be the hit of every VW show you attend or just have a ball cruising it around like I have. I am sure that I have missed some things that I have put on the car. The goal with this car was to have a comfortable driver with the classic patina. With that said the body is not perfect and shows its age being a 42 year old car. There are scratches and dents, but don’t judge this book by its cover. The drive train and suspension is all top notch. This car drives great down the road and is very comfortable with the new interior.
