That's because there simply isn't any car with a better combination of timeless style, cool engineering and big-time affordability than a vintage VeeDub. From a collector's standpoint, they're plentiful, fun, easy to live with classics that enjoy a cult-like following and a positively gigantic support system. And from an enthusiast's standpoint, cars like this awesome '63 Beetle - available for less than $20K, are such great buys that they're almost riot-inducing! If you're looking for one of the coolest and most unique classics your money can buy, welcome to the 'people's car'! BODY Sporting a slick combination of Beryl Green and Pearl White 2-stage, this fully-sorted and completely road ready Beetle has, at some point, benefitted from a well done restoration. And while its body isn't concours perfect, it is very straight and carries a spectacular shine that will look excellent motoring down the road to either a VW show or your favorite local hang-out. Being that the Beetle is one of the most popular and longest running brands of all time, you only need a few contacts and a little bit of luck to find almost any replacement part the car might need. Accordingly, this bug's body features a ton of factory-correct bolt-ons. Up front, a classic curved bonnet hangs bright trim and old school VW emblems between a guarded bumper, classy horn grilles and Hella headlights. Behind that bonnet, small wipers, elegant mirrors and correct door handles flank stainless-trimmed Sekurit glass. Below those mirrors, traditional profile trim and metal running boards frame beefy stone shields, chrome-trimmed turn signals and a gnarly antenna. At the back of the car, traditional taillights illuminate a sculpted decklid, euro-spec fog lamps, polished exhaust and a guarded bumper. And at the top of the car, a vintage luggage rack adds practicality and personality. DRIVETRAIN Powering this groovy bug is a 1,776cc four cylinder that mixes just the right amount of bling with just the right amount of power. At the sides of the pint-size block, two polished air cleaners funnel wind through two Weber 2-barrels. A hot Compu-Fire coil bounces spark through a traditional points distributor and Bosch 7mm Ultra-Premium plug wires. Spent gases roll through a polished aftermarket header and polished aftermarket muffler. And attractive pulleys spin a fresh V-belt between chrome engine cowls and a snazzy CPR oil filler. Like the rest of the car, the tidy engine bay is reliable, road ready and nice enough to display. And there are plenty of cool add-ons, like stainless fuel lines, chrome bonnet hinges and a chrome dipstick. Take a look under this solid VeeDub and you'll find a straight chassis that's no stranger to the open road. The flat-four engine twists power to a traditional 4-speed transaxle. Front disc and rear drum brakes bring everything to a quick standstill. The car's torsion bar and independent suspensions have been completely rebuilt at some point, presently featuring KYB front shocks and air-filled rear shocks. And at the corners of the car, attractive EMPI Sprintstars spin 145/65R15 Continental ContiEcoContact EPs in front of 165/80R15 Nexen SB-802s. INTERIOR Pop this coupe's solid closing doors and you'll find a restored vinyl interior that's the perfect spot to spend a summer afternoon cruising! All four passengers, assuming two of them are very short, enjoy pleated vinyl seats and retrofitted safety belts. In front of those seats, a painted and chrome-trimmed dash hangs factory telemetry beside direct-fit, MP3-compatible audio. That seat and dash combo is retro-cool when framed in the car's tweed carpet, perforated headliner and plaid door panels. The driver stays connected to the road thanks to a snazzy EMPI GT steering wheel. The passengers stay entertained thanks to big Sony Xplod speakers. And everyone stores gear behind a small spare tire in the car's spacious front hatch. No matter the car, completing a reliable, fully sorted restoration is very expensive. Fortunately, you can walk right in to our RK Motors Charlotte showroom and make another person's loss your big gain! If you're looking for something that's fun, unique and stuffed with charming character, this super cool Beetle is your next classic. Take a look at this 1973 Super Beetle and tell me what you think. With an upgraded engine, a sporting exhaust note, and a somewhat sinister look despite the bright yellow paint, this Bug will definitely make you smile. For years we've been under-estimating the humble Beetle, and even those that have bright paint like this one tend to get overlooked. Well, that stops now, because this car looks great. The yellow paint is exactly the right shade, neither too dark nor too bright, and it works especially well with the tinted glass and black wheels. Fit and finish are above average for a Beetle, with doors that close easily and a hood that doesn't wiggle on the road. The Super Beetle includes various upgrades including a curved front windshield, a longer hood, a more sophisticated front suspension setup, and bigger marker lights, and while some purists prefer the look of the older cars, all those upgrades are very welcome here. Bright chrome bumpers, matching stainless body trim, and, of course, running boards all retain the stock look. The all-black interior is pure VW function, with tall buckets and durable vinyl seat covers that wear like iron. There are few upgrades inside aside from the tall chrome shifter that makes a noticeable difference in shift feel, and even the dash is still the simple single-instrument setup that they all used. The door panels may very well be original to the car and the back seat looks almost completely unused. Gray carpets offer a bit of contrast and brighten things up a bit, and work well with the aftermarket steering wheel wrapper. The original AM radio still lives in the dash and the heater system is still only adequate, but that's OK because this car grew up someplace warm and its daily driver days are behind it. The forward trunk is in good condition with no signs of issues. Volkswagen's familiar 1600 cc flat four is a paragon of reliability, but thanks to a few small upgrades, this one is also quite entertaining to drive. The numbers on the block actually suggest that this is a Porsche engine, and given how well this one runs, that's not hard to believe. A fresh carburetor, tune-up parts, and heater tubes suggest that the engine has been well-maintained, and the way it runs is proof. A custom exhaust system with single chrome pipe makes for a dramatic statement that sounds particularly cool coming from the familiar Bug. The floors are in good order, although it appears that this car has never needed a frame-off restoration or even major floor work as is common with so many of its siblings. The suspension and brakes are largely stock, so you don't have to worry that some amateur has messed up the geometry, and with those fat wheels and tires, it's quite nimble around town. Those black wheels look a lot like vintage Minilites and with the polished outer rim, they give the Beetle a very sporting look. More fun than something this affordable should be, this Super Beetle covers the basics and delivers a few upgrades that make it more than the sum of its parts. Then there are the few like this 1979 Volkswagen Beetle convertible that have all the right features to make you want to do both. When it comes to owning a convertible Bug, 1979 was the final year of a legend and the best of a breed. Volkswagen knew how to produce these bodies with a Teutonic tightness that was still simple to maintain. It is a level of fit and finish that makes the Beetle an enduring icon. Adding to this durable feeling is a recent respray of the original River Blue color. It was a meticulous paintjob with plenty of shine to highlight all the curves of the Beetle body. The black vinyl roof gives this a bit of aggression, and the eight-spoke alloy wheels are a nice sporty touch. Take a peek inside. If the exceptionally clean black interior looks slightly different from all the other Beetles you've seen that's probably because this one has been upgraded to leather. The high-back bucket seats that came on the later models are particularly comfortable for all-day cruising. Another nice feature is a newer AM/FM/CD stereo with more powerful speakers in the kick panels. After all, who wants to hit the road without their sounds, especially in a car that just screams 'summertime fun' like this one. And for an extra sporty touch, there is a new three-spoke GT steering wheel. Still, even with all these upgrades, the interior of this VW continues to carry that simple and sturdy feeling that comes from decades of building these cars correctly. VW's standard 1600 cc flat-four was the sole powerplant, but while the last few years came with fuel injection, this one has been replaced by a carburetor. In the Beetle world this is a welcomed change because it makes the engine more reliable, easier to service, and opens the door wider to the vast catalog of VW cheap-n-easy parts available to you. This is linked to the sturdy and versatile four-speed manual transmission, which allows you to get the most out of the motor. As many VW fans already know, this is a Super Beetle. That means an improved steering box, bigger brakes, and a new MacPherson strut front end suspension. So for those who want to drive their classics, this is one of the nicest ways to experience a vintage VW. Beetle ownership is a great experience that ranges from the social camaraderie of the many available clubs, to the simple parts that make maintenance/upgrades part of a fun weekend project. Of course, it doesn't hurt that you can get into this perfect turnkey ragtop VW for under $20K. If you're looking for one of the best and most unique rides your money can buy, welcome to the 'people's car'! Sporting a clean coat of bright red paint, this fully-sorted and completely road ready Beetle is the beneficiary of a thorough, frame-off restoration that likely doubled our asking price. And while its body isn't perfect, it is very straight and carries a smooth shine that will look excellent motoring down the road to either a VW show or your favorite local hang-out. The restorers began by stripping the car's solid fuselage to bare metal and smoothing and prepping each of its panels. Once those panels were completely flat, and aligned to better than factory standards, they were evenly coated in a high quality, two-stage urethane and buffed to a mirror-like shine. The end result is one sharp, well-aligned bug with a top notch appearance that'll provide years of worry-free fun! Being that the Beetle is one of the most popular and longest running brands of all time, you only need a few contacts and a little bit of luck to find almost any replacement part. And as you might imagine, this bug's body features a ton of factory-correct bolt-ons. At the front of the car, a classic curved bonnet hangs bright chrome trim and traditional Volkswagen emblems between a straight bumper, chrome horn grilles, sealed headlights and bullet-style turn signals. Behind that bonnet, an elegant chrome mirror, straight stainless trim and two correct door handles flank like-new greenhouse glass. Below that mirror, traditional bear claw hinges combine with new running boards and a small, vertically anchored antenna to remind us of this restored Type 1's true age. And at the back of the car, a sculpted decklid hangs between painted tail lights, a second chrome bumper, an oval rear window, and polished and bridged exhaust tips. Powering this classy '56 Beetle is a 1200cc four cylinder that mixes subdued aesthetic bling with a solid 36 horsepower. Based on sound and appearance, the peppy engine has been completely rebuilt sometime in the not too distance past; and it runs beautifully, creating that famous and distinctive VW gait which has become synonymous with all boxer engines. At the top of the pint-size block, a traditional oil bath air cleaner funnels wind into a fresh 1-barrel Solex carburetor that's piped into an old school fuel pump. Behind that carburetor, a traditional coil sparks a correct points distributor that's snapped onto fresh silicone plug wires. To the right of that distributor, a small generator spins a pliable V-belt under a familiar "BOSCH" branded voltage regulator. Like the rest of the car, the engine bay is clean, road ready and nice enough to set up at any show. And with its high quality components, fresh gaskets and low maintenance design, the air-cooled mill will likely putter along forever! Take a look under this solid VeeDub and you'll find a straight, fully-sorted chassis that's seen plenty of dry roads and years of impeccable maintenance. The car's torsion bar front and independent rear suspensions have been completely rebuilt at some point, and feature weather-free bushings and pliable shocks. At the ends of those suspensions, manual drum brakes are all it takes to bring this welterweight bug to a standstill stop. At the back of the car, power flows from the flat-four engine into a rugged 4-speed manual transaxle. And at the corners of the car, painted steel wheels spin 165R15 Big O Radialmax tires around bright trim rings and dent-free center caps. The bottom of this Beetle is 100% road ready from its front control arms all the way to its true dual exhaust. And you can cruise down the strip with the confidence of knowing there aren't any hidden surprises waiting for you just below its surface. Pop open this coupe's solid closing doors and you'll find a restored vinyl interior that's the perfect spot to spend a summer afternoon cruising! All four passengers, assuming two of them are very short, enjoy firm, pleated seats. In front of those seats, a painted and chrome-trimmed dash hangs a large VDO speedometer above simple accessory knobs. At the base of that dash, a wonderfully vintage shifter snakes up from coated, low-maintenance floorpans. At the edges of those floors, fully painted door frames contrast well with two-tone side panels. And above those panels, a tight tan headliner frames dark-tinted sun visors. Keeping the driver connected to the road is a restored and Volkswagen branded steering wheel that makes good use of the car's small turning radius. And keeping the passenger's trip gear stowed is a fully finished hatch which centers a fifth Big O Radialmax in front of a surprising amount of cargo space. No matter the car, executing a roadworthy restoration is a very expensive proposition. Fortunately, you can walk right into our RK Motors Charlotte showroom and make one man's loss your big gain for less than the price of a new Golf. If you're looking for a fun and unique classic that's stuffed with charming VW character and so much more, this fully-sorted Type 1 is your ticket! This 1974 example has that unassuming Beetle look and drives superbly thanks to those many upgrades the Super Beetles received. Finished in traditional Sahara Beige, when you drive this car everybody is your friend. Sure, the Beetle was practical, economical, and sturdy, but the undeniable cuteness factor is what made them a success, both then and today. They were also prone to rust, so finding one as clean as this, that has lived its entire life in the south, is doubly important. From the paint, which was redone not too long ago and still has a great shine, to the chrome and trim, this car shows all the evidence you'd need to prove that it has always been loved. Accessories include the headlight and window visors, both in chrome, and all of it is in excellent condition. Super Beetles are easy to spot with their curved windshields, larger marker lights, and some additional chrome, giving this one a very familiar look. The brown vinyl interior is classic Beetle, with firm, supportive buckets and trademark textured seating surfaces. The stuff wears like iron, and still looks to be in excellent shape inside this charming little coupe. Matching door panels continue the simple VW theme, adding map pockets in the doors that are actually quite useful. Black carpets offer the correct German square-weave pattern and are nicely bound, showing great attention to detail on the part of the factory. A single gauge is all the Beetle ever offered, combining the speedometer with a small fuel level gauge, and the markings are clear. There's a newer AM/FM stereo fitted in the dash, but otherwise this one is completely as the factory built it. The front trunk compartment is also nicely finished with no issues lurking under the fitted cardboard liners and you can see that the repaint was thorough because there's no trace of the original paint anywhere. With looming emissions regulations on the horizon, even the Beetle was not immune, but for 1974, a carburetor was still standard equipment, and that's how most enthusiasts prefer it. The engine is actually an earlier 1970-71 1600 cc flat four with an "AE" block. There's a big generator up top and a correct Bosch distributor cap, the factory-issued air cleaner which looks big enough for a fire truck, and the proper hot air tubes remain in place so it heats and cools like it should. The 4-speed shifts, well, like a VW Beetle, so it might need a little familiarity, but if you've driven one before, you'll feel right at home here. There's no sign of rust underneath that we can tell, even in the primary trouble spots that all Beetles must face like the battery box and under the rear seat, and it is all finished in basic black so it's tidy but remains low maintenance. Simple steel wheels and shiny hubcaps are fitted inside a set of recent 165/80/15 blackwall radials for a period-perfect look that's exactly right on this little Bug. High-quality Beetles won't be this affordable for much longer, the market is moving. Always a favorite car, now the Beetle can also be considered a favorite collector car. And when you look at cars like this '69 Volkswagen, its hard to argue with them. This nicely finished 1969 Beetle isn't wildly modified, but has enough special touches to make it stand out in the crowd without altering its basic character. Shiny deep blue paint looks great on the trademark Beetle curves and it really shows off the chrome detailing. We have seen a continued rise in interest in early VW's. Clearly someone spent some time ensuring that the body was well taken care of. If you are a true fan of the VW Beetles you won't be disappointed as the classic lines of this 2 -door coupe are beautiful. There's a single pinstripe running the length of the body that dresses it up, and the chrome appears to be excellent and original. At the base of the doors you'll find grey running boards that give the vehicle an upgraded feel. There's also a charming luggage rack that's a desirable period accessory that really gives the Bug some personality along with functionality. This fun car is ready to roll and will surely add a little flare of style to your weekend trip. This slick Bug looks awesome inside too, with a dark black vinyl upholstery and all of the simple charm intact. Flip the front seats forward and you'll expose the low-back seats that show little to no wear. The door panels, that feature the built-in map pockets, are nicely finished and the black carpets appear to be near new. In the center of the instrument panel, that is painted to match the exterior, is the signature VW single gauge. The simple single gauge offers speed and fuel level, but precious little else, but these little cars tend to be so reliable that keeping a constant eye on them isn't really necessary. There is, however, an upgraded AM/FM stereo system that includes a hookup for your iPhone/iPod. The front luggage compartment is trimmed to match and continues the restored theme. Powering this nice little 'bug' is an air-cooled 1500 cc flat 4 cylinder that provides a great sound and adequate 53 horsepower. Pulled from a '67 beetle, the little engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and it exhales exhaust gasses through what appears to be a factory style exhaust system producing that distinctive VW sound. Beetles are known for being extremely simple and easy to work on, and that's how things remain underneath. In fact, an engine can be removed in about a half hour. There are no frills or fancy bits underneath, just an extremely clean chassis that is ready to continue adding on some miles with its new owner. Stopping power comes courtesy of 4-wheel drum brakes, and in front of those brakes you'll find 15" steel rims that still hold the chrome VW branded hubcaps. To this day, the Beetle is still an affordable classic car that you don't have to feel guilty about taking out on the open road. However, one this nice won't last long under our showroom lights. Regretfully I must part ways with this excellent car meticulously restored by experienced VW experts. College tuition expenses are calling! The car is in excellent condition in all regards- mechanically, electronically, cosmetically and rust-free. Most of the car is original, and where replacements were needed, German parts were used. Here are some of the items completed on this vehicle with 81k original miles: New top, pad, headliner, seals and window rubber. New seat covers and padding. New carpet, insulation and rubber flooring. New German running boards. Brand new tires. New brake shoes, cylinders and lines. New fuel tank, fuel lines and sending unit. Newly rebuilt engine with original fuel injection and new fuel pump. New engine seal, hoses, lines, injectors and plugs. Newly chromed original German bumpers with very rare bumper overriders with new seals and impact strip. Chrome elsewhere in excellent shape. All electrical functions work properly. New windshield, seal and chrome strip. Paint job was done prior to my ownership last year and is in excellent shape. Convertible top boot included. Glass is in great shape, top seals and window seals all great. Equipped with optional VW sport wheels and bumper overrides. Also a rare option- the original radio block plate is still intact. This is a rare chance to buy a classic VW and simply drive it- no list of "things needed.....". If you have questions feel free to call me at seven oh four five one seven six seven 4 seven.

If you grew up in the '70s and '80s, you enjoyed the little car's exploits on the big screen, and underneath you'll find a sturdy, solid little VW so even if you're not a Love Bug fan, this car has a lot to offer. There was a time in the mid-70s when every kid in America could identify this car from a mile away. White VW Beetles were sprouting red and blue stripes and a big '53' on the doors to emulate the plucky little car with a big attitude, so this car is definitely going to take you back. The good news is that it's quite solid and ready to enjoy. No, it's not perfect, but neither was the real Herbie, although this one has a wonderful soft shine to the paint that looks quite period-perfect. The graphics are well done such that there's no denying the inspiration for this Bug's restoration. Fit and finish are decent all around and even without the stripes and gumballs, this would be a smart buy just because it's in such good shape. It still offers early Beetle styling cues like the flat windshield and smaller fender and rear marker lights, making it a favorite among VW enthusiasts. The chrome is quite good, the glass is in great shape, and the running boards are nicely trimmed. It's standard VW fare inside, with high-back buckets covered in textured vinyl that's virtually indestructible. There are a few signs of use, with some stretching on the lower driver's cushion, but there are no major rips or tears in the upholstery. The racing stripe theme continues with white instrument panel inserts and a matching glove box lid which wears blue and red stripes and another '53' gumball, which is a nice touch. The original speedometer/fuel gauge setup gives you the basics and the factory steering wheel now wears a black leather wrap to help you get a better grip, even when you're not racing through Monte Carlo. There is an AM/FM stereo radio in the dash, which is probably more than you could say for the movie car, and it actually sounds decent. New floor coverings were surely installed not too long ago, and the door panels are excellent, suggesting that someone has been taking care of this car properly. The front trunk is quite well finished and includes a jack and lug wrench assembly. VW's familiar 1600 cc flat-four whistles away under the rear deck. Now if you've seen the movies, you know that Herbie is able to handily outrun a Jaguar E-Type, but I assure, that is not the case here. However, you do get a very nicely finished engine with lots of upgrades that make it one of the more sprightly VWs we've featured in a long time. Plenty of chrome, fresh ignition components, and a bright red crank case ensure that it looks great and runs well. The 4-speed is typical VW vague, but the suspension feels buttoned-down and competent and the dual exhaust system gives it that traditional VW sound. Color-matched steel wheels with hubcaps and fat 235/60/14 Firestone radials add to the race car look and suit the Beetle just fine. For those of you who had a happy memory at the sight of this car, it's an opportunity to relive you childhood. For the rest of you, it's simply a great VW at an equally great price.
