1969 VW Type 1 Original CA Sunroof Beetle. No Rust. Original Savannah Beige paint with excellent shine and patina. 1 owner car until earlier this year when Honest Engine Acquired it out of long term storage. Car was used as and airplane hanger shuttle vehicle and always stored indoors. Certificate of Authenticity. 94,000 original miles with less than 100 on entire build. Body: Totally rust / accident free all original panels with exception to the sunroof which has been repainted and rebuilt with new cables. Perfect front and rear aprons. New fender beading. New chrome nerf bars (original bumpers and black and yellow plates included ). All new lights running lights and seals. NOS/OEM green dot Talbot driver and passenger side mirrors. Car has a few light dings and bangs, all could be cosmetically removed while maintaining the correct patina. Custom, color matched left over paint from the sunroof repaint is included. Motor / Trans: Completely rebuilt 1641cc with less than 100 miles by Honest Engine ( 1000's of VW motor rebuilds through 2 generations and 4 decades experience ). CB short Block, Counter weighted crank, I beam rods, Straight cut cam gears, AA piston & cylinders, New single port heads, Full flow oil pump, Deep sump, CB ignition, Rebuilt Carb, Lightened flywheel, New motor mounts, Seals, Empi, polished dual exhaust. Motor runs fantastic with lots of power. Transmission is original and geared for freeway (70mph easy). New Optima Yellow top battery and New Starter. Custom fiberglass wide fenders and hood complete the custom look of this car. A few minor chips in the paint can be found at the front but overall the paint is in great condition. BRM wheels up front and genuine Michele wheels in the rear. A custom and functional rag top assembly was installed at the time of bodywork. Headlamps are by Speedway Motors and custom tail light round out the rear end. Interior A custom interior and carpeted trunk with converted high to low-back seats of an earlier design with a Sony blu-tooth deck and four Xplode speakers round out the inside. Dash paint isn’t the best but a replacement, US made dash is included with the purchase of the car. Some minor scuffs in the interior can be found from use, mostly confined to the door panels from exit. Mechanical A.J. Simms of lowbugget.com prepped the 1915cc engine with an Engle 110 cam, Scat “volkstroker” forged crank, big valve heads and higher ratio rocker arm assemblies, Mahle forged pistons all installed and “accuracy honed” by A.J. Sims. Additionally, an add-on slim line oil sump, powered oil cooler with conventional filter using aircraft oil line fitments were added to the engine. The engine features powder-coated bright work tins and an A-1 “sidewinder” tuck-away exhaust system that’s also powder coated. Suspension is KYB Gas-a-just shocks with all new rear brakes and Karman Ghia front discs. All wheel and axle bearings replaced along with new CV axles. Transmission is a Rancho built “Pro-Street” with highly desirable “freeway flyer” ring and pinion which helps move the car along easily at freeway speeds. There is almost too much to list as there was a lot of time, money and top shelf aftermarket parts put into this car. The car runs and drives very well.
