They are fetching a high price because they are hard to find. Families are using huge SUVs and Mini-vans to take the place of the custom vans. But if you take long trips like I do, there is nothing more comfortable than a conversion van for personal use. I’ve owned Chevy, Dodge and Ford custom vans. In my opinion, Chevy drives the best. I purchased this van on eBay around April of this year. The seller didn’t mention the amount of work required for this van. He painted a picture of minor work. I asked plenty of questions about the van before I came to get and most where answered. When I drove up 3 ½ hours to get it, it was only then that I knew the true condition of the van. There was snow on the ground and it was snowing that day. I couldn’t get a good look at the chassis. The body work was extensive. I brought the van at a lower price than the final sale price because the seller didn’t honestly disclose the amount of rust work to the rockers. I drove it home and luckily it made it with no problems. I brought it used with high mileage and knew what had to be done. I replaced the Radiator, MAF Sensor, Tires, Front Rotors, bearings and Brakes, Rear Shocks, Both Catalytic Converters, Oxygen Sensors, Starter and Left front Caliper. I also gave it a full tune up (plugs, wires, fuel filter, PCV] and oil change. The total of this work was over 3K and receipts from mechanic to prove it. The Engine and Transmission are 100% working condition. The van passes NYS inspection in May 2015. The mechanical work that needs to be done is front shocks, rear wheel bearings and power steering leak. The body has minor scratches all around the van. The Bodywork that needs to be done is both left and right side rocker panels. The side door and rear doors need to have lower door skins replaced. The running boards are fiberglass and need extensive work on both sides. I also notice the front bumper has a scrape on it The interior needs a professional cleaning but right now it’s passable for me as an everyday van. I did some spot cleaning of the carpet and quite bit dirt lifted out. Soda stains on the rear of the carpet where impossible for me to get out. The reason why I’m selling is that I just received a newer van and I have no need for this one. I like my vehicles running well and body straight and clean. This van, for the most is that. It needs a final bit of bodywork and some slight mechanical repairs. Then it will be ready for great open road cross-country driving to which it was intended for.
