Super Wide Body MR2 TurboFully Custom Modified One-off Widebody What began as a concept turned into reality after years of planning, preparation and execution. It started with an idea to create a widebody MR2 wider than TRD without looking obtrusive or overdone - to make it look as if it was built from the factory. The TRD wide body has been a popular modification for many sw20 owners since its inception. Yet upon carefull scrutiny, the so called TRD wide body is actually not that wide at all. So with plenty of trial and error, a finalized version of a WIDER MR2 was conceptualized to bring out the full potential of what an exotic looking MR2 would look like. After 3 years of hit and miss from body work done by lesser skilled shops, a master body shop that specialized in classic exotic cars finally took on the task to turn concept into reality, creating the wider front, fenders, side skirts, and rear. Everything that had to do with this full custom bodywork, including final prepping took approximately 3 years in the making. The result, a Super Widebody that is wider than any TRD wide body kit out there. Yet, even upon close scrutiny, the extreme width does not look like it was slapped on - rather, as if it was made for the MR2 itself.Fully Custom Dashboard & Camera System To make the interior as unique and striking as the custom wide body, ideas where tossed around on how to go about installing a one-of-a-kind vehicle surveillance system. Keep in mind that this was Y2K time and factory cars where not equipped with back up cameras yet. The whole concept of having 6 cameras from all angles of any car was unheard of, even in today's standards. To make this work, we had to use ingenuity. Remember, this is a one-off multimedia system that cannot be purchased anywhere. First, the dashboard was taken out to be molded and house the monitors, gauges, and switches. The center console was redone to fit a giant 10" monitor and a top dash for a 7.5" heads up display. Experts in the field of car multimedia (not merely car audio installers) retrofitted the massive monitors that connect to the custom switches and 6x cameras outside the vehicle. In essence, there are 6 cameras all around the car that can be viewed from the 10" monitor and 7.5" heads up display. The turn signal modules show the side of the vehicle where the turn signals are being used. The passenger side has 3 gauge pods with Greddy gauges tailored to face the driver. The ashtray has been modified for custom monitor switches. Other custom switches are located on the headliner, controlling the quad splitter seen through the giant monitors. Red suede and leather covers up the doors, seats, and so on. Other accessories accent the interior, such as the TRD short shifter, the Sparco Racing Wheel, and the Racing harness. Big Brakes - Remote Fuel Door - Custom Intercooler - 3 Piece Wheels - Greddy PE Exhaust - Quad HIDsThis whole project is filled with custom and aftermarket parts. The Big Brakes still have plenty of life left as this car is hardly ever driven. The Tein coilovers are kept at a low but manageable ride height. The Aluminum Fuel Door is powered by remote control that open and closes it. This custom fuel door setup alone cost a grand to complete plus the aluminum fuel door itself. The Custom Intercooler is a trunk mount design that sits flush in the back. This intercooler setup sits on top of the trunk (not the bottom which is an easier modification to do). Underneath the intercooler sits 2x custom SPAL fans that can be turned on or off and a custom aluminum funnel to drain water during the rainy season. The 3-piece wheels where created just for this car and are now powder coated gunmetal color. Of course, if you wanted to go wider you can as this still has an additional 1.5" spacers on both the front and rear wheels. And unlike the TRD guys who have to camber out so much just to fit wider wheels, with this Super Widebody, you don't have to. As you can see, there is virtually no camber on the wheels even with the spacers. Imagine if you wanted to go massive. You could fit the widest and deepest wheels on this super widebody mr2 that other stanced riders could only dream of. The rear exhaust is the original Greddy Power Extreme that has been discontinued and no longer made. And the custom quad HID headlights came straight from Japan and are not the cheap ones you see out there.Wider than any TRD wide body kitThe Super Widebody mr2 is noticeably wider than any TRD kit from every angle. But again you must see and compare them in person. Pictures don't do it any justice. In fact, this custom wide body blends so neatly to this MR2 that from photos you would think that it came designed with the car. To make the comparison, put this Superwidebody MR2 next to any TRD wide body. Take some measurements with a tape if you're still skeptical (as with what some TRD owners have done so in the past) and compare the numbers. Here are some numbers for you: TRD wide body front fender is 6.5" wide vs Superwidebody front fender is 8.5" wide, TRD wide body rear fender is 7.5" wide vs Superwidebody rear fender is 12" wide; TRD wide body side skirt is 3" wide vs Superwidebody side skirt is 6" wide; and this obvious difference in width between the TRD and the Superwidebody goes with the rest of the body. And while the fenders and side skirts are much wider than any TRD wide body, the shape and overall design of the Super widebody was made to blend in contours of the MR2 body style so as to make it look as if the wide body came from factory. NOTE: While this Super widebody MR2 was created to be much wider than any TRD kit, no expense was spared in creating, installing, and prepping this body to fit into the MR2's frame. This is not your average kit or bodywork done at someone's garage or fly by night tuner shop. This custom fabrication was created, prepped, and put together by a master bodyman who only worked on classic Porsches and Mercedes. This is the kind of body work that you will only find on classic cars and other expensive high end cars. That's the type of effort, time, and investment used to create this masterpiece.Built Engine & Turbo Kit The engine was built with forged internals, Exedy clutch, replaced all hoses, belts, gaskets, remove and replace long block, resize rods, engine balancing, reseal transmission assembly, and the list goes on. T3/T4 Turbo kit with custom intercooler piping, HKS Fcon Vpro engine management, HKS knock amp, Fuel rail kit, 720cc injectors, fuel pressure regulator, Walbro fuel pump, Blitz Air filter, Blitz boost controller, some Tuning. Since the motor build, approximately 1k miles was put on it. Many, many, many more MODS There are plenty of mods that I can't keep track of and may have missed. This includes all the gauges, the custom on/off switch for the fuel tank gauge (you can put it on empty while entering a car show so you don't have to drive around to leave 1/4 gas during indoor car shows), the removable Carbon Fiber wing, the Carbon Fiber hood with gold sparkles, the tow hooks custom installed, the night camera on the front, the Tein coilovers, and all the custom LED lighting that lights up the intercooler, CF hood vents, front bumper, interior lighting (all from the remote key) and many mods I just can't recall all of them. This project was literally years in the making with all types of mods added all the time. First Place Accolades in Every Competition The Superwidebody MR2 Turbo spent all its modified days as a true show car. So many modifications, so much time, so much money invested. I have all the books of receipts that total to just about 100k. Nowadays, it's nearly impossible to do this kind of custom work, not just because of the $$$, but because the great and creative shops are no longer in the Tuner business. I've already done so much to this car. But life goes on and perhaps it's time to let someone else enjoy the perks of having this custom ride. Most of the mods are already complete. In fact, it can be driven to any show or car meet. But there are a few things that need fixing: The remote actuator on the remote fuel door must be replaced in order to use the remote. Otherwise it must be opened and closed manually. There are some scratches on the driver side skirt which was done by the people who worked on the car. I had the car updated last year and the mechanic refreshed the turbo and did some minor tuning. In the process, he scratched the side skirt (nothing major). Also, I took out the amps under the hood, the woofers on the back, and the sound system to save some weight. I still have all the parts if someone wants to put it back. And lastly, if you want to push the car to its limits a major tune must be done. I can recommend a great Tuner who works on the MR2. Remember this is not your average MR2 Turbo, not even your average Wide body MR2. This is a fully custom Super Widebody MR2 Turbo that was driven solely to the shows and magazine shoots. It was never meant to be a daily driver, only a showstopper! I'm selling my 1994 black mr2 Turbo. It is loaded and has every option for the year. Car is from Texas so no rust and clean underbody etc. The interior is one of the cleanest you will ever find for a mr2 that is 20 yrs old. Many new parts.... New shift boot, new Floormats,full-tune up with all new ignition stuff,cap,rotor,plug wires,spark plugs and front tires all brand new. Brand new 20% window tint. T-tops seals are good and NO LEAKS (yes rare also I know) seats have not one tear in them and they are original. Modifications: ct20b turbo(spools way faster than stock turbo and pulls to the redline matched up to 3inch downpipe) motor runs great with no issues. Also has new light flywheel with heavy duty street clutch with only 6000 miles on it. The two-piece 17inch wheels by kinetic where 2300 dollars without tires and I just fitted some brandnew TRD center caps on them to dress them up a bit more. I just put brandnew foglamps and also new 255 Walbro fuel pump in So it can handle bigger injectors and bigger turbo down the road. Has a fully done Stereo system with two amps and 2 bazooka subs behind the seats with ipod/iPhone hook up. I put a lot of money into this car to get is super nice and get compliments on it ALL the time and people randomly taking pics of it. I'm only selling cause I want V8 m3 competition package. If I could afford to have the mr2 and the M3 I would for sure but I don't have that luxury at this point to do so. The vehicle started out as a normally aspirated stock 1991 Toyota MR-2, and i have invested more than $6,500 above base price on an engine upgrade and a transmission rebuild in addition to other minor refurbishment to make this one of the smoothest driving and "freshest" cars of its kind in the country. our family has grown by 3 kids in 3 years and it's time for me to say goodbye to the 2-seater and use the cash on something i can strap a few car seats into.I bought the car in late 2012 from an experienced shop that swapped in a new GEN 4 Turbo engine from an early 2000's JDM Toyota Caldina and refurbished the vehicle. Since purchase I have invested in more overhauls while driving the car less than 150 miles in a typical month. Although the chassis (originally a non-turbo) has over 160k miles i was told by the seller that the swapped JDM Gen4 Turbo engine had less than 65k on it. The swap was done by the trustworthy pros at Prime MR-2 in New Jersey. They are MR2 specialists and the best in the country at these swaps and their excellent summary of the process, the benefits, their experience with swaps, and estimated specs can be found at the Prime MR2Website. NOTE: I am not affiliated with Prime MR2, I'm linking to their page for the best description of the work performed and the resulting specs As you will see at the site, the engine swap is a nearly $5,000 investment and pays big performance dividends. Other investments into the car include: -Completely rebuilt transmission (amazing difference - almost feels like a new car) in January 2015 - $1600+ investment. Less than 1000 miles driven since rebuild -Tinted Windows & T-Top Panels -A\C system Conversion from R12 freon to R134a (and recharged Freon late summer 2014)The car had new clutch, tires, brakes installed before i took delivery (probably less than 5,000 miles ago), and a fresh battery less than 2,000 miles ago. I have driven the car less than 1,000 miles per year since I bought it in October 2012, and not very aggressively - commuting and errands. The body and interior are nearly 25 years old, and obviously show use accordingly. there is some chipping, scratches in areas of the exterior, although most of that is constrained to accent areas rather than the body panels. The bumper paint is chipping in both corners. general interior wear and tear is probably better than your usual over-20-year-old vehicle . i've tried to show the wear and tear in the photos.the speedometer and odometer have not been working. this happened approximately 7 tankfuls (less than 2,000 miles) ago, it hasn’t bothered me (i know my speed by gear and RPM) and so I haven’t bothered to get it fixed. i've been told it is easily fixable for a couple hundred bucks of parts and labor.Please contact me with any questions. Since 1987 I have continuously owned a 1986 Toyota MR2. This is the third one. The first one was lost by collision with 160,000 miles on it. The second one I sold on eBay with 308,000 miles on it when I bought this one. Because I needed a larger vehicle for work, this MR2 was my second car and as such it was only driven during the summer and garaged during the winter, with only about 2,000 miles being driven each year. The car drives very well and puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. There are a few things that don't work on this car that I have found also failed on the MR2s that I had previously owned. The parking brake cables are seized, and the Air Conditioning does not work. The radio will lose power intermittently and when it happens all memory presets are lost. A few years ago the car was backed into from a parking space. The damage was at the right side rear wheel well, which was a bit rusty at the time. When it went to the body shop for repair I had both sides repaired with steel replacing the rusted area. There is a very small area of rust showing on each side of the vehicle. The front and rear bumpers have been more recently repainted and their color is a bit more vivid than the rest of the car. The drivers side power window jerks while moving up or down. It has been like that since I bought the car and has never failed to work. HKS exhaust is installed and sounds great. Genuine Toyota leather key fob bought at a Toyota dealer in the 1980's is included. The original leather wrapped gear shift lever is also included, but in hot weather adhesive oozes from the top of it. This is a great fun sports car. Put the windows down, pop the sunroof, and enjoy the drive.

We are the nation's leading seller of MR2 parts. It isn't often that we offer vehicles for sale (check our ebay history). Occasionally we discover an MR2 that would benefit from a new life instead of being taken apart to save others. We probably spent too much time and money ($1500+ just for paint) on this car, but it was rust-free, unmolested, and only needed minor body work and a replacement engine because its 5SFE needed cylinder head work. It runs well and drives as it should. Aside from the engine and front bumper (oem bumper was damaged by curb), this car has never been modified or toyed with like a lot of others. It *really* could benefit (at least visually) from a set of lowering springs, as these cars had a rather tall ride height even with the factory 14" wheels. The 17" wheels fit the wheel arch better, but exaggerate the ride height. Passenger seat bottom has stitching defect. Passenger door panel has 2 small rips. Engine lid from turbo model does not have steel underside to divert rain water. Hasn't been a problem for us, but we try to disclose all known defects.
