The vehicle started out as a normally aspirated stock 1991 Toyota MR-2, and i have invested more than $6,500 above base price on an engine upgrade and a transmission rebuild in addition to other minor refurbishment to make this one of the smoothest driving and "freshest" cars of its kind in the country. our family has grown by 3 kids in 3 years and it's time for me to say goodbye to the 2-seater and use the cash on something i can strap a few car seats into.I bought the car in late 2012 from an experienced shop that swapped in a new GEN 4 Turbo engine from an early 2000's JDM Toyota Caldina and refurbished the vehicle. Since purchase I have invested in more overhauls while driving the car less than 150 miles in a typical month. Although the chassis (originally a non-turbo) has over 160k miles i was told by the seller that the swapped JDM Gen4 Turbo engine had less than 65k on it. The swap was done by the trustworthy pros at Prime MR-2 in New Jersey. They are MR2 specialists and the best in the country at these swaps and their excellent summary of the process, the benefits, their experience with swaps, and estimated specs can be found at the Prime MR2Website. NOTE: I am not affiliated with Prime MR2, I'm linking to their page for the best description of the work performed and the resulting specs As you will see at the site, the engine swap is a nearly $5,000 investment and pays big performance dividends. Other investments into the car include: -Completely rebuilt transmission (amazing difference - almost feels like a new car) in January 2015 - $1600+ investment. Less than 1000 miles driven since rebuild -Tinted Windows & T-Top Panels -A\C system Conversion from R12 freon to R134a (and recharged Freon late summer 2014)The car had new clutch, tires, brakes installed before i took delivery (probably less than 5,000 miles ago), and a fresh battery less than 2,000 miles ago. I have driven the car less than 1,000 miles per year since I bought it in October 2012, and not very aggressively - commuting and errands. The body and interior are nearly 25 years old, and obviously show use accordingly. there is some chipping, scratches in areas of the exterior, although most of that is constrained to accent areas rather than the body panels. The bumper paint is chipping in both corners. general interior wear and tear is probably better than your usual over-20-year-old vehicle . i've tried to show the wear and tear in the photos.the speedometer and odometer have not been working. this happened approximately 7 tankfuls (less than 2,000 miles) ago, it hasn’t bothered me (i know my speed by gear and RPM) and so I haven’t bothered to get it fixed. i've been told it is easily fixable for a couple hundred bucks of parts and labor.Please contact me with any questions. I don't have tremendous knowledge of car mods and this is the only MR-2 i've driven or owned, so there may be some questions i may struggle to answer but i will be completely honest with you and answer all questions to the best of my ability. Original owner (non smoker), No Rust (rare for a Michigan car). Garaged winters. Car body is in near perfect condition, as can be seen by photos taken recently. mr2parts4u store New black paint. Black leather interior. A/C works. 5-Speed Manual (S54). Low mile 2nd generation JDM 3S-GE engine. Cruise control not functional. ABS light on. Good tires. No rust. T-Tops with storage bags A few interior defects - see pictures Aftermarket front bumper. MR2 turbo vented engine lid. Power steering. Runs & drives very well. Free-revving GenII 3SGE engine is a lot more fun than the stock 5SFE Light weight aftermarket aluminum flywheel & new clutch Retains the OEM exhaust system with catalyst - no provision for EGR - Check your local emissions rules. Most states exempt vehicles of this age. This was the base engine for MR2s sold in the Japanese market. Gen 2 3S-GE : Power - 165ps (163bhp) @ 6800rpm Torque - 19.5kg-m (141ft.lb) @ 4800rpm compression ratio - 10:1 Cam duration (IN/EX) - 244°/244° Cam lift (IN/EX) - 8.5mm/8.5mm Valve diameter (IN/EX) - 33.5mm/29.0mm Throttle body diameter - 55mm Injector size - 295cc Notes - AICS The engine swap did not involve any cutting/welding/damage of any kind - since it is a factory MR2 powerplant. It could be easily changed back to the North American-spec 5SFE 2.2L. 17" aluminum wheels Includes OEM temporary spare tire & jack (not shown) This is a very good example of a well-optioned 2nd generation MR2. We are the nation's leading seller of MR2 parts. It isn't often that we offer vehicles for sale (check our ebay history). Occasionally we discover an MR2 that would benefit from a new life instead of being taken apart to save others. We probably spent too much time and money ($1500+ just for paint) on this car, but it was rust-free, unmolested, and only needed minor body work and a replacement engine because its 5SFE needed cylinder head work. It runs well and drives as it should. Aside from the engine and front bumper (oem bumper was damaged by curb), this car has never been modified or toyed with like a lot of others. It *really* could benefit (at least visually) from a set of lowering springs, as these cars had a rather tall ride height even with the factory 14" wheels. The 17" wheels fit the wheel arch better, but exaggerate the ride height. Passenger seat bottom has stitching defect. Passenger door panel has 2 small rips. Engine lid from turbo model does not have steel underside to divert rain water. Hasn't been a problem for us, but we try to disclose all known defects.

Growing up, always loved the 2nd generation MR2 but never had the chance to get one. In early 2014, I purchased this car locally from an adult female driver who bought it brand new locally in the Dallas area. She decided it was time to give it up and let it go. When I purchased the car, the clutch was almost out and the engine ran strong but needed a tune-up. Car was purchased at 203k miles. Since my ownership, I've had it serviced at a local independent import repair shop and had the following done: *New Exedy OEM replacement clutch and throw-out bearing*New timing belt & water pump, front and rear crankshaft seals*New accessory belts (AC, alternator, etc)*New valve cover gasket, new camshaft seals*New Oil Pan gasket*New motor mount*Tune-up: Spark plugs, K&N air filter, 02 sensor, NGK wires, distributor cap/rotor, fuel filter*New Front & Rear rotors/pads*"Speed source" bushing kit for smoother/precise shifting*Redline 75w-90 transmission gear oil After driving the car for a few months (FALL 2014), I decided to have the suspension work done:*Prothane Urethane Bushing kit (red)*New KYB Excel G shocks - Fronts/Rears(OEM replacement)*New Shock mounts (Front only)*New Ball joints *New front tires from Discount Tires with lifetime balancing/rotation/warranty. The headlights, power windows, power locks and radio all work (Original Factory Toyota Radio). The MR2 is a really fun car to drive, every so often when I do drive it I wish I didn't have to sell it but need the garage space and staring a family. I was told by the first owner it was garaged as it is proven so by the original paint on the car. I garage the car myself as well since my ownership to avoid the harsh Texas summers and crazy winters at times. For the most part, its been my "grocery getter/errand" car as I drive it once or twice a week at most, short distances. A rare chance to own a beautiful, unwrecked, unmodified, reliable, mid-engine sports car for only $3950! Information This MR2 really must be seen and driven to be appreciated. It does not show its age, partially because it has almost always been garaged (including covered parking at work) and it has been used almost exclusively as a commuter car for me and the previous owner (both adult owners). There are no dents or major scratches and no history of accidents. This car has been my daily commuter for 12 years, and it has been a textbook example of Toyota reliability. The car is solid (not clicks or squeaks) and built to last. With its mid-engine placement it’s always fun to drive. Other than the CD and possibly the cassette player, everything works. It runs strong, A/T shifts smooth, the A/C blows cold, the headlights and windows work flawlessly. The rear-view mirror motors work, cruise control works, and even the emergency break and clock still function properly. Also, the sunroof includes a roof cover (to keep out heat and UV rays), and the sunroof can also be removed if desired. Original paint. The front tires are new (rear tires are a couple years old). Car passed CA smog, clean title is in hand, and car is ready to be driven anywhere.The 1993 MR2 1993 MR2s are exceptionally rare, with fewer than 3,000 being sold in the U.S. There’s no telling how many remain, but a quick check on AutoTrader shows only 3 available for sale in the U.S. Unlike the more common 91-92 models, the 1993 features wider rear tires, different wheel design, and different/lower suspension.

Up for sale is one of Prime's personal MR2's. This is a 2-owner unmolested adult driven/owned 1993 MR2 turbo in the rare 93 only color of light blue metallic. The car is featuring a Gen5 3SGTE engine swap. The Gen5 is the newest 3SGTE engine you can buy and this engine came from a 2003 Toyota Caldina. The Gen5 differs from the Gen4 with a different valve cover, intake manifold, and injector style . To get the Gen5 engine to run, we wired it to operate on Gen4 electronics and ECU. The Gen5 ECU is an immobilized ecu and cannot be made operational. So essentially this is a Gen4 engine with a different intake manifold and valve cover. Everything works on the car. This car is fully loaded from the factory with T-Tops, leather, power steering and ABS, TDSE. The interior is in great overall shape with no burn holes or damaged/hacked surfaces. The driver seat has obvious wear as shown in the pics. Overall, the car drives excellent for it's age with no creaks, rattles or groans. The paint is all original except for the driver side headlight cover. In regards to the exterior of the car, the bumpers and spoiler have faded like most original MR2s and there is a long scratch on the driver side. All of this is indicated in the pictures. Other than the imperfections, the paint shines up nicely. This MR2 benefits from all the upgrades of the 1993 model year. This is a car you just cannot find any more. Low mileage chassis (74k) in this color (only 250+/- made in this color) and fully loaded with black leather. We have put $15k of parts/labor into this car excluding the purchase price. This 1993 MR2 is a great and fun car to drive. This car has been driven in the summer since I have owned it. We've been taking it to car shows there aren't many left with low miles and are still OEM in nature. The timing belt was changed at 110k miles. It has a new Napa belt assembly that goes with the car all new stuff I have will go with the car. We've put less than 1600 miles on the car. The body is good, no rust it was painted the way I liked it. I need the parking space and will miss the car. I've have had no problems with the car. You just get in it and go no problems. The car has big brakes and thick side wall Kumo tires new. This car is a non Turbo.

Classic and hard to find now. Fun to drive 1991 Toyota MR2. We like the car so much we have two! Time to part with one. Non Turbo. Great ride. Passed California emissions 10/2014. Pick up or shipping from Palm Springs. All original components for the T Top including storage bags, sun shade panels, locking knobs. Original Tool Kit. Engine tight, stays cool, no fluid leaks, head lights pop up fine. Car will need a new clutch at some point. Excellent interior, no rips or tears, dash is fine.
