1980 Toyota 4x4 Pickup HiLux - Collector Owned - 43,500 Documented Miles I acquired this Toyota Pickup after much searching across the country. It is an absolute time-capsule and a rare opportunity to acquire a pristine example of this iconic 1980's truck. The truck was originally purchased by its first owner on December 12th, 1979 from the Toyota Dealer in Parkersburg, WV for a total cash price of $7.948.23 (including $119.00 for a factory 8-track tape player). The very next day, on 12/13/79, the truck was delivered to Ziebart of Parkersburg for a comprehensive rust prevention treatment including, according to the detailed invoice, the optional "spray inside of bed" service for an additional fee of $15.00. Over the next several decades, the truck would remain under the care of its original owner who's fastidious maintenance and attention to detail would keep the truck in an almost factory-new state for more than thirty years. Detailed records show the truck was driven regularly, if sparingly, year after year until sometime in 2004 when the original owner fell ill and could no longer drive. From 2004 until 2011 the truck was driven sparingly by members of his family until the previous owner acquired the truck in 2013, shortly after the original owner's passing. At that time the documented mileage was 38,785 miles. During his ownership, the truck was driven an additional 50 miles. Since I have owned the truck, it has seen 4,665 miles. As you would expect from a vehicle with this low of mileage, the truck is simply amazing in every way. As close to a new Hilux as you'll ever find on year 37 of its life and its truly an investment-grade vehicle in all regards. Under my care it has been maintained as meticulously as the previous owners. I think that this truck could compete for tops for this model. The combination of originality, cosmetics, low-mileage, extensive documentation, and exceptional condition make this truck an instant contender at any preservation-class concours in the country. If you've been waiting for the best, I urge you to come see this truck. You may never see another one as good as this. Mechanicals:Mechanically, the truck is in shockingly great condition and it starts, stops and drives exactly as you would expect. It starts easily, every time, and the engine runs cool in the summer, and strong in the winters. The clutch is strong, the transmission shifts smoothly with no grinding or odd noises, and the truck brakes easily and in a straight line. There are no oil leaks or smoking from the engine. The truck shows no signs of previous collision or accident damage and is as clean and solid as its low mileage suggests. Everything in the truck works as it should. Lights, switches, wipers, gauges, everything. The truck is, of course, numbers-matching and maintains its original engine and transmission. Exterior:From every angle, the truck presents beautifully. The original red paint is in flawless condition. Deep and glossy without checking or signs of deterioration, and there are no significant flaws with the paint appearing closer to 37 days old than 37 years. The rubber seals, trim, emblems, decals, and exterior hardware are all absolutely beautiful. I have rarely seen a vehicle of this vintage in more pristine condition or one that presents closer to new. The cosmetics of this truck will exceed your expectations. Interior:The interior of this Toyota is a testament to what original, low-mileage vehicles should be. The dash is perfect. Free of cracks and showing no warping. The door panels are pristine. The controls and various switches are beautiful. The bench seat was has always been covered and is outstanding. Ive included some pictures with the seat covers off to show the flawless condition of the original interior, and some pictures with the seat cover on with the bench mounted center counsel in place. The gauges are clear and bright. The steering wheel is pristine. The carpet has been protected by rubber mats for its entire life and presents as new. The headliner is beautiful. I've taken the time to provide close-up photos of the interior from almost every angle. Please examine them closely and pay attention to the details. Yes, the big things like the dash, seats, and door panels are all excellent. But look even more closely at the small things and I think you'll agree with me when I say that the interior details of this vehicle are absolutely among the best I've ever seen. Documentation:For serious collectors, much of the value of a collector vehicle comes down to provenance and documentation. I'm happy to report that this truck checks that box with authority. Not only are there dozens of detailed records documenting the original purchase, service history, and correct mileage, the original owner was, to put it mildly, of the anal retentive variety and the history of this truck is documented by dozens and dozens of hand-written notes spanning more than three decades of his ownership. They include entries when he purchased the truck, first drove the truck, performed oil changes over the years, replaced various filters, washed and waxed the truck, and on and on and on. The documentation of this truck is second to none and provides a fascinating and stunningly complete history of this very special vehicle. It will all be provided in a binder from oldest to newest ascending order. The cover of the binder even includes an original 80' Toyota Pickup advertisement pulled from a 1979 Time magazine. I keep this truck in storage and in-person inspections and test-drives are welcomed and encouraged but please do so before clicking “Buy It Now” or committing to a purchase. Because this truck may be test driven, please allow for the mileage to very slightly. I have a clear and correct Alaska title for this vehicle in my possession and the truck includes its original manuals. Transportation and delivery of this vehicle is the responsibility of the purchaser. I'll happily assist in any way I can. I'll accept payment by wire transfer, cash or certified cashier’s check from one of the big banks. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of purchase with the remaining balance due within 3 days. If you can't personally hand me payment within 3 days, you can utilize a wire transfer and transfer me the money within 3 days.________________________________________________________________________________________________Since I purchased this vehicle I have done the following work on it:SoftTopper (Black) w/cross bars: $1,285.Lumen 7” Round Chrome Reflector LED Headlights: $340.
