I have owned this 4runner since March 2005. I bought it with the understanding that I was the 3rd owner. It had 99k miles on it when I bought it, and it now has 147xxxk. It has been a great second car. I am selling only because I do not have the space for it, It has recently (within the last 6 months) been gone over by a Toyota specialist who did a complete brake job (4 wheel) with new front rotors as I recall, new wires, and a new battery, and a fee other things noted below. This 4runner runs very well with no problems that I am aware of. I have not driven it very much the last few years and after its been sitting the battery loses its charge. Other than replacing the battery my mechanic found nothing wrong with the charging system. I also will note that it will not win any horsepower competitions but putting it in "power mode" helps if you are going up a significant grade. Though not known for horsepower, the 22 re motor is known to last 250k miles or more, which means this 4runner should have years of use left if the new owner continues to keep the vehicle maintained as I have. I always use full synthetic oil. It does not seem to burn oil from what I can tell and apart from changing the valve cover gasket recently, my mechanic gave me the impression the motor does not drip or leak as far as I know, I had it smog tested today (so that it will be all set if the new owner lives in California) and it passed with flying colors. It needs a horn button ( I have one and if I can find it will include with the auction. the cable to slide back the passenger side seat has something wrong with it, The other side works fine. the 4wds works fine, but I have only used it twice. The heat and ac also both work well, as do all the lights, etc. the power window on the back goes up and down a bit slower than when new (I am guessing) but has never been a problem. the windows inside are not power, and they work fine. I recently had a new windshield installed (the old one had a crack) and all of the glass is in perfect shape as far as I know. the tires are matching BFG All Terrain Radials- I would estimate the tread to be at least 80% on all and all 4 seem to be wearing evenly, A new muffler was also installed within the last year and a half or so. The stereo system (alpine am/fm cd) has an amp under the drivers seat and a sub woofer (Bazooka) bass tube in the back and cost me over 1000. when I had it put in when I first bought the truck. the interior is all original and in good shape- some normal wear. I added a dash cap on the passenger side and the new owner may want to tack it down a bit better with silicone or something like that. I cant think of anything else and I have tried to disclose above all that I know about the shape of this vehicle. It is what I consider a very nice first gen 4runner with low miles and no rust that I can find. It gets lots of compliments from people and though not perfect, the paint looks very nice and there are no dents (there are a couple door dings but nothing that will show in a photo) and I do not believe this vehicle has ever been in any accidents. If you have any other questions please let me know and I will do my best to answer them. Shipping is to be arranged by and paid for by the buyer. This 28 year old 4runner is sold as is with no warranty and no return, If you want to see it in person and test drive I am fine with that as long as we can agree on when to meet up. a $500 non refundable deposit is due by pay pal within 24 hours of the close of the auction, The balance of the purchase price must be paid using a bank money order only and sent to me in full within 3 business days of the close of the auction. First generation 4runners in this condition and with low miles are becoming next to impossible to find. Again, I will answer any other questions that I can. If you like this very nice little truck you better BUY IT NOW before someone else does! Thanks for checking out my auction,

I have decided to offer for sale my gorgeous 1989 4runner. I am the second owner and I purchased it from the estate of the original owner. Up until I bought it the vehicle spent it's entire lift in Portland Oregon which is one of the best areas a vehicle like this could come from. My 1988 pickup is from the same area and is similarly rust free. Since it has been in my care it has not seen any bad weather and is in storage long before there is salt on the road and isn't brought out until the salt has been long washed away by rain. It's part of a small collection of vehicles I drive on the weekends in nice weather. It is mostly original paint. What I did when I first received the truck was have a body shop (owner of the shop is a friend of mine) repaint the front valence and apply rock guard, paint the leading edge of the hood and blend, remove original faded decals, polish the entire vehicle and re-apply all new decals. I restored the "4Runner" emblems on the b-pillars which are always delaminating. The windshield was replaced at some point and is very nice and clear. There are a few tiny nicks here and there. Smaller than a dime sized ding on the lower tailgate. Overall the exterior is near perfect. Chrome is amazing. Absolutely zero rust anywhere. Not a single stain or bubble anywhere even on the inside edges of all panels. Even has the original exhaust system. The interior shows some minor wear on the drivers seat bolster and drivers top door panel. It also has a one inch long but narrow crack in the dash near the windshield. Otherwise the interior is amazing. I have the sunroof shade but it is not pictured. Runs perfect. It's as smooth as my Lexus. Averages 20mpg in mixed driving. Clutch is brand new with OEM Toyota parts. Both differentials, transmission and transfer case have redline synthetic. Engine is Mobil 1 synthetic. A/C works but compressor occasionally makes noise. New OEM Toyota compressor is included though I have not had a chance to install it. All lights/horn work. Factory radio and speakers work and sound great along with the tape player. Cruise control works. Power antenna works but is sticky at times. Both power windows work excellent, very fast. Power mirrors work. Rear tailgate window motor also works perfect/fast with switch and key. I do not know if the top has ever been removed, it has not in my care and I see no evidence of it. Just before I purchased it the original owner had the timing belt/water pump replaced along with the radiator and oxygen sensor. Again, runs perfect, shifts perfect, 4x4 works (only tested it in my driveway), no check engine lights, no problems. Alignment is perfect. It tracks perfectly straight and zero vibrations, even at 80mph, steering wheel is dead straight. Brakes are excellent, zero vibration. I would not hesitate to drive this vehicle anywhere. I have 100% confidence you could fly in and drive it home anywhere. (if you are in fact flying from somewhere that can be driven to!). Engine compartment is super clean and nice. Even the firewall is nice glossy original paint. The undercarriage is of course rust free as well but could use detailing and it would show better. Tires have almost no wear. Wheels are gorgeous. Not sure what else to say, I suppose I've said a lot :) Let me know if you have any other questions and I encourage any potential buyer to come visit the vehicle in person. It is a rarity in this condition and you will not be disappointed.

One of the cleanest 1st gen runners on the road. There is are a couple chips in the paint by the wheels well. The chrome trim over the driver side rear wheel well is dented. Not the body, just the trim. There is a leak in the main seal, small leak but needs to be fixed. I was quoted $350 to fix. The interior was redone, all vinyl and new carpet as well as the material around the gear shifter. Interior is a solid 7.5 out of 10. The arm rest is missing but I have extra material to match the interior incase someone can find one.

This is pretty much an original 1987 Toyota 4runner SR5. It is the most desirable color combination of Black/Gray with what I think was every available option that was offered for that model year. 22RE 4 cylinder motor mated to the 5 speed manual transmission. Options include Air Conditioning, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Cruise Control, Removable Factory Sunroof, Intermittent Wipers, Factory Aluminum Running Boards and window visors, Rear A/C and Heat, Factory 6X9 Rear Speakers. This has been my labor of love for the past year. I acquired this vehicle from the second owner that had not used it for the past 5 years. It has always been a southern vehicle and it was stored under a carport. There was minimal rust around the wheel wells so before painting I replaced both front fenders and had the rear quarter panels repaired with welded in metal. The rest of the truck minus the roof and rear tailgate was treated to a high quality base coat clear coat paintjob. This was not a $8000 show paintjob but a very nice $3500 paintjob that looks great and will last for a long time to come. I was on the fence about putting the factory decals back on the truck as it looks so good just all black. I will leave that decision up to the next owner. The whole truck was gone through mechanically to include all new synthetic fluids in the engine, transmission, transfer case and both front and rear differentials. Radiator was flushed and filled with the proper coolant. A full tune up was also preformed. 4 new heavy duty Gabriel shocks were installed. Truck had aftermarket wheels and tires on it so I decided to upgrade them with a newer year model 4runner 16" wheels. Installed was a good used set of 265/75/16 load range E Kelly tires. The factory radio was already gone so I installed a new Pioneer AM/FM CD player with 4 new high quality speakers which sounds great paired up with the still functional factory power antenna. Truck runs and drives great with no issues other than a small throw out bearing noise while in idle. All power windows and locks work great. Fan motor is only working in the high position at present but A/C does work. A couple of small interior items still need attending such as 2 of the rear seat hinge covers are missing as is the plastic surround for the pass side door lock button. The right side of the dash is cracked and I was going to replace it with a factory unit but have not yet found a good enough replacement. Passenger side top corner windshield molding is missing (ordered)and the rod for the battery hold down is also missing. Front skid plate is missing. All minor fixes. I believe this is probably one of the best surviving first generation 4runners available in the country. Please email with any questions or if you would like to talk about the truck feel free to reach me at 980-829-6566.

Runs well and drives anywhere. Interior is in very good condition, there is a cluster of gauges on the dash that I have not seen before, the gauges are for off road use and includes an altitude gauge, incline gauge and lean gauge (side to side). Needs tires and rust repair. The 22re engine shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. I plan to move out of state next year, so I need to get rid of some toys. I hate to see this go, Its cool and a blast to take off road or just cruise around in.

Bought this with the intention of doing work to it and keeping it as my new toy. Plans have changed and i need to sell it. All tires are brand new(33x12.5) BFGoodrich mud terrain, all brakes are new, new gaskets/seals, new clutch. pioneer stereo with 10" subwoofer 200W amp. From what previous owner knew(not much) it has a 3' suspension lift and 3" body lift. Right rear leaf spring is broken but still driveable. i drove it 400+ miles to Utah from NM with no issues. averages around 14MPG in town and around 20 on the highway. Super fun off-road and will conquer anything you throw at it. can send more pics upon request
