SUPER RARE(One of only 1372 produced) 1955 STUDEBAKER CHAMPION "CONESTOGA" REGAL 2 DR STATION WAGON. It is a series 16G6 Regal(the rarest of all Conestoga S/W models) with VIN # G1315482. Car is complete and it is very rare to find an original untouched Conestoga in this condition. Overall, body panels are straight and there is minimal rust. Chrome is very good original(all there) and right rear lower taillight is broken. Interior is rough but complete including factory radio. Glass is very good all around except for driver door which is cracked and windshield will need replacing. She was sheded for over 40 years and last licensed in the 1960's and original mileage is unknown. Wonderful find just waiting for someone to claim her and bring out her original beauty. Take a close look at the pics before bidding as they show the condition better than I can describe. If you are looking to build a Bullet Nose Studebaker, this car is the one. It's the very desirable, still talked about, radical design inspired by World War II fighter planes, the Starlight Coupe. The 4 piece. wrap-a-round back window and sloping body design made it the car that people said, "Didn't know if it was going forwards or backwards." The nose design was reminiscent of the jet fighter air intakes and has been popular with car enthusiasts forever. 1950 was Studebakers greatest sale year, ever. Extremely solid body and frame. Stored in a shed for almost 40 years in dry Arizona climate. Some parts had been removed and stored in the trunk, perhaps getting ready for a re-paint due to the sanding that had been done. Most parts have been re-installed and others have been acquired from parts cars to make this Starlight Coupe as complete as I can make it. I know the radio, rear-view mirror, glove box door emblem and the door panels are missing. The drivers door glass is cracked. All the rest of the glass is serviceable. I plan to include 2 more doors and one has a good glass. Sometime in it's life the transmission tunnel had been cut. There is another tunnel piece included. Critters helped destroy the 65 year old wiring and upholstery. Headliner is ripped out, but the bows are still attached. Engine turns over by hand, but no attempt has been made to start it due to the condition of wiring and fuel lines. It's condition is unknown. Transmission is a 3 speed manual with overdrive. Anyone that has built an old car will tell you that rust is the one factor that costs money to fix with no extra value in return. This car has very little rust. I have found 2 small spots. One on the passenger door, (2 more doors will be included) and one spot on the passenger front fender. The floors are very solid, as is the trunk. The doors open and close with no sag or drag, and latch just like new. Hood and trunk fit as well as any I have seen. The car shows no signs of ever being in an accident. Car rolls and steers for loading. I'm thinning my herd of Studebakers and this is the project that is most complete and will take the least amount of effort to complete. There is still a lot of work to do, but it's a solid, complete car to start with and will make a really desirable driver or show car. Bullet Nose Studebakers always have a crowd around them at the shows. They make really interesting customs and resto-rods too. With the patina this car has, it would qualify for the Rat Rod class also. Please contact me for more info or pictures of areas of concern. I welcome inspections prior to auction close. I advertise the item as well as I can, good and bad, and have a 100% positive feedback. I may be able to help with transportation in lower 48, within reason. I'm not fond of driving in snow. If you're looking for iconic, here it is - the bullet-nose Studebaker! This is a 1951 Champion Regal Deluxe convertible that is an instant hit wherever it goes. If you want to get noticed, this is the car you want! This car has the automatic transmission which is rare. The paint is in outstanding condition with just a few chips. The car was repainted approximately eight years ago. The chrome and stainless exterior trim are in excellent condition. The car starts well, idles smoothly and has good power for a six cylinder. Lights and turn signals function properly and the brakes work properly. The convertible top material is in excellent condition and was likely replaced at some point. The seat upholstery is in great condition and was redone prior to my ownership. The AM radio even works! The tires are at least eight years old but have plenty of tread. Included with the car is a high quality dust cover, owners manual and some repair receipts from the previous owner. There is a crack in the right headlight chrome trim, however two good used trims are included with the car that can be re-chromed and installed. The power top mechanisms were replaced with hydraulic rams by the previous owner. The top seems to work a little slow but I have nothing to compare it to. Aside from routine maintenance, the only things the car has needed during my ownership are a new stoplight switch and new battery. This car will be conveyed to the new owner on a clear Pennsylvania title. The vehicle is being sold AS IS - WHERE IS. There are no warranties expressed or implied. Recently took this very desirable and difficult to find 1950 Studebaker convertible in trade. It is one of the few I have ever seen with an automatic transmission. We were told that the engine and transmission have been rebuilt, however we do not have documentation to support that. Speedometer shows 65,680. It starts right up, runs smoothly, quiet, drives, shifts and stops well. Over all it is very straight. Like so many of these models, the floors rocker panels, right door bottom and trunk floor have seen better days and will need to be replaced. New floors and panels are readily available. The canvas top is worn out, but the convertible frame is in excellent shape and works well. The glass looks good all around and the windows roll up and down easily, except for the passenger door. We have not checked the radio, wipers, or lights. This is a very worthy car to restore and we have been very tempted to keep it, however business needs are pressing us to at least give you a chance to own it. You already know what a rare find it is. The last two pictures were added to give you an idea of how this old girl could be transformed. I believe this is the only 1950 Studebaker Convertible for sale in North America for under $30K. This little gem is a 90% finished Project car. Includes Front disc brakes and all new suspension. Nice Chevy 350 V8 engine, and 350 Turbo A/T. Seats are all leather with power drivers seat. New tires and complete new dual exhaust. And everything works. The dash does need finished but gauges are working. Does run fine but since it has been sitting awhile and engine compartment has not been cleaned. Sorry don't know rear end or gearing but not Posi for sure.
